I want balloons for my birthday. I want to wake up to my friends shouting happy birthday. I want flowers on my doorsteps. I want a note to follow instructions that would take me to a backyard where youâd be waiting for me with a box of my favourite pizza. I want all of that but what I get every birthday are excuses, emails from amazon wishing me birthday and stupid cards from my distant aunts. I get nothing which reminds me iâm special because maybe i am not. half my friends wouldnât even care if I stop showing up for class, or I randomly disappear. thatâs the sad part. the people who want to be loved the most, never get flowers on their birthday.

cute date idea: we sit by the river and watch the sky. you talk about the universe and I canât help but grin at the fact your eyes shine brighter than the sun rising in the background. you are my universe. i want to love you forever.
Humans and Animals are Weird
You probably have seen plenty of Human are Weird/Space Orcs, but what if this weirdness isnât exclusive to Humans. How about animals? I donât mean a fox launching like a rocket to land face first on its food and get stuck vertically in snow, but something a bit closer to home
Imagine the crew making a stop on Earth, and most of the beings make the sensible thing and they stay indoors, away from all that Human madness, but there one who decides to âget a tourâ as Human Maria put it.
Yo'lan is fascinated by humans, so xe jumped to the chance of experiencing Earthâs public transport with xer Human friend.
The pair make their way to the metro, waiting with all the other small Humans, when two of xer 5 eyes see something that looks out of place. A small gray bird is on the platform, seemingly unafraid of the much larger Humans around it. Yo'lan looks around, but no Human seems to think thereâs anything unusual about it so Yo'lan simply watches.
Yo'lan still remains quiet when a big furred creature makes its way next to the bird and sits down, looking towards the metro tracks.
A few moments later the metro finally arrives and the two animals stand up to follow a door as it slows down. Yo'lan follows Human Maria and they take two empty seats. Still, Yo'lan keeps three eyes on the two animals as the larger one lays down across two seats, stretching its front paws out, while the bird waddles between two seats, snuggly settling down in the space between seats.
Some humans take out some of recording devices to make a short recording of the animals, but nobody says or do anything about the apparently wild animals.
âHuman Maria,â Yo'lan finally breaks, turning towards xer friend. âWhy is that dog in the metro?â
âThatâs a coyote,â Human Maria looks at the furry creature as the coyote opens its maw wide in a yawn. The smaller human makes the shoulder-lift motion as a smile crosses her face. âWell, heâs obviously tired, maybe he didnât want to drive back home?â
Later that night, Yo'lan was still trying to process what Maria told xer. Wild species mimicking Human behaviors, something Humans found endearing and common enough to simply take it as part of their everyday lives, but not more than that. Could this be why they allowed so many animal species without an apparent use to continue living alongside them? Could the humans have found a kinship towards these wild creatures that still tried to live like them?
Regardless, such philosophical thoughts could wait for another day. Yo'lan was now busy with the discovery that Humans had literally hundreds of Earth years worth of recordings of animals behaving outside their instincts, and xe intended to absorb as much info as xe could.
Maybe it was not just Humans that are weird, maybe every native of this planet was weird!
ââââââââ-Â
Think of those street cats and dogs begging for headpats from random strangers, a crow asking a human to open a water bottle, all kind of dogs and cats taking the bus or the metro to visit their owners at work, pets having discussions with their humans, all the pizza rats!
This was very much inspired by a twitter video of a pigeon waiting for the train, walking into the car like it owned the place and then sitting on the space between cars, and also by a gif of a coyote chilling on two seats in the bus.
with all the âHumans are Weirdâ posts fluttering about, I figure itâs only a matter of time before some poor, harried alien captain asks âWhy are you all like this?!â
To which the human responds âAlright first, my friend, you know exactly nine humans, so your sample group isnât enough to say weâre all like this, but I get the idea. Second, have you ever seen human sci-fi movies? We came out here expecting everything to want to eat us or experiment on us and frankly our little group is just relieved that we havenât met anyone like that yet. We get kinda giddy when weâre relieved. Jonesâ team over in B quadrant? Totally different. Theyâre still convinced weâre going to run into a species that attaches to your face and lays eggs inside you.â
Captain Asilidae considers this, and twitches their antennae in a direction that Human-Dawn has learned means understanding. âThere is species that does that in my databanks, actually,â they say, âTwo or three solar systems from here on a jungle planet. Iridescent amphibious bipeds that look slightly like your âunicornsâ. Theyâre extremely endangered though.â
Human-Dawn makes the appendange-flopping motion that apparently means âreliefâ. Itâs hard to tell with humans. âOh, well thatâs good. I mean, not that theyâre endangered, thatâs kind of rough for anyone, but hey, it means thereâs a low chance of us meeting them. And if we do end up there â because frankly this ship has abysmal luck â we can take some photos, preserve some records because they sound super weird, but we stay waaay out of their way.â
Ah yes, luck. One of the few concepts that Asilidaeâs species and the humans understand equally. And sheâs not wrong about their luck. Asilidaeâs crew has a penchant for getting into very bizarre situations, only half the time caused by their nine human companions. âHuman-Dawn,â they say gently, âI think you have âjinxedâ us in the human phrase.â
Human-Dawn makes an exclamation referring to the plural form of a certain Earth rodent. Asilidae is not certain why that is relevant.
Humans are weird-Phobias
Jumping on the âHumans are Space Orcsâ train
Imagine how an alien species reacts to badass humans coming face to face with phobias that seem really insignificant?
