So I dont know if I've been severely misinformed or if people on TikTok are just all sheep but the fact that the Major Arcana have become something of a trend has been really pissing me off. It's not because it gained popularity, its because the people participating are people who dont read or understand tarot. I'll go into the comment section under one of the videos and every single comment will be "idk how to read the chart can someone tell me what Arcana I am 🥺🙈🫶" and then theres a picture of some website with a bunch of circles and lines all interconnected. See, personally, I was always under the impression that your signifier card was supposed to be presented to you by a force outside of yourself because it is the card that most reflects who you are internally and how your deck chooses to portray you. That's why it's so confusing to me that people apparently are taking a test to figure out what their signifier is?? Also they keep saying "my arcana" which is a term I had never heard before it started trending. I'm not expert but I've been dabbling in tarot for give or take a year now and I found my signifier card through a small spiritual/art business booth at a farmer's market in Homer, Alaska, because I was able to connect it to a symbol that's always been deeply personal and that I've used to reflect and represent my own self since childhood. If anyone who sees this knows more about Tarot or about this specific trend than I do lmk if I'm missing any details because I genuinely really hate people like the one's I've seen on TikTok that act like that and I dont want that hate to be misguided.

I've been seeing a lot of crossover online between PHM and TMA and it got me thinking about which fear Grace would most likely be an avatar for. For the most part, I've seen people say The Vast for obvious reasons but I fundamentally disagree. The movie itself is insanely Vast coded and space is one of it's major sources of terror, but I dont think it applies to Grace in the same way it applies to the setting of the movie itself. I believe Grace would be End aligned, or even Hunt, but not Vast. This is because he has no distinct fear of space that we can see particularly outside of the natural human reaction to it and he doesnt have any real personal connection prior to the project either. As a microbiologist, his focus was never space itself but rather the effects of events that took place in space. The vastness of space was never something that personally touched him, only influenced his situation. The End, on the other hand, is clearly present in his personality, actions, choices, and feelings. This is what would cause someone to fall into a fear so heavily that they absorb it and become an avatar, not simply its presence in a situation. Grace's fear isn't centered around severance from his life or Earth itself. It's centered around the end of that life. The reason he turns down Stratt's request, his personal dilemma about bravery, all of it has to do entirely with his fear of his death. Though the situation he is presented leans heavily toward the Vast and the Extinction, the part of it that most affected Grace down to the alteration of who he believes himself to be is the fear of the End, and that is what makes an avatar.
