Ice King x reader
Synopsis: (this does not take place on the fn map) The Foundation has come, conquered your village, and held you hostage. They told you it is for the better; your world is unstable and they are trying to help. Your village doesn’t agree, and when you are sent off to declare their war, you ask the Ice King for help.
A/N this is my first fic and I lowk don’t know how to work tumblr. I plan on making multiple more parts for this fic. This is absolutely not canon, I just made a storyline in my head. (also why is there no fics for this sexy fine king?) Enjoy :)
Chapter 1
~ Great First Impression! ~
~In the throne room~
Your feet scramble against the ground as you hurry toward the Ice King’s throne room, your breath coming a little too fast in your chest. You don’t have much time—the Foundation wanted you to tell him as soon as possible. As you approach the heavy doors, your steps falter, your limbs feeling frozen in place, almost as if the frigid castle itself has immobilized you.
You hesitantly raise your hand and knock, your knuckles barely brushing the wood, only for the door to swing open almost immediately. Your eyes catch sight of the intimidating king seated upon his throne. His gaze locks onto yours, sharp and unmoving, with a look you can only describe as superiority.
“Kneel,” he says.
Your stomach drops, and you instantly obey, lowering yourself to the ground before you can second-guess it, your hands pressing against the cold floor for balance.
“Your Highness,” you say quickly, your voice tight. “I was sent by the Foundation to inform you of their declaration of war.” Your gaze stays fixed on the ground, your shoulders slightly hunched as you speak. You don’t dare look up, fearing he might kill you right then and there. Even mentioning their name is enough to warrant death.
“The Foundation? You dare show your face in this kingdom?” he says, his voice cold and forbidding. “Why would they send a mere mortal girl to declare war for them?”
He slowly rises from his throne, the movement unhurried, and walks toward you with deliberate steps that echo through the room. “You have no business in war, girl. What are you doing here?” He begins to circle you, his presence lingering at your back, then your side, as if weighing you, waiting for an answer.
“The Foundation has captured my village and holds us prisoner.” Your fingers curl slightly against the floor. “I was sent as a sacrifice. I know I have no place in a war,” you say meekly, your voice quieter now, still staring at the ground.
He stops directly in front of you, and before you can react, his hand grips your face, firm and unyielding, tilting your head up. Your breath hitches at the sudden contact. From this angle, the sheer size of him becomes impossible to ignore—his 6’4 frame built of pure muscle, towering over you.
“And how do I know you’re not lying?” he asks, his eyes narrowing slightly. “You could be a spy, trying to infiltrate my kingdom. Tell me why I shouldn’t kill you right here.”
Your body stiffens with terror, your pulse pounding in your ears. What if he doesn’t believe me? What if he kills me?
“I don’t know what the Foundation wants or what they plan to do,” you say, your voice trembling despite your effort to steady it. “Your Highness, they took my village—I have no part in this war.” Your hands tighten into your clothing. “Please—please help us. We need you.”
Your words break as tears spill over, your vision blurring. “I don’t want to die.”
He stares into your eyes for what feels like eons, his grip loosening just slightly, though he doesn’t let go.
“Tell me, then,” he says lowly, his head tilting just a fraction, “what will you give me in return for helping you and your people? Why shouldn’t I solely help and protect my own?”
You hesitate, your breath catching as you try to think, your fingers twitching at your sides once he releases you. “I could relay information to you.” Your hands slowly curl into your palms. “That should help you,” you say, hoping it would be enough.
“A spy?” he says, a quiet chuckle escaping him. “I suppose you would be unsuspecting enough.” His gaze lingers on you, cold and assessing. “Stand.”
You push yourself up quickly, a bit unsteady at first before forcing yourself to stand straight under his watchful eyes.
“You will be my spy, and I will help your people.”
Your breath catches as you look up at him, eyes widening. “Thank you, Your Highness. I will do my best to serve you,” you say, your voice slightly breathless.
“I will have a room prepared for you tonight while I discuss the situation with my troop commander.” He gestures lazily to a man behind you without breaking eye contact. “He will escort you there. You are dismissed.”
He pauses, his expression hardening just slightly. “And while you’re here, don’t try anything, or you will die.” The cold tone sends a sharp chill down your spine, your shoulders tensing involuntarily.
“Of course, Your Highness,” you reply instantly, dipping your head as you turn to leave, your steps quick as you resist the urge to look back on your way to your room.
~In your room~
“Holy shit,” you breathe, your back hitting the door as you slide down it. “He didn’t kill me.” Your shoulders immediately loosen, tension draining from your body as you sink to the ground, your head tipping back against the wood.
What are you going to do now? The Foundation will surely catch you sneaking information.
You let out a quiet huff, pushing yourself up as your eyes scan the room. It’s decently sized, with a bed far nicer than anything the Foundation ever gave you. You walk over slowly, your fingers brushing over the comforter, lingering as the softness sinks in beneath your touch. It feels like a cloud.
You hesitate for a second before climbing onto the bed, the mattress dipping beneath your weight. Lying back, you stare up at the ceiling, your brows knitting slightly as you contemplate your next move.
“I can’t screw this up, or I’m dead meat,” you mutter to yourself, one hand dragging down your face as you try to think it through. “I’ll head back in the morning… but for now, I have to rest.”
You shift under the covers, pulling them up around you, your body curling slightly as the exhaustion finally catches up. Your eyes flutter shut, your breathing slowly evening out as you drift off, trying not to think about the predicament you’ve put yourself in.
