these get reposted a whole lot from here to reddit to twitter to tiktok and on and on, and i don't personally care whether or not i'm credited. i made these for everyone to use, enjoy, and find meaning in them. i appreciate folks who do credit me, but if able, please at least link to the threadless shop in the previous post - folks can get an official shirt where 90% of earnings go to trans led orgs focused on mental health (which is an important matter in general, but very personal to me) and not from a scam bot site selling AI-churned maga garbage where you probably won't get one anyway. i also suggest downloading the files from my ko-fi - they are free/PWYW and you can use them to make your own shirt, patch, embroidery project, whatever. tips are always nice, cuz i do like a pizza now and then, but never required for download.
final thought - breaking the pride tradition and more than likely won't make a new piece. the top one from TDOV is all i'm making this year. i have my focus on other projects currently and i don't want to force a poster design. these came from a specific head space and my current head space is Very Tired lmao so i wanna work on other things. 👍

The Way Things Have Been Going Lately by Ada Limón
Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.
I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.
Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.

i just— i didn’t know who else to call.
i keep opening my contacts like people become softer after midnight, like maybe if the world is quiet enough someone will finally hear me correctly.
the tone keeps ringing.
it’s stupid, because i already know you’re not gonna answer.
but i still wait through the entire voicemail beep every single time, like hope is a habit instead of a feeling.
so here i am, talking to a machine again.
my room smells like cold air and old perfume and the inside of my head feels like a house after a fire. everything still standing, just ruined.
i think something is wrong with me.
not in the dramatic movie way, not in the pretty poetry way, just in the quiet way.
the way dishes rot in your room. the way messages stay unanswered. the way you start apologizing before you even speak.
i don’t want to die. i just want everything inside me to stop being so loud.
today i laughed at something i didn’t even find funny because everybody else was laughing and i think that was the moment i realized i haven’t felt real in weeks.
anyway.
i cleaned my room today. made my bed. watered the plants. looked functional enough that nobody would ask questions.
you’d be proud of me for that, i think.
or maybe you’d just say “i’m sorry things are hard right now” in that careful voice people use when they don’t know what to do with you anymore.

I'm a very dry texter so people always assume I'm mad or annoyed or something with a text like "Wow thank you." and it's like I said I'm thankful so it means I'm thankful??? I hate how humans made words and then decided that words have different meanings based on the way you're saying it.

What I enjoy most about the Great Divide is how complicated it let's itself be. It's about a man who got famous from writing about the sadness of his upbringing, his town and the people in it. He commodified his trauma and made enough money of it to be able to leave. And yet leaving doesn't save him, the opposite. He misses his community so dearly, he wants the best for them, but it can never be the same again and it also isn't the same anywhere else. Staying or leaving, it's a push and pull and none of it will ever feel right and that's the divide he will have to live with for the rest of his life.

you get used to it, but it's tiring, because they need you to understand your own life as a series of goalposts. what college are you going to, what's your major going to be, whatcha gonna do with that, oh where will you settle down, when can i expect grandkids.
for the longest time my goals have been so blurry that they track into each other, their undefined edges slipping quietly back into the soft night. today i want to be a writer; tomorrow i will want to be a doctor, later i will wish i took that law school free ride. how the fuck do people just know what they want to do with their life?
where do you want to be in five years? i want to be alive; which is a huge step for me. ten years ago i would have said i want to be asleep and meant i hope that i'm dead by then.
but i want a yellow kitchen and a stand mixer. i want a garden and a fruit tree (cherry, if i can make that happen) and a big yard for my dogs to play in. i want to come home and read poetry out loud to someone and have them close their eyes to listen. i want a summer watergun fight. i want to make snowmen. i want to be the house to go to for halloween. i want my life to settle around me in a softness, for it to lay down gently. if i am very, very, very lucky, i want to travel; finally go someplace overseas.
of course i don't know what i want to be doing professionally. what i actually want to be doing is curling up beside my dog, settling in to read. i want to be making myself a cup of good coffee.
i can't answer the other questions. whenever people asked me what do you want to be when you grow up, i used to say i hope i'm happy.
i hope i'm still kind, five years from now. i hope i never get jaded and mean. i hope i have stayed in therapy. what do you picture yourself doing? when will you actually be an adult about this? why are you so afraid of being ambitious?
am i not ambitious? the other day i rearranged my furniture which doesn't quite fit into my apartment. i watered my plants. i'm going to try to propagate a cherry seed. my five year goal is to spend more time laughing. to lie down in a patch of sunwarm moss. to relax for a minute. to close my eyes and think oh thank god. this is why i stayed. this is finally it.
