So, yeah.

“After interviewing some 8,000 people in Atlanta, Emory University professor of psychiatry Dr. Kerry Ressler and his colleagues say that they are seeing evidence of higher rates of PTSD in this urban population than in war veterans.”
“We are seeing the same (high instances of PTSD) in cities like D.C. and Chicago”
“This wide range of trauma experience meant that 32% of this population suffered PTSD symptoms.”

Both parties are not the same. The Koch Brothers are using the Republican party to dismantle every safeguard and throw away lessons the country has earned from the misery of living through hellish times.

How about you compare “Israel children” with “Palestinian children” instead of using terrorist groups like Isis and Hamas? Maybe the reason you don’t do that is because when you take away the 100% blatant bias you get this:
Huh, that’s a real different image, isn’t it? It’s funny how that happens when you don’t use loaded terms in an effort to manipulate the outcome.

I’m laughing because now that Ted Cruz is running for president, his wife (whose health insurance he was covered under) decided to take a leave of absence to help him campaign, causing them both to lose their health insurance. Now they’re forced to sign up for coverage under the Affordable Care Act or become uninsured.
So since Ted Cruz decided to campaign to repeal Obamacare, he can now only get insurance through Obamacare.
And that, my friends, is a true example of irony.
This is glorious
After promising ‘no more government shutdowns’, Republicans are now threatening to deliberately let the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) run out of funds this week due to an impasse over an unrelated issue, President Obama’s executive action on immigration. The threatened Republican action would cause 30,000 immediate DHS layoffs, stretch remaining resources thin, and potentially put the security of the country at risk. .. (story here)
Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens acknowledged evidence that Texas put an innocent man to death for a murder in the 1980s.
Tumblr: I hate PETA.
PETA: Our name literally says "for the ethical treatment of animals"... how can you hate animals?
Tumblr: I don't hate animals! I just think that, despite that name, in practice you often DON'T act in the interests of animals, and are often problematic when you do. I therefore choose not to associate with you, but still care for animals in my own way. You don't have a monopoly on animal ethics.
Anti-feminist: Exactly.
Tumblr: Feminism is literally just supporting equality, how can you not want that? You must hate women.
The difference is that PETA is an organization whereas feminism is an ideology. You can oppose PETA without opposing animal rights just like you can oppose certain groups of feminists without opposing feminism as a whole.
When people refer to, and comment on, Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream Speech” during “The March on Washington,” they never reveal that the title of the event was actually, “The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.” The title is as apropos today as it was in the 1960s, and King was fighting for precisely the same things Republicans are desperate to prevent at all costs; “to put an end to poverty and provide guaranteed income for every citizen regardless of race.” It is why when Republicans dare claim Martin Luther King was a Republican, it is a wonder they don’t gag and choke on one of the filthiest lies to come out of their racist mouths. Many Americans, regardless of race, are completely unaware that King was deeply invested in a “Poor People’s Campaign.” He clearly was cognizant that, like every sociologist on Earth, the income disparity, class, and racial divisions plaguing this racist religious oligarchy will never end until all Americans enjoy economic equality; the one thing no Republican supports and all conservatives work tirelessly to oppose. Their allegiance is to the rich and greater income inequality and they are not timid about admitting it and, they are notorious for using race to perpetuate exactly what MLK fought against; a nation devoted to prosperity for the one-percent. [….] Republicans are adamantly opposed to raising the minimum wage at all and in fact favor abolishing it altogether, and the idea of investing in infrastructure or education is an insult to their conservative oligarchical senses. In fact, just last year a noted and once highly-respected conservative economic expert called on President Obama to propose, and Republicans in the House to immediately pass legislation for at least $1.7 trillion in infrastructure improvements to lift more Americans into the middle class, create millions of jobs, spur economic growth, and slash the number of Americans living in poverty. Obviously, not only did Republicans rail at the suggestion of investing even a penny in America, the conservative economist is no longer highly-respected and is a pariah in Republican circles on the same level as President Obama. During Dr. King’s famed speech at the March on Washington for Freedom and Jobs, he stated, “We refuse to believe there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation.” If he were alive he would likely faint at the amount of money and assets being handed over to the richest one-percent they promptly conceal in “their great vaults” located off-shore to avoid paying taxes. According to poll after survey, most Americans today agree with everything Dr. King championed, and none more-so that Barack Obama who with a small contingent of Democrats are fighting valiantly for the exact same thing Martin Luther King fought for; “an end to poverty and provide opportunity for a guaranteed income for every citizen regardless of race.” Sadly, after 50 years of Republican obstruction, it is a notion that is still just a dream that will never reach fruition.

I don't know if I agree with the "and non more-so than Barack Obama" part, but the sentiment behind this is spot on.

Description: Gifs of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr speaking “Somebody told a lie one day. They couched it in language. They made everything black ugly and evil. Look in your dictionary and see the synonyms for the word black. It’s always something degrading, low and sinister. Look at the word white. It’s always something pure, high, clean. Well, I wanna get the language right tonight.”

Are you black, 007?
I try to avoid revealing as much personal information as possible, so I'm not going to answer that if you don't mind. Regardless of my race, I've been watching right wing bloggers try to use out of context MLK quotes to justify their racist views and I feel like it's important to acknowledge that his politics were radically leftist and first and foremost for black people.

George Zimmerman arrested again on domestic violence charges in Florida
Arizona state superintendent John Huppenthal (R) is upset with one of his school districts over classes that feature artists like Rage Against the Machine and KRS-One.
Lyrics from Rage Against the Machine’s song “Take the Power Back” were included in a class called “Culturally Relevant Mexican American Perspective,” and an essay about KRS-One’s music was used in a class called “Culturally Relevant African-American Perspective.”
Huppenthal says these two classes violate the ban signed into law by Governor Jan Brewer in 2010 on classes that “promote resentment toward any race or class” and “advocate ethnic solidarity instead of being individuals.”
“I am deeply concerned by the fact that the noncompliance appears to extend beyond classes taught from the Mexican American perspective and now also includes classes taught from the African American perspective,” Huppenthal wrote in a letter released on Friday. In the letter, he gave the school district until March to remove the classes and other “culturally relevant” courses or risk losing 10 percent of their funding.
However, supporters have rallied behind the classes, claiming improved graduation rates and test scores. A lawsuit has also been filed in an attempt to overturn the ban on cultural classes.
