Regional Comedians Unite to Support the ACLU at What a Joke Festival - The Knoxville Mercury

When faced by the imminent collapse of civil society as we know it (or at least the federal bureaucracy), laughter may not be the first response most people think of—but ...

Hey, look! Our own Shane Rhyne was featured in a Knoxville Mercury Q&A today about the just-announced What a Joke National Comedy Festival.

Knoxville will host two nights of stand-up comedy featuring 40 comics from five states at venues around town. Proceeds from the Knoxville shows (and the shows taking place simultaneously in 28 other cities) will benefit the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

We’ll have information about the festival on this website and our festival-only site at whatajokeknox.com.

Advance tickets go on sale on Friday, December 16 at whatajokeknox.bpt.me.

We’ll have a pair of hilarious Atlanta comedians, Brian Emond and Fray Forde, along with Knoxville comics Liz Brooks and Bryce Houseal. Our host this month is Tyler Sonnichsen.
