[ That is a term Knuckles is not familiar with. Of course the title answers itself- it is obviously some sort of authority figure in charge of... in charge of what? That is what stumps him. What goes on in zones? If that were the case, surely he could have used assistance from a "zone cop" long ago!

"Err… Its no trouble. I can already tell you mean no harm. " He smiled back slightly, highly curious about where this alternate was from and what powers he had. The scent of high amounts of chaos energy emitted from the one below, yet that phased the guardian due to dealing with a similar kind of energy. "I don’t really see alternates of myself often, so it is nice to actually be talking to one."

I believe you're the third I've met now. In the span of a week or two, in fact.

[ Compared to the other two alternates this one seems the most.. normal. Knuckles of course did not have much to compare his lookalike to but the other had no particularly striking features-- not when compared to Scarlet's unusual attire or his space-exploring friend's ponytail. It is certainly not a bad thing however. In fact, Knuckles finds it rather refreshing. ]

Do you get many visitors who do mean you harm?

-He gave a somewhat Pleased purr to this. Eyes closing and nose pressed against his fur. Yes he was satisfied with this simple contact, at least for now. Half lidding his eyes as he looked up to him.

[ The echidna's arm rub quickly turns into a pat on the back as Heat nuzzles into his fur. The gesture is welcomed enough despite Knuckles' confusion and former hesitance. Heat is being nice, so why worry about the silly heebie-jeebies probably caused by Knuckles' own paranoia? The other is his friend and the guardian supposes that it is his job to act like a friend as well, whether or not strange things are going on. He has plenty of time to find out his answers.]

I'm sure your memories will come back to you soon.

[ He wonders if the lab people have anything to do with this change. The thought makes his jaw set-- he does not want to think about that. ]

Urge?

[ Knuckles- quite ignorant of the suggested topic at hand- cannot quite understand what type of urge his hedgehog friend is experiencing. Of course the natural instinct to mate is within himself as well but it is buried deep down and Knuckles lacks the proper knowledge to even think about it more than once every so often (when he sees animals, or a human couple, for example). And certainly not in depth! The extent of Knuckles' knowledge on the matter has come from a select few old books back on the island. They had only given him much to wonder.]

Sonic hadn’t been expecting more guests, and so when he found out that there was guests at his home, he blinked and shyly approached them. His people skills wasn’t the sharpest since the incident. “Hello? What are you doing here…?”

[ Knuckles has only just crossed this stranger and already he seems to be making the other uncomfortable-- he assumes as much, at least, and chooses to remain quite a distance away from the hedgehog to introduce himself. He finds it a little odd that this Sonic alternate approaches him so sheepishly. Usually the speedsters approach him with an unmistakable amount of confidence and sarcasm. ]

[ Knuckles cannot say the same for himself quite yet. It has been much too long since he was last attacked and it was bound to happen again sometime in the near future- but he tries not to fret about that too much currently. ]

Knuckles stood at the alter waiting for whatever could come his way despite it being soggy outside, until he spotted someone down below. “Well..er… hello down… there?” His eye twitched as he viewed the other. It can’t be… I thought others didn’t exist!

[ Another island, more terrible weather- Knuckles loathes the feeling of wet, squishy grass under his bare feet. He has no plans for staying long, and really would have not stayed at all, but he could not resist hunting down the guardian of this island to see what sort of alternate resides here. So far it is hard to tell anything just by appearances alone. Knuckles bows his head in a polite greeting and then watches the echidna above him with interest. ]

A pleasure. I hope you don't mind me visiting your isle, meeting alternates is always so fascinating to me.

The tyrant sat sideways in his throne, his legs crossed and kicked over the arm as he swirled his glass of red wine and looked he newcomer over. “Heh, look it this. The red ones must really like me” He mused.

Scourge?

[ Yes, the other certainly looks like Scourge- a Scourge covered in paint, that is. A spitting image if not for such strange color differences. There is also the matter of the other's energy, it too seems quite different from the last alternate of his that Knuckles had stumbled into. Stronger. Knuckles can tell right away that he has wandered into this hedgehog's home and he feels a little wary about the situation, shifting from foot to foot.]

... I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I was exploring, nothing more.

-He gave a Childish huff to the lean back, flicking his tongue at him in a strange pout. He tilted his head, letting his hand slide down from his cheek to his shoulder, to at least keep him There. His eyes Thinning, and mind Whipped to a complete Blank.

This being Had a Strong energy. And Energy attracted him like a cat to catnip.

-Oh, it seemed he’s leaned his muzzle in to poke his nose against Knuckles Chest, just under his crescent.-

[ Knuckles does not know what to make of the hand on his shoulder. It seems like a normal enough motion but for some reason it makes Knuckles feel trapped, as if Heat were purposely trying to keep him in place: which may have been true enough but Knuckles again shrugged it off as his own paranoia. He must be overreacting, that is all. For all he knows this is very normal for his hedgehog friend. He should not judge so quickly.

