“ — i mean, of course i love the second mamma mia movie. do i think it captured the same magic as the first one? i mean, no. obviously not. you can’t just replace meryl streep with cher and expect me to feel the same type of — ” andy’s interjection in the great mamma mia vs mamma mia 2: here we go again debate ( which had been taking place for the better part of an hour, just as they’d departed lawrenceville, nj ) had been rudely interrupted by the screeching of brakes. not just theirs, but their fellow travelers as well. all had stopped, still as sentinels. the foursome stepped out of the car, just as the center of bridge they were beginning to cross shattered and crumbled into the delaware. andy ran to precipice, as a serpentine tail flicked out of the water. “ wait – what the fuck! did you guys see that? ”
☽
in the middle of constructing her counterargument, divika quickly pushed the discussion to the back of her mind to focus on the traffic jam in front of their car. given their distance from the bermuda triangle, the creatures of the abyss shouldn’t be surfacing so far north of their domain. “a sea monster in the delaware river?” she questioned aloud in acknowledgement of the absurdity of the situation.
regardless, containment of the threat needed to be their top priority as their instructors had trained them. “lena, how do you want to start the evacuation for the mortals?” she asked her fellow greek, noting the increasing damage to the support beams of the suspension bridge. “lunara, do your shadows work underwater?” she asked, attempting to the follow the monster’s trail. “and andy, can you do anything to stabilize the foundation right now?” her knowledge of what the romans were capable of was limited to what she seen presented in capture the flag, but right now any help would have to suffice with the limited time the team had to act.
☼
Leave it to a monster to ruin a riveting conversation. Divika was right, what was a sea monster doing so far north? She glanced over at Andy, knowing that her friend didn’t use her powers very often. She trusted her to do the right thing. “They do.” Lunara answered, focusing her eyesight on the dark shadows under the water. Based on what she could see from the shape, this creature was native to the Bermuda Triangle. Discordia herself had led her one summer where Lunara learned of the heavy magic used there. She could sense it now from the creature. “If anyone starts doing or feeling weird, speak up. I’ll reverse the inducement.”
Her shadow ropes offered no physical sensation that could be felt underwater. The tendrils reached the monster loosely, blending in with the water. One word and she would have the creature bound and immobile. But first, the civilians evacuation.

running into another car in the small town had been a fluke, but a welcomed surprise after the disastrous night julian and his passengers had. an optimistic frame-of-mind, he was grateful for the hot coffee and the abundant spread of food the diner was able to provide for the group of demigods. though where the rest of group currently was a mystery, however their absence gave him time to review the news on his tablet as he waited for their return to the table. a callback to his upbringing, he knew better than to start eating without the presence of the whole party.
“where did the others go? this french toast looks amazing,” he asked before looking up at her and offering her a sugar packet. although they hadn’t seen each other in years, some of her quirks were like muscle memory for julian.
After the run in with Cetus, Lunara was drained. The diner was a beacon of light and she was grateful for the white noise of the other customers so she could strategize alone. The weather in Chicago seemed to be getting more intense according to the news site she was on, and after what they learned with Cetus, she needed to formulate a plan with the wind gods. The wind wasn’t her domain, but she knew she had some sway. Maybe.
Focused on her notes, Lunara looked up to realize he was still at the table. She glanced down at the sugar packet (while ignoring a flashback of her scolding him for offering just regular granulated sugar. Everyone knows the “Sugar In the Raw” kind is the best for on the go caramel) and takes a look back down at her strawberry french toast. “Divika and the others are dealing with a river spirit.” She shrugged ignoring the packet. She had driven the whole night without rest, Nectar couldn’t replace that. “Yeah. It’s good.” One would be wise not to underestimate a child of Venus when it came to casual intimacy. So what could possibly be his motivation now?
ofnereid:
“I love this song,” she commented, looking up from her phone. Compared to the other cars (and no doubt Lunara’s disregard for the speed limit), their car had an estimated arrival of tomorrow morning. Having only traveled to Chicago for business, Divika appreciated the additional time to familiarize herself with the city while the other cars caught up. Joining Zayyan would had been the safe decision, she was used to him and Olympus wouldn’t had called for an union of both camps if only one side needed to participate.
