“Nope. Definitely not why I came to see you though that does sound like something I’d be curious about and I’ll definitely have to get you to show me that again some time. For now though I was gonna see if I could tempt you outside. I dunno if you’ve noticed but it’s a bloody gorgeous day and you’re sat in here on that.” Reid stated with a grin.

Rafael looked to the other and then to the window, noting that he had closed the blind nearly all the way meaning the room he was sitting in was rather dark. “I can’t say I noticed, no. I tend not to be one for sunlight very often, but I guess sitting in here, in the dark, with a screen in front of me isn’t all that good, huh?” He chuckled, putting the phone down and stretching in his seat. “What did you have in mind?”

Clearly it wasn’t anything she was actually interested in, or least she didn’t need to know the answer. “Can’t the screen get bigger too though? I mean, I guess there’s only so movement that you can do once the snake eats most of those dots…”

“Sorry, I should have asked what it was you were here for first rather then launching into an explanation of a muggle mobile game from 1997.” He chuckled, feeling a little guilty for getting ahead of himself and not letting the other have a chance to speak before he had rambled. “No, it stays the same size- that’s what makes it so challenging. You have to ensure you make the correct moves or else it’d be game over.”

“Touché. Some of the syrups in these drinks make residue sticky as hell,” she grimaced, definitely having to exhaust a few spells to get some spots clean again in the past. “One can hope,” Val laughed, tossing some more stray rubbish into the black plastic bag she was wandering around the bar with. “Are you seriously suggesting that glitter is magic’s Kryptonite?” she raised a brow only to burst into another laugh. “Merlin– iconic,” Valeria shook her head. “I mean there’s something to it though. Even if this world is completely dead and gone some day, I’m fully convinced there will still be specks remaining. A post-apocalyptic world is surely filled with cockroaches and glitter.”

“I dread to think if there were other substances apart from drinks on the floor making it equally as sticky.” He commented, looking to the ground for a moment and moving from his spot as though he found that where he chose to stood was particularly infected. At his sister’s words he took a minute, thinking over the similarities of the two before nodding with a small laugh, “I guess I am.” Rafael smiled at the others analogy before shrugging ever so slightly, “Well you know scientists say that stars are just gas and fire, what if in reality it was just all the accumulated glitter that was in the atmosphere projects across the night sky.”

“You’re like a walking encyclopaedia aren’t you and you aren’t even doing it to show off.” Where as if Orion did it, he was definitely doing it to display his intelligence and not just to inform people. “I get the impression you veer towards anything vintage, not merely limited to media but go for it if it makes you happy.” At the suggestion that someone was trying to get rid of him, Orion’s expression couldn’t have been any more offended if he tried. The envelope was swiped back. “You know what. I might take this back with me and explain that you weren’t here and that in your place an arsehole decided to irritate me enough that I didn’t want to give it to them.” It wasn’t so much of a threat as just a passing suggestion. “Maybe when your back is turned I will mess with all your gadgets and gizmo’s flicking all the switches and adjusting the wiring. In fact, i’ll delete your high score or even worse, beat it.”

“Why would I be doing it to show off?” He couldn’t help but question, because he simply liked sharing what he knew with others. Even if he could be clueless at times and not pick up on cues that meant that people didn’t want to hear him going into some great explanation about something they frankly didn’t care about. “I was trying to be an arsehole, I was just simply stating a possibility of what might be happening.” He shrugged, realizing that his words could have in fact come off as a little rude. “You say that like it’d be something that would upset me, I enjoy putting things back together and if you beat my high score then I’d simply just keep playing until I achieved the top spot again.”

“Oh yes because that’s what this place was missing– sparkle,” Val replied sarcastically before cracking a smile at her brother’s attempts. “I appreciate you always looking on the bright side, though. Let’s hope whoever spots the remaining fragments thinks as positively as you do,” she added with a laugh as she continued to clear more things up. “Merlin don’t even say that– now I’m paranoid. If I bring it back to our place in any way, shape or form… we will never see the end of this stuff,” she shuddered. “We’ve got magic. Why haven’t we come up with an anti-glitter spell yet? Those wizards in charge of making new spells should totally get on that.”

