I wasn't expecting this to go anywhere but the keyboard is 8vim! it's not perfect, it notably can't do emojis and obviously typing is gonna be slower than proficient two thumb typing, but for my clumsy self this is largely competing with swipe typing, and I'll always take the speed hit to not deal with autosuggest

First of the plied yarn from last night. Home stretch of tdf. The rest will be multicolor plied with this same color. Going to go slower on the plying so I don't wear myself out. That and I have an embroidery in extremely close to finishing.

maybe i'm just not american enough but i'm getting really fed up by people - even ostensibly progressive people - holding sexual art to the kind of standards that no other art is held to. like i saw someone on bsky say that there should be conversations about what kind of art should be allowed to exist, "especially sexual", and i'm just like ???? what the fuck do you mean, "especially sexual"? why? why not violent art? why is it okay for people to create violent art just because, without needing to defend or justify it, but the moment art is sexual you need some deep reason for it that justifies its existence?

everyone i've talked to about this has been completely unaware so: if you didn't know already, there's going to be a solar eclipse, with totality or coverage of 90% or more in some places, over a lot of europe, on august 12th 2026. in the uk it will start just after 6pm, and the maximum will be at 7:13pm.

Breaking my several year harry potter silence just to say that in the Apollo Justice Trilogy, they removed the harry potter reference they originally had in the game. Which means that if you still consume hp content and talk about it, you are doing worse than fucking capcom

There are multiple references to Doctor Who and Star Trek and a character probably named after someone from Battlestar Galactica of all things and 2. Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.

They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.

Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.

You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.

For journalism, activism, or domestic abuse situations, skip Windows and use Linux routed through Tor instead of a commercial VPN. A GDID doesn’t care which VPN you use, only that it’s still the same Windows installation.

Two things back that up:

There’s no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Apple’s advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Android’s works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.

Then there’s activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: “It’s impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].” Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.
