Through the Looking Glass
It was certainly overwhelming at first having to take all sorts of pictures of celebrities and models in their outfits, but Oliver soon felt like he was in his element as he caught candid and professional shots of everyone. He switched memory cards, cameras, and batteries out like a true pro and once everyone was inside, that’s when he was able to take a breath.
He found Alex in the the booth and kissed her cheek, “Sorry if I’m a little sweaty but I couldn’t help but take a few of you when I was down there. You should be down here modeling this gorgeous gown you have on.”
“I like you sweaty.” She snorts, before taking a sip of her Champagne. Leaning against him, she can’t help to giggle. “There are people far more glamorous than I.” Threading her fingers through his, she looks up at him through her long, dark lashes. “You look so handsome when you work. Like you are exactly where you are supposed to be. Sometimes I can’t tell where the camera ends and you begin.”
A commotion happens as Jenee, the most famous actress in the world enters. As she passes the couple, she looks them up and down, before giving them a wink. “I think she thinks you’re cute.” Alex says, smirks at him. “I always thought she was so gorgeous.”
Oliver did catch the moon that the actress had given them both, giving her a returned smirk and nod before kissing Alex on the cheek. “She’s beautiful, but I much prefer you,” he murmured in her ear before very briefly kissing the shell of her ear, “Gorgeous…”
He had a little bit of time before he had to be in their spots, so the both of them schmoozed with the other photographers, designers and a few non-working models who were out and about. Oliver did his best to charm whoever he spoke with but Alex always came up in conversation, gushing over how supportive she’s been of his work.
A week later, they go over the photos in the apartment the magazine renter for them. After the successful shoot, they offer Oliver a three month contract. “What do you think? Do you want to give it a go and live here for a few months?“Biting her lips, she thinks living in another city for a few months could be fun.
Looking out the window, she watches the cars go by. “It is very glamorous, and I think we could seduce a few gorgeous people while we’re here.”
“Live here?? That would be awesome!” Oliver said as he put his glasses down next to his laptop, smiling at his phone screen where he had taken a candid shot of Alex with Peaches and Cream, “We could increase connections as well— see a few Broadway shows, visit all the cool, touristy spots. I’ve always felt like I belonged in the city, which is why I moved to where we were at. Couldn’t get out of the country fast enough.”
“It’s been nice living in LA, but my heart will always belong to New York.” Looking around, she is happy to be back in her grandmother’s apartment. Going over to him, she sits in his lap. “It will be odd to stay still for so long, but I’m happy to do it with you. Who knows? We might end up staying here.” Laying on his shoulder, she closes her eyes, drinking in the scent of his soap. “I know most of the jobs are in Los Angeles right now, but fashion week is coming up.” (I forgot they already live in new york so I retconned it that they live in LA 😂)
“We could even meet up with some… friends if you get what I’m sayin,” Oliver said with wiggly, suggestive eyebrows, “Or new people! It’d be nice to find a couple or two to play some board games with. My mom is obsessed with them and they always made us laugh, make good memories n’all that.”