Though it is likely not a wise option to ignore instinct in this case.

What an odd little tongue tic. Though the guardian finds it even stranger that Heat remembers him but not the normal color of his own fur! Brows furrow and a hand is slowly placed on Heat's arm when the experiment leans forward to press his nose onto the echidna's crimson chest. He does not push the other away but instead simply pats the arm softly, frown wide and eyes glimmering with puzzlement. ]

I met someone recently who said they lost their memories. Maybe something happened to you like that..?

You look nice, I don't mean anything of it.. just.. different.

[ This is not Heat.

The energy feels like Heat only stronger-- but it surely cannot be him. He looks different. He sounds similar but stranger, darker, eerier. Knuckles flinches when one silver hand grazes his face but he does not move back. How curious. The other knows him and does not fear to touch him: the only plausible explanation is that this hedgehog must be Heat. Knuckles cannot imagine what could have happened to make his friend change to such an extreme.

As Heat leans in Knuckles leans back. It is not that he would mind kissing Heat, he has never before experienced an actual kiss on the lips, but it seems so abrupt- and he is still very concerned for Heat and why the other is acting so very strange. His silvery fur is pretty but his appearance unnerves the echidna. Knuckles wonders if he is just being very paranoid. ]

...I only ask because..

Fleety made no effort to move. Just watched the other curiously. “A while. A dear friend of mine gave her to me… And she’s been my best friend ever since. We do everything together. And we decided when the time comes we will die together as well" he said holding her carefully.

[ Knuckles' stomach drops. This is rather sad although he does not show it, he does not want to make the other feel worse with his pity. He just tries to smile- noticing just how carefully the hedgehog holds his precious plush- and nods as if he understands exactly what Fleetway means. Although rather depressing it is a bit sweet. Everybody needs something to care for.]

I like her. She's very cute.

What made you choose the name "Bonnie"?

"What you need is an isolation suit of some kind. Such a thing is easy to procure, yes? Something that can at least reduce people’s exposure to the radiation from your body." A pause as he laughed, "Lucky? Hardly. It was a level of pain that none should experience. Fate was on my side that day, to be honest."

Isolation suit?

[ Knuckles is not sure what he should be feeling about this idea. He does not exactly understand what an "isolation suit" would be- the first thing that comes to mind are the hazmat-esque suits that the G.U.N. scientists would wear around him. Those would be uncomfortable to live in and hard to fight in- his heart drops a little. If a chaos scientist says that it is the only way to work it out, then it really must be true. He decides that he does not want to talk voice his negative and terribly selfish opinions on the idea right now.

He focuses back on the doctor's story again. ]

Fate is funny.

Are you not happy to be alive? Even if the pain was terrible, it's over now, isn't it?

"It is a long story, but the shortened version is it is a result of my attempts to use an invention of mine to siphon the excess Chaos Energy from your alternate. There was an explosion at the console controlling the siphon, and some of your alternate’s energy was transferred into me. The specifics of why my appearance was changed still eludes me." 

A pause as Finitevus raised up one hand slightly, black energy appearing and covering said hand. “But don’t think it was anything bad. On the contrary, it granted me new and powerful abilities.”

[ That certainly is a story. 

A pity that the siphon did not work. That seemed like something foolish G.U.N. would try-- and something Knuckles would have certainly tried if offered, had he not heard Finitevus' story. He feels a little bad for the doctor, at least until he sees that flare of black energy. It makes him step back with wide eyes. What a strange energy! It fills him to the very bone with a rather eerie and uncomfortable feeling. But it is still quite curious. ]

I've never seen it like that. That's.. actually, kind of neat. How did you learn you could do that?

It's a good thing you weren't hurt! You're lucky to be alive. 

..Hey.. you're a chaos energy scientist.

[ He is quite aware that he is stating the obvious. But he does have a point behind it. ]

Your siphon may not have worked... but do you think you could create.. create something to contain the energy inside me? Something to stop it from making people around me sick?

[ Not that the other has any reason to. It is not Finitevus' problem. But Knuckles still thinks it is worth a try. ]

Before I forget about it:  Knuckles' "super" form!!

Knuckles has never gone into this state before and it could only be triggered by the master emerald.

The transformation itself would be disastrous. It would create a blast of chaos energy akin to a miniature nuclear bomb. It is only in this state that Knuckles would actually be able to use chaos abilities of any sort-- and chances are that his enemies would sooner fall of radiation injuries before he ever even attempts to attack. Fortunately for any third party involved this super state would not last very long at all (not even several minutes) and it also would take its damage on Knuckles once he returns to normal.

