Woody nodded along to the womanâs explanation, then turned to the girl, and nodded to her, too.Â
The move here would be to diffuse the situation that would result in both parties walking away feeling better than they had coming into it. The question was how he was supposed to do that when they were standing on opposite sides of the argument.Â
âWell someone could have come by!â the woman argued as Woody watched them, knowing he needed to put an end to this before someone struck a nerve. âOr a biker! You could have blinded them and they could have fallen off to hit their head!âÂ
She then turned to Woody, who placed an expression on his face that said she had his undivided attention, âWhat do you plan to do about this?â
And wasnât that the question. âI understand your concerns, maâam, Iâll take care of everything. Donât worry,â he smiled and then nodded his head in the direction she had been walking, âHow about you get inside and try to dry off? You donât want to stay out here in the cold, risk getting sick.âÂ
The woman smiled at Woody, then turned to glare at the girl, before she brushed passed her, pulling the coat she had on tighter around her collar. Woody watched her go, waving when she glanced back over her shoulder.Â
âWell,â he sighed, his shoulders dropping as he turned back to the girl. He held a stern expression, âwhatâd you think? Make you listen to classical music from now on or just go full Footloose with this?âÂ
Irma almost wanted to knock the snow from the tree over them onto the woman out of spite. She was being ridiculous, and if she hadnât called over the cop, Irma would have just walked away by now and ignored her. But no, she had to stay and be polite.
The woman glared at her as she left, and Irma just gave her a wintery little smile. âGood riddance, hope to never see you again.â Instead of making a small snow drift for the woman to trip on, Irma turned to face the officer, waiting for her punishment. She was expecting like community service or some sort of âBeing a Responsible Magickâ seminar or some shit; instead, he made a joke that would have made her papi proud. She blinked owlishly at him, taking a moment to process, before she gave him a small smile.
âI dunno, classical music had plenty of bangers,â she said with a shrug. âMay have to resort to Midwest Logic and ban music all together.â
