Sometimes I like to go bird-watching in my own spare time... Sometimes
So I accidentally treaded along the intermediate slope when I was supposed to be on the easy trail... (at China Peak)
Salt creek beach into the sunset
Inspired by jRPG graphics and cinematics, I've decided to stage my fantasy like travels #grass #trail #fantasy #walking #crystalcove #Newport #California #orangecounty #morning #Sunday #hike #Laguna #hill
And morreeeeeeee ning #morning #Sunday #hike #bommertrail #sky #orangecounty #California #photography #mist #Irvine #Newport #walking #7am
did a color temperature study of the color balance in this photo...then becomes another body of image after bringing out the field and sky.
P.S. i spy a bird
working with this overcast weather is like one of the best things to have when taking photographs because you don’t have to tweak that much color to balance it...but it’s still too yellow on the lower half of it. i was just more interested in the clouds that form in the sky we always look up to
I sought to have this kind of spontaneous vision - you know, like those moments when you see a photo you took and you’re all like “oh i have an idea, or i could see this going somewhere” and get to work right away
no need to label out my days again now that my February project is done haha. took a hike in the Irvine Regional Park and found some nice views at the top of the hill
Day 29 (2/29/2016) - huh...seems like i slept into the next day - however, this still counts as Day 29 for as long as i get to claim it as this 29th day on February that only happens every four years due to leap year.
Last words for this project “Hyperhuman vs. Time” (2016) hmm...it’s been a mentally exhausting work, having to cram 12 months of concentration into 1 month. It was fun, being on a race against time and also getting back to into the labor mode of producing new kinds of works. I feel like I did get to improve on some parts of the editing within the labor i committed to myself and not assigned by school works. Also, that just goes out to say that anyone can govern by their own rules when it comes to developing their works and themselves because in the end, it is mankind that governs their own lives.
I took this photo at a hiking trail and finally got to getting what i wanted to do - creating this video game feeling where the process of traveling is part of the aesthetics in a role-playing game. this work was also influenced by the cinematic in the final fantasy series and Lord of the Rings triology.
Day 28 (2/28/2016) - almost done with this project! took another trail at Turtle Rock and stumbled upon this nice pathway with the trees and grasses. this work was inspired by the color choices from final fantasy 7 and valkyrie chronicles: Silmeria.
Day 27 (2/27/2016) - while getting lost and hiking it seems like my instincts took over and didn’t hesitate to take the risk to maintain this posture while climbing...
Day 27 (2/27/2016) - I took a hike this morning with my friend and caught my interest on the way the tree looks with a view from the ground. then i started to patch up the image together and got inspired by this mythical tree called Yggdrasill.
Day 24 (2/24/2016) - a bit of experimentation with inverting and tweaking colors for analyzing the thermal colors in the architecture of the bridge and surroundings
Day 24 (2/24/2016) - "Every photograph is a certificate of presence." --Roland Barthes, Camera Lucida[1]
Here we will go into the analysis of what it means to have a presence in photographs. Presence is defined as the state of existing, occurring, or being present in a place or thing. Throughout the history of photography, many people behind the lenses have used cameras for the sole purpose of capturing evidence, documentation of the present time, to freeze the moment that will be gone in an instant. Thus said, the photograph acts as the marker of the presence - the presence that is evoked in the photograph as well as the presence of the absence; for example, most of the cropped photographs will always leave out something; in which that something is always the photographer that takes the shot. Looking at the shadows displayed in the photo, one can speculate that the figure shown there could be a random stranger or the photographer that took the shot. In the end, no one will ever know, which leads to my next photo series of creating a simulacrum.
Day 22 (2/22/2016) - on a fine spontaneous sunday afternoon, I decided to take a photoshoot down over by the santa ana river. the lighting turned out pretty well since it was set at the golden hour time period before the sun started to set. I was more interested in working with space and manipulating the angle to disorient the subject matter and surroundings.
