No more gender-neutral passports
Trump has now also implemented another of his election promises. Following a decree by the Republican, the USA will no longer issue gender-neutral passports. According to a ministry spokesperson, the State Department will no longer issue US passports with the "X" gender option, and the processing of all passport applications from people who do not identify as either gender has been suspended, according to the State Department. Guidelines on how to deal with passports already issued with the "X" gender indication are to be published shortly.The first US passport with the gender-neutral "X" indication was issued in October 2021 during the presidency of Trump's predecessor Joe Biden. The US State Department has not published figures on how often such a passport has been applied for or issued since then.
Trump takes action against diversity programs
Trump campaigned against the "transgender craze" during the election campaign and announced that he would put an end to it on his first day in office. Immediately after taking office, he also ended the federal agencies' programs to promote diversity. On Friday, his administration ordered employees in the diversity programs to be fired.Trump had repeatedly described the programs as a waste of taxes and argued, among other things, that they discriminated against white men in particular.In the run-up to Trump taking office, numerous US companies had already scaled back their diversity measures, including McDonald's, Meta, Disney and Walmart.
