you know i do feel both sort of unsettled by like how much interviews factor into fan engagement with iwtv and tvl and like i have also been going down these rabbit holes but it also does sort of feel like unlike other works where say outside interviews may go directly contrary to common interpretation and be disregarded or ignored or understanding the gap of intention and interpretation and value of your own readings etc whats also so fucking odd with iwtv/tvl is the ways the behind the scenes info is sort of the intended manner of fan engagement i obviously dont follow a huge swath of modern tv especially in a fandom way so this is both a different beast from like decades later mythologizing of the star trek history ive looked at yet also kind of distinct from say people extrapolating wildly from a single convention panel answer type of like fans working themselves up over that characterized often combative and fraught feelings towards writers developing in internet fandom coupled with the explosion of convention coverage and so forth really bringing this moment to moment connection out there but like anyways i truly cannot think of another show ive ever watched that literally episode ends and it cuts to the creative team telling you the point of the episode and their thought process thats like super fucking weird its weird this has been their marketing and fan engagement angle the whole time like in some ways this type of fans poring over interviews kind of feels like the intended mode of engagement which like thats really strange its placed within the text its telling you how to feel about the episode within the episode this feels like in engagement with the presentation modes of like daniel interrupting louis and stating the themes in the first two seasons and lestat talking like hes arguing with someone calling him problematic on twitter in tvl like its fucking weird and i think both creates these huge gaps of dissonance when u know normal things happen where creatives offer different interpretations discuss their thoughts and feelings and creates i think a greater gap like what do you do with a text that used to be like actively fucking advertising a suicide helpline and domestic violence trigger warnings before the show and discuss how they are taking these themes seriously as in believing these have material impact on the world and turn around and idk racistly victim blame louis and describe how he should be punished it like compounds how bad the existing shit on screen is and frankly makes it hard to know what on earth to make of previous seasons or what a person is to do with this you know

GOD i love the like entire final part of no pain so much like how u can literally feel louis and claudia walking into the jaws of death the insane cross cutting between louis thinking armands gonna kill him and claudia taking her coven oaths knowing and fearing how she has already broken them so severely... the dawning horror she will be cast forever as a child as armand tries to justify and lie to louis that she is forever lost due to being turned as a child........the hypocrisy of armand saying that.. the way the manhole cover again evokes claudias death the fire the implicit threats the whole way there and like the mirroring of the threat laden seduction of lestat in the beginning of the episode and his similar overtures to louis... armand cast as like the vampires vampire literally asking if he can be invited in and louis letting death into his house the crazy power play the way they block out all the light leaving them alone in shadow when they kiss.... insnae insane insane
