Claw machine: Put them in a claw machine for people to try and get them. Works best with tiny whumpees.

Pin the tail on the donkey: Blindfold your guests and watch them try to pin the tail on the whumpee.

I was thinking about this line in Skybound, when the ninja are on the run in Stiix:

Jay says, "No, no. We're not the ninja. We're that other group with a Nindroid, a ghost, a girl—"

And I think the subtle misogyny is really interesting here. According to Jay, having a girl on their team is weird. At least, as weird as having a robot and a ghost. At this point in Ninjago, robots and ghosts really aren't integrated into society (I would guess that they're mostly seen as villains after Seasons 3 and 5) so it makes sense that a titanium and a transparent ninja would stand out.

But by including Nya as a weird one, that kind of implies that having a girl in a hero group doesn't make sense? I'm not sure if that's a reflection of Ninjago as a whole (because this is the same season that doesn't have any female police officers!) or just Jay's internal misogyny that still views Nya as an outsider.

As we've discussed plenty of times before, Skybound attempts to talk about misogyny, but never really gets anywhere with it. Despite his attempts to stand up for Nya, Jay himself acts in a sexist way at the beginning of the season- forgetting to include her in the advertisement, lying to her after reading Cliff's journal, wanting to wish for love, etc. And as always, I wish that had been more directly related to his character arc.

Maybe in the lighthouse, after seeing the way Nadakhan treats Nya first hand, Jay realizes how much of a jerk he was, and sincerely apologizes to Nya, and you see him take attempts to treat her better as the season ends (even something as simple as changing the wording of his wish so he isn’t demanding her hand). Specifically, having him realize that 1- his worth doesn't depend on someone's romantic attraction to him and 2- Nya is her own person and deserves respect and the freedom to make her own choices.

The threads are all there. They just need to be connected. Anyway, this is why I personally think Nya has the more compelling Skybound arc between the two of them.

I think the line was more about the outside’s view of the ninja. Nya joinning the team was pretty mainstream in the montage e1, so beside a ghost, fruit-colored clothes, and a robot, the other key to recognize the ninja is sadly a girl. 😛🔫

I really like the inernal misogyny option though, it explains on a deeper level why he had to say that of all things! Could’ve stopped his sentence, or made a joke for the town folks to look the other way, but he just had to be so fricking unlikeable and say that