“I don’t know, I’d much rather be stepping on glitter then having my shoe stuck to the floor because there were around ten people spilling their drinks in one really specific spot over and over again.” Rafael chuckled, “I’m sure if they don’t at first, after a few drinks in their system they’ll be more agreeable.” Raf took a seat at the bar as he watched his sister clear up. “I think they have to put limitations on our magic because otherwise we’d be too powerful and nothing would be able to stop us, having unlimited power should never be a thing. Even if handed to someone who you think has no ill intentions, I feel like holding that much power would corrupt them in some way.”

Marcus had to give a snort of amusement at that. “You know, I really do worry about you some times. Is this what you call work?” The dark haired male questioned as he came up beside Rafael to have a look at his screen. “I was saying I am planning on going out for lunch. I know you squirrel yourself away in here so I was seeing if you want me to pick you up a sub or something.”

“Why’s that?” Raf couldn’t help but ask, looking up at the other now that the game had ended, high score still not beaten. “Well, no- this is what I call a break.” He commented, gesturing to where there was a half eaten ham sandwich and a quarter full packet of Walkers on his desk. “As you can see I’ve pretty much sorted, but if you’re going out, I wouldn’t say no to a tea.”

“I mean snake’s good fun and all. I was always pretty partial to brick breaker myself,” Cyrus chuckled, assuring Rafael that he’d listened to everything he’d gone on about. He was always there to lend a keen ear after all. “I was going to ask if you’d come with me to this new exhibit at the V&A museum. I wanted to check it out and I thought we could make a day of it. Grab something to eat and walk around if you’ve got the time of course.”

“I think I know which one you’re talking about, reminds me a lot of Pong actually. Also a game that I could get stuck playing for hours.” He wasn’t sure if it was the repetitive nature of the game, or the simplicity of it, but it stole his attention for hours. “What’s the exhibit about?” He couldn’t help but ask, knowing he was going to agree to the trip, especially when he couldn’t say no to a trip to a museum, or just the muggle world in general. “But I’ve got time, as you can probably tell I’ve caught up with all I needed to for today. Hence the snake.”

“That doesn’t sound cannibalistic at all.” Orion found himself responding dryly from where he was resting up against the door frame. “I’m just trying to figure out how you’ve managed to lose so many hours playing that. Tik Tok I get. A little set of low grade dots on a screen is lame comparatively speaking.” He explained, kicking away from the wall and moving further into the room. “I ended up being the lackey. I don’t even work in this department but this is for you apparently. You really need better owls.” Orion plonked the brown A4 envelope into Rafael’s arms, blocking the view of his screen.

“I mean, in the animal world I wouldn’t say it was cannibalistic at all. There are a lot of species who will kill and eat it’s own kind. Chimpanzee’s for example, which is fascinating given we’re so closely related to them. In some ways, we could be called weird for not using human bodies as a food resource.” He told the other, realizing once again that this wasn’t information the other had asked for, he had simply gotten stuck on a thought and let his mouth spill whatever was going on in his brain. “It’s actually quite interesting, actually. I tend to gravitate towards the more ‘vintage’ forms of media, there always seems to be a lot more detail and effort going into them compared to a lot of this computer generated stuff.” He continued before inspecting the envelope the other had put down in front of him, “Our owls are as good as any, maybe someone was simply trying to get rid of you, did you ever think about that?”

“Remind me to never agree to host another party like that at my bar ever again,” she groaned, tossing some more trash away while some dishcloths and a mop magically cleaned the area in the far corner of the establishment. “Who puts glitter in a piñata? I thought it was always candy and confetti – not glitter. I’ll never get that shit out of my floors.”

“I don’t know, it definitely adds a little, you know-” He gestures to where the floor was glittering under the lights. “Glimmer to the whole place. A little sparkle.” He tired to explain, before turning back to his sister. “I don’t know why I’m trying to justify it, glitter is the devil and we both know it. Just try not to track it back into the house, otherwise we’ll be stuck with it there too.”

“It’s called snake, you’ve got to use the little arrows on the keypad to get the snake on the screen to eat all the little dots, but as soon as it eats them, it’s body get’s longer.” Rafael explained to the other, his brows furrowed and tongue poking out the side of his mouth a little in concentration. “And the real bugger is that if you go the wrong way, you could eat your own body and it’s game over.” He continued, before looking up from the device to the other. “But something tells me that’s not what you asked me and I simply go away from myself. What were you saying again?”
