Focusing on Yugi Prime because Yami Yugi is pretty much always shown with the bold eyeliner

While collecting evidence I thought at first that it might just be one of those "art style evolving over time" sort of deals, but now I'm convinced that it's deliberate. Here's Yugi in the early manga, depicted with minimal eyeliner/definitely no winged eyeliner:

vs. later in the first ~7 volumes, where he's definitely rocking some wings:

By the time we get to Duelist Kingdom it's always there. This is true in the anime as well:

Literallyㅋㅋㅠㅠ the director actually confirmed this! it was just a placeholder draft name during production because he's an excavator (probably from the word dexterous), but they forgot to replace it before it aired so now he’s just…Dexter