-He couldn’t help a big, silly smile forming on his lips. His naturally hued blush churning a bit deeper to the kiss. Yeah. He was honestly happy. It seemed to be the sweeter and more meaningful things made his muzzles flush shades deeper. He didn’t mind one bit, in fact being quite happy from the gesture.

He always thought it was normal. Affectionate gestures and hints. Touches and kissing, always something of that nature. But to him kissing meant a lot. It meant a lot to him.-

Good. We’re both at eachothers service. No if’s, and’s, or but’s,

-he acted a bit more like a child with a crush this time, leaning down a bit further, and raising their entwined fingers up to his muzzle, to softly nuzzle his warm cheek against Knuckles fingers, Thinking of something he and Clyde used to do, when he was smaller that is.

He remembered how it went. Though.. He didn’t make many promises.

They were Fragile.

As fragile as a glass vase, Easy to break. Easy to shatter.

But he thought he could trust this being.-

Lets Pinkie promise on it. That I’ll always be there for you. And you’ll always be there for me?

-And with that he slipped his bandaged hand from in the others dreadlocks, closing his fingers, except for his smallest, showing it and seeing if the other would give him the honor, the honor of sealing a promise to call when needed. Though it was fragile, he was very willing to make it for him.

He always did his best to keep his promises.

The last being, that he would not take his own life. Which, would very well break if he saw he endangered someone.-

You did it Beautifully. And I don’t mind at all, You’re a friend. You’re allowed to give me kisses as much as you like.

-He say’s, still smiling quite largely for himself, being a smile that seemed to stretch a quarter over his muzzle-

[ The touches to his hands feel exceptionally nice. His hands are calloused and scarred and use to nothing but punching and hitting. These gentle sensations, a warm, fuzzy cheek to his fingers for example, causes the echidna to practically beam, tail slowly swaying from side to side in a comfortable and pleased manner.

With his free hand he reaches out to lightly feel Heat's fur, momentarily studying the black fur on the hedgehog's shoulder. It is a pretty shade, Knuckles thinks. He is quite fond of how it looks in the light. Knuckles often finds himself attracted to white and cream and, at a slightly lesser extent, black furs, more than any other color pelt-- the way one might be attracted to blondes or brunettes. He is quite jealous of the other's pretty fur and neat stripes (though not in a negative way whatsoever).

Once again he meets eye contact with Heat when the hedgehog speaks. A pinkie promise? He is not quite sure what that means, but it seems to be some sort of promise-binding rule. That seems quite alright with him. He has no intentions of breaking his promise and does hope that the other feels the same way. As Knuckles feels Heat's free hand move out of his spines and watches the other hold up a pinkie, he smiles and does the same- and then, not quite sure how to carry out the gesture, touches fingers softly. ]

I promise.

Until time itself stops.

[ Hearing that his kiss had been correct makes Knuckles even happier. By now his cheeks already hurt from smiling: surely he has never grinned so wide and for so long in his entire life! But it is a good sort of hurt and he feels too content to care. In fact he leans out to touch noses again briefly. Knuckles cannot say that he has made any promises in his life, not that he can remember- but he already knows that he will not break it. A guardian's word is true. ]

I am glad to be able call you a friend, Heat.

You're very unique. I like that. And you make me feel very nice- I'm not generally very use to that.

That earned Knuckles a snicker. “My alternates? Feh. I ain’t nothin’ like them, and they ain’t nothin’ like me.” Arms crossed over his chest and he snorted. “I’ve met three or four of em. Can’t say I like em much… I don’t understand em, really.” Even though, once upon a time he had been just like them. 

"But nah, I’d much rather hang around Scar." The smile effectively quelled his unease. So Knuckles hadn’t meant anything by it. "Why haven’t ya been around people much, bud? That ain’t healthy, ya know… I hang around people all the time. Ray, Scarlet, Blaze, Shads."

Seems a little unlikely that you'd have nothing in common with your others.

Not liking them, though, I can understand that. It's a little weird to talk to yourself, isn't it?

[ Knuckles cannot say that he dislikes any of the three alternates of himself he has met- but they can definitely be hard to hang out with sometimes. It is definitely weird to encounter somebody who looks as if they could be your twin. But it is true that all of them had been very different from each other, and from him, too. The multiverse is very strange. ]

Yeah, Scarlet's decent company.. Oh, I think I know Ray, too. And several Shadows, though my own would very well like to rip my head off and use it as a footrest, I dare say.

I don't believe I've ever met anybody named Blaze.

[ He frowns a bit at the question. ]

I live on a very secluded island. Just starting to get the hang of company now. It's not so bad when nobody wants to kill you.
