Hello. I am Rai. She/her. I primarily do mesh edits, decluttering, and clutter seperation at this point. Maybe one day I will do more. However, right now, I'm enjoying doing basic mesh edits more than is probably healthy.
I have officially survived the first of my two hour long dentist appointments. Honestly, the fact that half my face is still numb/tingly several hours later is probably worse than the actual sitting in the chair bit. Eating ice cream while you can't feel half your face is not particularly dignified. Neither is drinking from a water bottle. (Don't ask me how I ended up with ice cream on my shoulder because I don't know.)
Anyhow, since I'm planing on getting myself a new Sims pack next time there's a sale as A Little Treat for enduring all this dental stuff, I wanted to ask if anybody had any recommendations or things they especially wanted to see me pry apart.
Right now, the most likely candidate is Fairies but if enough people jump on the Adventure Awaits or Businesses & Hobbies bandwagons instead.
Tables/surfaces are either the delight of my mesh editing life or it's bane. I have not decided. The answer will likely be different every other day.
So, since it looks like that crank is there to extend that metal part of the table to extend the workspace, in the versions I removed the handle from, I gave the table a solid wood top. Then, because I can't stop myself, I made a version with the surface extended. (and I rotated the crank handle on the those versions for added realism or something like that.)
I also closed the drawers.
And removed the drawers.
Aaaaand there's a few more things that I haven't talked myself out of.
("You could just not make the thing, Rai. You know that right?" ha ha ha, yeah no. I cannot not. I must at least try.)
Every time I think I've figured out how to get this game semi-reliably generating thumbnails again, it just decides "ok 🙃🙃🙃🙃 but what 🙃🙃🙃🙃 if I 🙃🙃🙃 just 🙃🙃 didn't"
@lumenniveus Starlet Boulevard Update and MORE Add Ons
First things first, I have fixed all the floating vanity edits so that they no longer hover an inch off the ground. When you unzip the folder, there'll be a folder called 'UPDATED_Aug-6-2026.' This has all the updated objects in it. Replace the old files with these new ones please and thank you.
Original post: here
Updated Vanity edits zip files
With knobs versions: simsfileshare
sans knobs versions: simsfileshare
You will also find a second folder inside those folders. Those are the new nightstands that I couldn't resist making.
They all have a version that's the original width of the desk and a narrower version. And I mirrored them.
Also, some wall shelves that I was also unable to resist making. (I managed to talk myself from four to sixteen and then back down to six)
Three widths and two depths
Zip folder: simsfilershare
In other news, there are two objects from the Restoration Workshop kit that I'm pretty sure are finished.
Okay, so........ yesterday/today I was going to bed at stupid o'clock in the morning and had a sudden flash of insanity inspiration and there are going to going to be three more nightstands made out of that Vanity from @lumenniveus Starlet Boulevard set. (and by three, I mean twenty-four because there are eight versions of all of them)
HOWEVER.............
About two-thirds of the way through, I discovered that they're floating....... which means that ALL of the V2 edits from the vanity are floating.
oops
So..... yeah....... I will be fixing that tomorrow/today and updating the files. And possibly throwing the new nightstands in there with them instead of in a new folder like I originally planned.
Ya' know, sometimes, I type a little too fast and instead of typing "mesh edit" I end up typing "mesh die". I find the fact that this specific typo happens so frequently mildly hilarious.
(I like my star logo thing but I think I'm gonna have to use one with less points.)
So, I was attempting to organize my CC folders and objects and rediscovered one of the very first edits that I did. I took the big knob off the nightstand because I didn't like very much. So, I decided that I might as well do It for the rest of the items with the big knobs so that they can match.
That was the plan! That was all I was going to do, I swear! However, as we all know, no plan survives being poked in blender contacted with the me I am my own enemy. I thought this project would take, like, an hour, tops. Yet here we are, a week later, with something like 80 objects; which is significantly more then the originally planned five.
Now, a large part of the reason there's so very many objects is because there are knobs and sansKnobs versions of everything. So, there's at least two versions of literally everything.
Now, in the linked folder, the five single packages are the five original objects with just the knobs removed. After that, I did my usual thing where I separate into zip folders based on the original object I used as a base for my editing. However, in addition to that, I also separated the sansKnobs objects into their own folders.
Links!
@lumenniveus original Starlet Boulevard post: here (check it out. I'm not done with this set yet I just refused to expand my scope beyond these five knobby objects for this project. There's still a bed to separate and I have Plans for that coffee table but there's another project on my to-do list first)

Pics of all the edits and babble under the cut.
The Desk
The single tile desk, unfortunately, isn't actually single tile but I couldn't make it any narrower without squishing the drawers and I didn't want to. (I now just started thinking of making a desk that's just the regular legs on both sides. Hmm. This set already has a dining table doesn't it? What's that look like? Okay, I'll just make a single tile version of that when I get around to it)
When I pulled off the legs to start working on the nightstands I kinda liked it, and ended up making a version of the desk without them. Four versions of each nightstand, one the full depth of the original desk and one narrower. Plus the knobs and sansKnobs versions. (I almost went and doubled the number of desks by making versions with the squared off drawers but managed to restrain myself.) (I am currently being tempted with the idea of going back an making mirrored versions of everything. No, bad Rai. Not everything asymmetrical needs to be mirrored.) These desks were the original items The Bees didn't want to generate thumbnail images for.
