“This is the first collaborative artwork that started it all. On Febraury 3, 2021, just two days after the coup in Myanmar, a group of 11 artists led by Ae Chan Aung created this sea of three fingers live on Facebook.”

The three-finger salute has become the symbol of resistance and protest. Across the “milk-tea nations”, the gesture represents solidarity for democracy, defiance against tyranny, and the fight for freedom.

Raise Three Fingers is a campaign hub founded by creatives in Myanmar to highlight the unfolding human rights and humanitarian crises caused by the military coup on February 1, 2021.
