☼ : Childhood headcanon

(THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING THIS ONE BC THIS IS ACTUALLY SOMETHING I’VE REALLY WANTED TO EXPLORE AND THINK ABOUT MORE i love u k8 for so many reasons beyond your wise meme wits. everything about you. everything. leans in to gently press a kiss to your forehead, both of your cheeks, your nose, your hands. ur a wonder just overall)

I think it’s so important that Pyrrha’s nurturing nature reflects an abundance of a healthy, dedicated, morally upright atmosphere she grew up surrounded by, rather than an absence she feels obligated/obsession over filling. Pyrrha has so many amazing traits that I think were fostered in her childhood by what must have been a positive family, although I don’t think it’s quite right to call them prodigal or two-dimensionally perfect. Rather, although I don’t imagine Pyrrha coming from radical physical wealth, she had a lot of principles instilled in her and was consistently encouraged to think on her feet, but also to keep her calm.

☮ : Bedroom/house/living quarters headcanon

ALRIGHT one last living space headcanon; this will probably be quite brief compared to the others, but returning to the picture of her mother I like to imagine Pyrrha keeps by her bedside which was touched upon here, I feel like this is another instance in which Pyrrha likes to be surrounded by the people she cares about as a reminder of her fierce allegiance and kind outlook on people as a whole. Her home, Mistral, is a different region than Vale, where RWBY is primarily set, so this is what she can get to having whatever there is of her family (I go back and forth on my views of Pyrrha’s family all the time) with her while she endeavors on her ambitious path.

It’s actually really lovely for her to be sharing with the other members of Team JNPR in the Beacon dorms, since physical proximity - while not the end all and be all of aligning yourself with Pyrrha - is definitely a plus in forging a bond with her. That Pyrrha gets to observe and respond devotedly to her friends at school and ‘home’ as well as out in the battlefield only makes her value Jaune, Nora, and Ren more and more as time goes in.

☠ : Drinking/drunk headcanon

hehehehe this is where i get to talk about dRINKING/PUB GAMES and how once she gets to drinking when she’s older and probably, by then, a fully-fledged Huntress rather than a student, Pyrrha would, with her grasp on the world a little shaky and her glass more than a little drained, probably - definitely - be into arm wrestling, card games, darts, billiards, et al when drinking.

(In this scenario, though, Yang makes no such promises about her flames.)

♤ : Cooking headcanon

When it comes to cooking for other people, Pyrrha seems calm and certainly has a good idea of her ability - she’s open to trying new things and accommodating the mood for a certain dish, and she pays careful attention whenever she does so because the last thing she wants is to have to say “SOOORRYYYYYY” for giving her friends food poisoning. She wishes Nora would pick a different favored cereal brand, because she knows for a fact (after having been featured on the front of their box a year back) Pumpkin Pete’s Marshmallow Flakes really isn’t good for you.

Overall at Beacon, Pyrrha doesn’t tend to do much cooking. Most people rely on the mess hall for their meals, Pyrrha included, since one of the best parts of a meal is clearly being able to eat it surrounded by others. However, Hive City is a different story. Here Pyrrha cooks more often but more simply, and finds herself regularly eating alone. It’s not a bad thing - but she does miss when times were different.

☮ : Bedroom/house/living quarters headcanon

Speaking on Pyrrha’s home universe rather than her quarters here now, I really love the idea of Pyrrha keeping moderately Spartan quarters…which consistently pile up with sentimental things tied to memories she’s shared with her team of fellow Hunters-to-be, with possessions that aren’t even hers but have somehow ended up on her shelf or nightstand courtesy of Nora or Ren or whoever else. The things that enrich Pyrrha’s living space are the same things which represent her bonds with other people, as well as her pledge to be the light against the darkness. (The watcher on the walls. The fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, Pyrrha pledges her life and honor to the Night’s Watch, for this night and - shit, this isn’t even the right fandom - )

Knowing her room continually undergoes a cycle of accumulated Stuff, though, Pyrrha takes time regularly to get all of it back in order again, at least until Jaune next trips over the carpet and sends everything flying. Really, it’s not anything physical that ties Pyrrha to her living space at Beacon Academy, but what it means for her to be there and to be living with these people…who maybe sometimes need to learn to put books back on the shelf after they’re done, but who doesn’t get a little messy sometimes?

Perhaps the only thing she doesn't ever even entertain throwing away is the picture of her mother on her nightstand.

☾ : Sleep headcanon

(hehehe I love talking about sleep headcanons they’re so domestic and lovely) I discussed sleep hcs already in this post but another image I also really love to think about is how settling Pyrrha’s presence can be - how, rather than galvanizing a friend, at times it makes her companion feel safe and protected and able to relax.

☮ : Bedroom/house/living quarters headcanon

AHHH PYRRHA’S LIVING SITUATION actually is not that dazzling right now, seeing as she’s living underground in Epsilon, but I feel like on the whole, Pyrrha doesn’t need much. Of course she maintains a certain standard of living she wants to emulate here, albeit in a bunker, but I think some of the things she misses most about her room at Beacon Academy have been substituted fairly easily here in Hive City: she has books to read, if not in the ruined library then in the aboveground one; she will get Milo and Akouo back, even if she has to rebuild them both again from scratch; she doesn’t need or spend a lot of money on anything besides necessities.