@radiantlunara
☼
Lunara had been so focused despite the idle chatter from Lena and Andy in the background, she hadn’t even realize she herself had joined in. However now, the others were fast asleep and it was only her and Divika still up. She was sure Divika getting shotgun was strategic from the siren’s end, but Lunara herself preferred it. An assassin for the gods wasn’t someone you left in the back to ruminate alone. Her speaking up snapped Lunara out of her revere. “Isn’t it so good! I love the whole Never Have I Ever soundtrack, the composer of that deserves a raise.”
ofeuropa:
Building connections was a necessity, and one of the reasons why Zayyan, who largely neglected to do so in normal circumstances, took the initiative to do so as a prerequisite for the quest. He knew many of the Greeks and Romans didn’t share this same sentiment, and someone had to do it— if they wanted the Greeks and Romans working side by side to progress past the point of mythology.
“Their pairing abilities are amazing. Made me realize it was an art form.” It helped that Lunara’s offer was exactly the sort of thing he’d spend doing in his free time, so much so that he’d been at the location for the same event on several occasions. “I have a few times. I sing only high praises about their food and drinks.” He turns to her assessingly, searching for a response that would not have them starting off on an interrogative note. “I suppose we should get our fill before the quest. I don’t think there’s anyone I would trust to pair wines and chocolate on the road.”
Of course, Lunara had been to places like this before. Never something so specific, which was something she appreciated. “Exactly! Plus, so many places pair with entrees. Wine and chocolates is a classic, it just makes sense.” She grinned, bright as ever for the task. The fact Zayyan had been here before was an added bonus. “It’s nice to visit with a local. If we ever end up on the west, I can show you this olive oil tasting in Nappa Valley. The cake is to die for.”
But of course, she was expecting the both of them to play a careful game to figure out just where the other stood. She smiled at his compliment, raising the glass of riesling they were served first. She could mention how Noemi would’ve loved it, but she and Divika had their own unfinished business. She supposed. “Exactly. One last hurrah.” She clinked her glass with his before taking a slow sip, brows raised in appreciation. “It’s good, makes white chocolate better.” A strategic move of her own, letting him lead the conversation. He could be a good ally, if everyone else was willing to think bigger picture.
andromcche:
when lunara had proposed a trip into the city, andy leapt at the idea. new athens felt strange, camp half blood even stranger. it felt wholly unfamiliar and oppressively intimate all at once, like stepping into the memory of a dream moments after waking. not to mention the fact that it was teaming with romans – many of whom andy didn’t leave on the best of terms with.
so sure. maybe it wasn’t the bravest thing to do. abandon her responsibilities and run off & play tourist. but it wasn’t like she’d get many other opportunities to pretend like she was a normal twenty-something taking a trip with a friend. not anymore, anyways.
“ c’mon luns. where’s the fun with teleportation? rat filled subway stations are apart of the ambiance. ” andy looped her arm through lunara’s as they trekked up the city block. “ yes please. i wanna check out their hellenic exhibit before –” before i go on this quest and don’t come back. “ we head back. ”
☼
Okay fine, Andy had a point. Her sour expressed shifted, her nose scrunching up with a small grin spreading on her lips. “Alright, alright. You’re right. Though now I definitely get why people here are so mad when it gets warm. The lack of AC in the stations is a criminal offense.” She nodded, looking very serious before breaking out into soft laughter. Leave it to Andy to make her laugh.
She nodded in agreement, picking up on what was unsaid. They both knew they didn’t need to dwell on the inevitable, but if prayer really worked, then perhaps they will be back as safe as they could be. “Oooh same, now is also around the time the met gala theme exhibition goes up. I can’t wait to see it up close.”
