Hello all, yes another band announcement! We welcome another local band to our festival, and what a band they sound. Radio Riots are a four piece indie cover band who also have some of their own material. Although the lads (Joel Allport, Ollie Bond, Harry George and Ewan Griffiths) are all 17 years young outfit they still have three years under their belt as Radio Riots, Cockfest 3 will be the month of their 3 year celebration – how fitting. They are definitely growing in popularity throughout our lands, from Shrewsbury, to Telford to as far as Leeds and the Welsh Coast with their up and coming gig at Shrewsbury Quarry Fest and Wem Carnival (both in the same day!) be sure to go check them out.
They cover many bands from modern to some rock classics, such as The Killers, Artic Monkeys, Kasabian ,The Clash & The buzzcocks. We are definitely looking forward to Radio Riots making their Cockfest debut and wowing the crowds, but until then be sure to join them on facebook, check out their blogspot and listen to some of their material – all the links and info can be found on our band page.
The June 15 Stanley Cup hockey rampage has been called “the most documented riot in history,” and accurately so. Many who took part in it have felt not just the wrath of police and public officials, but also that of “Facebook vigilantes” who have posted incriminating photos, along with names and home addresses.
More than 200 arrests have been made following the riots, and scores of rioters, many identified online, have turned themselves in. The day after, a few preternaturally stupid rioters boasted online about their looting and destructive “exploits” on their Facebook pages. They were met with a firestorm of anger and threats of physical violence (and were “unfriended,” of course).
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) executive manager Ehab Saleh revealed Sunday that they intend to deduct points if any of the fans of any league club riot.
“The EFA received a warning letter from the interior ministry following the latest riots by fans," Saleh told Egyptian radio.
The interior ministry issued a stern warning on Saturday, saying it could cancel the domestic competition this season if troubles continue in the stands.
Egyptian League matches featured abusive banners and chants, not only against the opposing teams but also against the interior minister and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), which runs the country following the ouster of former president Hosni Mubarak.
“We haven’t forgotten Tahrir, you police bastards, when we taught you an unforgettable lesson,” Zamalek fans sang during their team’s 3-2 league win over Arab Contractors on Saturday.
The Red Devils supporters had their fair share in the protests, singing an anti-police song during the 2-2 draw with El-Entag El-Harby.
“You unwelcomed crow, you weren’t smart in school and you became an officer by bribery. Why do you spoil our joy? We will never obey you,” they chanted enthusiastically.
SEPT...3rd is a massive week end for the band. First they play at the White Lion in Wem for the Wem Carnival at 1.30 then we helicopter them out of Wem, asap.for the The Quarry Music Festival from 5pm onwards.

Royal Wedding, Food Riots and Radio Station Shut Down
KAMPALA, Uganda—Security forces firing on rioting protesters in the Ugandan capital killed five people Friday. The riots grew out of protests over rising food and fuel prices. The Kampala city center was deserted by midday, with all the shops and stores closed.
Richard Nataka, the secretary-general of the Uganda Red Cross Society, said protesters were engaging police in running battles in towns outside the capital. Two protesters were shot in the eastern town of Mbale, the Red Cross said.
The Uganda government continued to impose a strict ban on live coverage of the protests by local broadcasters. Ugandan local television stations on Friday opted to broadcast the royal wedding in the U.K., as riots raged on.