I think no matter where she is, Pyrrha’s bedroom reflects the honest, almost charming simplicity of many of her essentials, with her most extravagant possessions being her combat gear and uniform. She at least has the former, so she has lost things she’d like back, but materially speaking there wasn’t much for her to be stripped of to begin with.

Mostly, I think what Pyrrha misses is hearing the rest of her team doze off one by one before she does.

♤ : Cooking headcanon

Cooking is an art of the senses in Pyrrha’s opinion: you should eat what can fuel you for the day; you shouldn’t overindulge; most of all, even though something might be easy, that doesn’t make it the best option, and you’ll be happier in the long run if you make a good choice now. (Ren’s pancakes are an easy exception to this loose guideline.)

Like everything else she encounters, Pyrrha approaches meals with a kind of positive diligence that’s made her (if not a master chef) pretty passable as a cook over the years, at least for herself. One finds…differing opinions among some of her companions, depending on the dish served, although the consensus on the 30 Day Nikos Diet is something along the lines of, “Jesus, why would you eat anything else if you’re gearing up for a big test or tournament??" That stuff is tried and tested. See: Pyrrha’s Mistral trophies.

Sometimes, because she is, of course, a premier Huntress-in-training, she has to swear whatever else she’s put on people’s plates next to the asparagus and bell pepper is not Grimm steak. It’s not. Seriously, that’s gross.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT PYRE NIKOS. Did I just make that up on the spot? Am I making all of this up on the spot? Maybe. sweats i actually haven’t thought extensively on presentationplay for pyrrha so i might edit or change my thoughts on this later and I actually love collaborating on presentationplay aus rather than coming up with them singularly *-*

Personality-wise Pyrrha’s really laidback so Pyre’s consideration would likewise extend to a kind of courteous respect for others, though perhaps a bit more wry in atmosphere; he might . Let’s just take one last moment to think about Pyre surrounded by female peers completely unaware of what a fab babe he is just passing out combat tips and inviting people to Ren’s midnight pancake parties and going “I’M SORRYYY”

☾ : Sleep headcanon

One of my favorite sleep headcanons for Pyrrha is the idea that she sometimes falls asleep sitting up, shoulders slacking as her hands fall to her lap and her book slips from her grasp. Pyrrha’s a ridiculously hard worker and never one to laze about - yet she doesn’t generally overwork herself. If crunch time came, though, I could definitely see her lapsing just a few times during the school year, and coming to a few hours later having been carried to bed by her team, or still dozing upright with her chin tucked into a blanket and her book properly placed on the desk in front of her. I also really love the idea of Pyrrha and the rest of Team JNPR checking up on one another regularly at night, not just because they’re housed together but because they’re so close and they care a lot about one another.

☠ : Drinking/drunk headcanon

DRUNK PYRRHA…more like fab Pyrrha. Since she’s underage, Pyrrha probably hasn’t gotten drunk in the past, though I can see her as having had alcohol in small amounts for special occasions. I actually think she’d have a somewhat laidback, yet restrained and safe, attitude regarding it. Drinking as a social activity is certainly something she understands; she’d want it to be done safely, because of the obvious effects of alcohol. She’d actually probably end up going Team Mom again if the rest of Team JNPR were to join her for, say, a coming of age/graduation gathering (rsvp byob).

Pyrrha could definitely be convinced by a social setting to drink more than she ever would alone, but her willpower is such that she would never allow it to get to the point where anything problematic might happen? That environment would have to be safe and contained, and there’d have to be a ton of food and water on hand to beat back hangovers and other shitty drinking side effects like Bad Decisions. Nora, please put Lie Ren down now. Jaune, that is a broom, not a girl.

Even absolved of some of her facilities, Pyrrha would clamp down on herself to make sure everyone she was with was okay, no matter if her face turns as red as her hair and never quite goes back to normal even after her glass is empty.

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?

A thoughtful noise, a flex and curl of her left hand even as the other goes to her hip: it’s not that Pyrrha lacks any number of activities, books, or companions to turn to, but that her poor mood mostly fades with time rather than distraction.

"I suppose…I might meditate or take a walk - perhaps reread a book or focus on schoolwork. Beacon is a demanding institution, you know. It hasn’t earned its prestige for nothing. There always seems to be something to do." And, of course, there’s her team (Jaune, stubborn and fresh-minded; Nora, enthusiastic as a problem-solver and as a sparring partner; Ren, too, with his fondness for everything in moderation and breakfast at night). For their sake Pyrrha would wade through a hundred bouts of touchy temper. They have places to be and Grimm to slay, after all.

She tucks a strand of red behind her ear, a soft, fond smile turning the corners of her mouth up.

"I’m told I’m best left alone when in distress, to tell the truth, but it’s very kind of others to approach me anyway."

She treasures those moments of comfort most of all.