For just a few moments, they could be different people together. Lunara didn’t frequently run from her responsibilities, even now she would justify learning why the gods picked NYC as their home base would be useful. But if for now, it was Lunara and Andy taking Manhattan. For now, that could be enough.
@ofeuropa
Frankly, Lunara wasn’t that concerned with the overwhelming feud between the Greeks and Romans. She saw it for what it is: another ploy that the gods would use between them. Perhaps it was because of her parentage. Apollo was Apollo no matter who worshipped him, why should she act any different?
Of course, she wouldn’t want her fellow Romans to look weak. But this was not a battlefield yet, this was a carefully constructed chess match and they were all the pawns. That was why she felt the need to ask Zayyan specifically for the dessert and wine tasting she found at the Ayza bar downtown. Someone highly respected and open to forming connections.
“I read that they pair the wine based on the chocolate they’re serving.” She grinned, clearly pleased with this activity. “Have you ever been here before?”
@oftheseus
Though Anaïs had turned down Julian’s invitation for dinner, Lunara knew that there may had been things that they themselves could discuss. Plus, she could tell when Anaïs needed a drink and what better time than now?
They were in a booth at the 13th Step, a cute dive bar in the Lower East Side. If she had to pick a part of the city she preferred, she decided downtown was more her scene. Nursing a pink cosmo (of course she had to order a cosmo), Lunara gestured towards the food on the table. “The grilled cheese fucks. I would eat this plastered.”
@andromcche
The train into the city was long and filled with... interesting people. Then they had to take a bus just to get across town because for some reason their subways could not get them there. And then the cramped and stuffy subway had run into delays while Andy and Lunara were in it. At least demigod’s phones always had service no matter where they were. That was also when Lunara learned that there was a direct train to the park, but only from the west entrance. Penn station was where gods went to die, she decided.
When they finally got out of the subway into Central Park, Lunara understood why it seemed so captivating to tourists. After a ride like that, any place would seem like a breath of fresh air. “That was the ride from hell, I should’ve just teleported us.” She grumbled, knowing that this was part of the experience. “Alright... the Upper East Side.” It was certainly different from what she had seen all the way downtown. This must’ve been the Beverly Hills. “I guess we should find the Met.”
@ofproserpina
The sunlight was at the perfect angle to strike against Noemi’s cheekbones as Lunara set up the shot. The strawberry fields added a pleasantly sweet smell and Noemi stood out amongst the lush greenery, a true sight to be seen. It seemed impractical for her to bring her camera, but she rarely went without it. “Right there,” she directed with a grin before joining her beloved for the shot. One arm draped on Noemi’s shoulder while the other was on her own hip, she posed just as the self-timer went off.
“Should we try one? The Demeter cabin kids said that it was okay to.”

EUROPA - describe a time you didn’t get what you want
The obvious answer was to reveal something that would make her sound like a spoiled brat, that way she could carry on with her persona and have none would be the wiser. However, an amused smile tugged at the corner of her lips. “I’ll keep this one light, because we all know the big one. But there was someone I was seeing in secret when I was in college. Definitely not Janya Bhatt-Kholi approved. Of course, she didn’t know when she set me up on a blind date with some investor’s kid. And it was set up where I couldn’t cancel on my actual boyfriend.
Needless to say, we didn’t last. Either of us.”
MEDEA - describe your favorite childhood memory
There was a rolodex of memories that she would consider her favorite, almost all of them tied to the camp. A winter solstice gone rogue, secret late night swims way past curfew, a surprise birthday present and homemade cake. Diaries could be filled up with all of the memories, bittersweet despite everything. But she settles on one she was particularly fond of. “When my brothers were 2, they somehow found my mom’s lipsticks. I was babysitting and was in the other room when I realized it was too quiet. When I walked into my parents room, they had lipstick all over their faces, the sheets, the bathroom countertops. I was so scared I was going to get in trouble but that didn’t stop me from filming the whole thing. Turns out it was pretty easy to get out and wipe off, my parents still play the video at Christmas. My brothers hate it.”