Take Arachnophobia - Like, their human can stare down an alien species thatâs the aggressive 8 foot love child of Mothra and a Grizzly bear, but put them in the same room as a daddy long legs? No dice, that human is more likely to depressurize that particular section of the ship than deal with any kind of arachnid.
Or Acrophobia - Science crew members are grabbing samples of a bio luminescent cliff dwelling plant species? No way friend, your human botanist isnât going anywhere near that edge even if itâs âOnly a 40 meter dropâ and the plant starts releasing bright pink lightning bugs, thank you very much.
Maybe Hemophobia - One of the human primary away crew members, like, one of the first ones to ever step foot on a new planet, regardless of risk, the one thatâs slogged through sulfuric marshes and been elbow deep in the mystery goo seeping out of the side of a plant like structure that looks vaguely like a Womping Willow, does NOT do blood. They see one drop and theyâre out cold, and lemme tell you the first time they went to med bay was an EXPERIENCE for the rest of the crew members.
And God forbid they see anything clown or doll related in their travels. The first time the crew had a free day at one of the interplanetary antiquity exchanges, a few of the Interstaff Relations Officers try to get welcoming gifts for some of the new humans that recently joined them. The humans last about a day before they give in and all thatâs left of the circus themed porcelain dolls are a few singed polka dot ribbons and some eerily whole shards of the dollsâ faces.Â
Humans can definitely handle a lot of shit, but make them face their slightly irrational fears? Theyâre out faster than their captain can blink one of his 13 eyeballs.
Space Australia: Maps
Okay, so new post/thread: maps!
How about all the old maps we have of Earth that arenât quite right, and we show our new Alien Friends ⢠how we learned about our planet and how we kept updating our maps until weâd seen pretty much the whole planet and they think, wow cool, some history from the Terrans and itâs all pretty cool so the aliens, they go to the Internet to look up some more maps andâŚ
Fantasy worlds in fantasy books with their own dedicated maps so the reader can follow the story line.
Steampunk-type worlds where pretty much the whole thing is desert, swamp, and dusty brush with giant iron cities and railroads and blimps, and mountains every so often too.
DnD maps from the THOUSANDS of Role Players out there, omgâŚ
And then the aliens start to think wow⌠these TerransâŚ
They must own. SO. MANY. PLANETS!!!!
So they all kinda nope off for awhile so they can scan all the systems around Earth, looking for all those worlds these Terrans mustâve at some point conquered⌠and find nothing. And how would the Terrans even use all those planets anyway? They donât have FTL communications yet, as far as the aliens knew. And theyâd only just started their journey into space, so what is it these Terrans are capable of that they have so many planets..?
Humans are space orcs post
Saw a lot of these posts, decided to share my ideas.
Aliens already understand how tough and durable humans are; but imagine them finding out about special forces. Like that would be terrifying. A human that can eliminate a threat quickly and quietly, adapt to many different environments and seems to have no problem killing a threat.
Also competitive eating. The aliens are just like: âYou eat and drink sometimes lethal amounts of sustenance? FOR SPORT?!â
Humans Are Weird
Have you ever noticed how humans love talking about their problems? Not like important or emotional problems, things like âIf I touch poison ivy my entire body swells almost double.â âOh thatâs nothing. If I eat a tomato my eyes grow double in size and can pop out of my head.â âMy bunions get super dry and flaky if I donât moisturize twice daily and I am able to shed an entire layer of foot skin.â
We love sharing nasty body facts. So imagine Engineer Xathner has had a long day monitoring the warp core, and just wants a nice dinner before bed, but the humans at the table next to him are swapping stories about what happens to them if they eat bread or touch a cat. Xathner has never heard such disgusting profanity! And it just seems to keep getting worse and worse with each round! At this point he is surprised these humans are alive at all, given what happens to them if they use that particular soap brand!
Spaced: A Space Australia Post
So I was just going through the tage for the seventh time today when I got inspired to write about humans in space.
Particularly, getting Spaced. Being thrown into the void, either willfully or⌠not so much.
But think about it. Itâs a scifi trope that humans, in times of desperation, will literally space themselves to save someone. Weâve worked on the idea so much, we even have ACTUAL SCIENCE behind it! Humans can survive in space without gear in Low Earth Orbit for about 90 seconds. So long as we exhale just before going out, weâll be completely able to return, with only minor burns from the cold.
What if aliens witnessed that? Theyâd be yelling and shouting and crying because now theyâve lost TWO of their humans ;0;
But wait! Human-Bard is still moving! Heâs using Human-Karinaâs Monility Pack to pilot them both inside! Quick, someone get the Medics!!!
Humans and food
What if in space there were these machines that could create food from nutrients and minerals that are stored in it and aliens would simple be flabbergasted at the foods that the humans eat.
Couj could not believe what these human could come up with to eat. HumanLizzy seemed to like a cooked dairy product between two slices of cooked grain mesh while humanMack seemed to enjoy what could only be described as a not fully cooked slice of meat from a mammal. Humans need to eat cooked food if it came from an animal, it was in the guide to keep a human. He better warn him.
Couj: humanMack donât eat the meat you will feel unwell.
Mack: Why I thought that the machine makes food without the bacteria in it.
Couj: your meat is raw. Human will feel ill if they eat their meat raw.
Mack: oh! Only with certain meats Couj. True some humans prefer their meat fully cooked but some meats can be safely eaten raw like beef. This is a rare steak for example. You should have learned by now that humans can easily digest most things with a little preparation. I shouldnât even tell you about the people who eat pufferfish
Couj: Pufferfish! Isnât that animal highly poisonous!
Mack: thatâs why we have special chefs to prepare it. Even though sometimes people still die. Itâs a delicacy though.
Couj:âŚ
