Unicorn ninjas, terminology, and David Bowie, oh my! Cat Rambo, Cecilia Tan, and Matt Weiteska join Julia Rios and Alex Acks to discuss Bisexuality in SFF. To accidentally celebrate Bisexual Visibi…
Thought this might be of interest to ZR people! And people in general! The podcast features Matt Wieteska, the director of Zombies, Run! who also wrote Jack and Eugene! Eugene does get discussed here!
Dear Diary,
today, Sam Yao wanted me to run after a chopper. I think that man has some delusions as to what real life humans can do and what belongs in a Marvel movie.
Dear Diary,
today, Sam Yao told me to jump off a building because apparently he played too much Mirror’s Edge.
Dear Diary,
today, Sam Yao manoeuvred us onto a ship full of Zombies. A moving ship. We had to swim back.
Dear Diary,
today, Sam Yao made me run after a moving train. I don’t know why I was expecting anything else.
Dear Diary,
apparently, aeroplanes are a thing again. Please don’t let Sam find out.

every other runner 5: actually runs, fit and active, probably on season 4 or 5 if not completely caught up
me: I have had this app for two or three years and I just started season 2 a week ago, I am here almost exclusively for That Gay Content, jogging a block winds me,
There’s gay content in Zombies, Run! ? I’ve literally only played the first stage but nearly killed myself trying chase mode and haven’t had to courage to try again. But if there’s gay content I’ll fire up that treadmill! (And just… Shut off chase mode. That had been a very bad call)
Oh yeah! There’s quite a lot of LGBT+ representation in it.
Radio mode has Jack and Eugene. Jack is gay, and Eugene is bisexual. There’s a black lesbian doctor and her bisexual Jewish girlfriend. There are others, but I don’t want to spoil things.

set after season 2 mission 7, when jack comes back to abel
-
When the door opens behind him, Eugene just about gets whiplash from how fast he turns around. He’s greeted by a grinning Jack with his arms spread, looking a little worse for wear but alive, so beautifully well and alive-
“Woah,” Jack laughs as Eugene almost trips lurching out of his chair, barely getting his crutches under him in time. “We got an eager fan here.”
“Shut up, shut up,” Eugene hisses as he crosses the room in a few short strides. “My god, you idiot, just-” He can’t seem to find the words, and instead opts to let himself all but collapse into Jack’s tight embrace.
“Hey,” Jack says, softer now, a hand coming up instinctively to rest in Eugene’s hair. “Missed you.”
Eugene doesn’t respond, just buries his face in Jack’s shirt and breathes in. He smells of dogs and coal dust, but underneath is that familiar scent, the smell of home. “I’m never letting you leave my sight again,” Eugene mumbles under his breath.
“What’s that?”
Eugene pulls back just enough to look into Jack’s eyes. “I said I missed you too.” Warmth rushes through him at the way Jack’s face breaks into a smile, a good, wide grin.
“Oohh, you sap,” he coos. “You absolute softie.”
“In case you forgot,” Eugene retorts, “I thought you were dead for about two weeks.”
Regret instantly fills Eugene as Jack’s expression falls. “Oh. Right. I’m- I’m sorry, again- are you still mad at me about that?”
Eugene sighs, rolling his eyes. “I’m not mad. It wasn’t really your fault, Jack. I was just… worried for a while there.” When Jack still looks sullen, he continues, “Now don’t you try to make me feel bad now, Mister Holden, I know your tricks.”
That draws a small laugh from Jack, much to Eugene’s relief. “Damn, and I thought I had you.”
The dumb shit-eating grin on his face fills Eugene with an affection he can’t quite explain. “God, I love you,” he mutters.
Jack cocks an eyebrow. “Sorry? I don’t think I caught that.”
Eugene smacks the side of his face gently—Jack makes an obnoxious sound of protest—and repeats, “I love you.”
Jack’s grin becomes a fond smile. “Love you too, ‘Gene.”
And then they’re kissing, and it feels so wonderfully right—feels like home. Jack’s lips are chapped, but warm against Eugene’s and familiar and perfect. Eugene could very well exist like this forever, Jack’s mouth on his and their bodies pressed close together, drinking in each other’s warmth.
“Don’t you dare leave me again,” Eugene says breathlessly when they break apart. Jack exhales a laugh.
“I won’t. Promise.”
“I don’t think I believe you,” Eugene replies, but is cut off when Jack resumes kissing him with the fervor of a man who hasn’t felt the touch of another human in years. Eugene has no choice but to reciprocate, though it’s not like he’d want to do anything else even if he did have another option.
“I’m never leaving you,” Jack gasps in another brief lull. “It was a stupid thing, I’m never doing it again.”
“Good.” Eugene rests a hand at the nape of Jack’s neck, just to hold him, just to be at home. “Because I need you.”
