You’re going to have a mountaintop experience where you see God and you finally know Him for who He is. But what I think church tends to do is make you feel like you’re supposed to be on fire all the time and you should always feel that. It’s not true. When you suddenly get into that valley, that really dark discouraging place, God is saying, ‘In the valley, remember the mountains. Remember when you were there with me. Remember that time you experienced Me and I was so real to you.’If just that little bit of your mountaintop experience can come into your valley period, that’s what’s going to help you to hold on. That’s what will get you through your very shakeable faith. No one ever told me this in church: but when I read the Bible, I know it’s not supposed to be an everyday rocked-out Christian life. There are days that will be rough, but just those few times in your life: remember how God spoke to you.

This is Bentley and I had the privilege of pet sitting him for a day this week. He’s a golden retriever and as you can tell, he’s an older soul. He has a harder time than most getting around, his eyes are a bit cloudier, and his face has a bit more white than gold, yet all of these things are milestones of a life filled with love. They help illustrate a story of a dog who has spent his life in the company of a family who love him more than the world. I can’t wait to spend more time with this soulful boy in the future!
Why do we raise our arms in worship? Because that’s the same thing my little girl does when she wants daddy to lift her up.”

Russian photographer Fox Grom on his recent walk with his dogs has captured a beautiful series of photos. He discovered a frozen lake covered with rainwater that created the illusion of the dogs walking on water. The end results are stunning, the way the water blends with the sky is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

I hear a lot of people saying, “I don’t feel God anymore.” And there’s a lot of guilt there, like they’re not trying hard enough. But “not-feeling-God” doesn’t make you a bad Christian: just an honest one. And maybe our baseline for “feeling-Him” got messed up with a false foundation. Maybe when Life Got Hard, no one taught you a clear theology on pain. Maybe no one mentioned that seasons of doubt, suffering, and detachment are regular valleys in a believer’s life. Those are also the EXACT times we go to God and tell Him everything. To even say, “I don’t feel you right now, God.” You can tell Him that. Most of us think we’ve failed God when we don’t feel Him, when it’s actually that feeling of His absence that can either push you to Him or from Him. He’d much rather it be to Him.

I always felt unworthy for God to speak to me, so I felt scared to even ask anything of Him. But I know now that God doesn’t speak to the worthy or the unworthy, He speaks to the ones who want to hear His voice.

relationships are a two-way thing.
You wanted love so desperately that you forgot that love is patient, and now you’re broken hearted with a world full of regrets. Have heart, beloved! Christ’s love is patient, and He is not prideful; return to Him, and find that love that you have craved for so long.