The Vanity
Desk and nightstand. Making a single tile version of this desk wouldn't've worked very well, methinks. Not without hacking the drawer/door/whatever-it-is off the one side and I didn't want to. It's would've been basically the same thing but just a teeny tiny bit narrower.
We're actually going to come back to this guy later.
The Wardrobe
I was like, "Ah, there's no way that I'm going to be pulling this one apart too much" and was very wrong about that.
Versions of the full wardrobe without the drawer at the bottom and then some dressers. The wardrobes should, theoretically, open like the one in the original set. I wanted to do a version combining the two dresser types but the top's corners are sharp and the bottom's corners are rounded and I wasn't a fan.
Also, nightstands/end tables again. Again, versions that are the original depth of the original object and also narrower versions.
In all honesty, this was the original end of the project. Then, while I was doing the thumbnails, things........ well...... Thing Happened. What else is new.
The Nightstand
I originally didn't have any ideas for editing the nightstand but then these guys just Happened. (The idea for the short one came while I was restraining myself from making a coffee table out of the dresser) There were originally versions of all of them with little stubby legs but I actually managed to get myself to cut something
The Hallway Table
Same as above, these weren't in the plan but just kinda Happened. (they do not need a multi drawer version they do not need a multi-drawer version THEY DON'T NEED A MULTI-DRAWER VERSION) (*heavy sigh* they might get a multi-drawer version in the future)
And last but not least we return to The Vanity (where Rai went a little bit bonkers)
A second version of the desk and vanity with a second set of drawers/doors/whatever-they-ares. Plus matching nightstand. (This nightstand was the other thing that had me screaming at The Bees)
Then, I was just walking into the bathroom when I was suddenly stuck by the thought "Mirror Dresser" and it Had To Be Done. This was a bit of a pain in the ass because just stretching the sides wouldn't work but I'm not displeased with how it turned out. These are (should be, theoretically) functional as dressers/mirror-dressers.
And I just realized that there's several items I forgot to take screenshots of. I'll be back in a jiffy.
Extra wardrobe, tv stand, and tv cabinet. (I'm kinda stupidly proud of how that tv cabinet turned out considering it absolutely was not what I was originally trying to do.)
Then we get to this little extra part which is very much "I really didn't have to but I did"
I went and made sansLights versions of everything with the mirror. Because Reasons.
I made a half-hearted attempt at making a little table mirror out of the mirror but it wasn't turning out great so I threw it out. Maybe I'll come back to it when I come back to the pack.
Edit and Update:
the vanity edits that were previously floating are now firmly on the ground. I have also added more nightstands and some wall shelves.

My next big project is going to be giving the Restoration Workshop Kit the Blooming rooms treatment. So, stay tuned for that. I don't know how long it'll take. I might release it in parts instead of everything all at once.
It only took ONE extra attempt to make the thumbnails generate this time.
The bees were kind today and thus y'all should have another @lumenniveus add on set by the end of today and I'll tell y'all about how the project I thought would be an hour, tops, ended up taking a week. (it was not just it's me I am also the bees)
This game is held together by silly string and bees.
The fact that this "the game is randomly deciding not to generate thumbnails for an random amount of time before randomly working again with no clear reason" thing keeps happening is starting to become supremely vexing.
This is now the third time it's happened now. This time it was even more annoying because 1: the clear all the thumbnails and try again strategy didn't work (and I tried, like, five times) and 2: ten minutes ago, this object had had a full set of thumbnails but I had to fix something in the mesh, so, I cleared them to make new ones. But the new ones never generated.
I left them in the mods folder and kept trying to make it generate thumbnails whenever I loaded the game up to test a new object I was editing, which it also wasn't generating a thumbnail for. Until, suddenly, two tests later, lo and behold, THUMBNAILS WORK AGAIN.
This is going to drive me bonkers.
Silly string and bees, I'm telling you. Silly string and beeeeeeeeeeees.
Okay, so, what, apparently, happened with the thumbnails was that Studio went and saved some kind of blank custom thumbnail of some kind for a thumbnail image which prevented it from saving a game generated thumbnail there. However, this blank thumbnail 1: didn't seem to exist in game since the theoretical proper thumbnail was showing up in the catalog and 2: didn't registrar as an asset to be exported with the export all command.
I learned this by going, "Huh what if" and manually clearing all the thumbnail images before loading up the game again (because deleting the localthumbcache didn't work).
Silly string and bees, I'm telling you. Silly string and beeeeeeeeeees.
Okay, so, apparently, it wasn't that the game didn't want to generate thumbnails at all. It just doesn't want to for this specific set of desks. . . for some reason.
And, at that, it DID generate all the thumbnails for ONE of the desks as well as a handful of random swatches in the others.
Okay, so, generating thumbnails works again today. For some reason. Like, I have absolutely no idea what could've possibly changed between yesterday. I didn't even shut down or reboot my laptop last night. I didn't even shut down the EA app. Studio has been open and closed several times since then but shutting down and restarting Studio didn't fix it while I was actively trying to fix it last night.
So. . . . . ??????
This game is held together by silly string and bees.
Yeah, so, my game is no longer generating thumbnails for some reason. This displeases me for two major reasons.
1: the export all command only works if all the swatches have thumbnails and without it I have to export all the textures one by one in order to edit them
2: I can't add my little 'logo+' icons to the thumbnails if the game won't give me any thumbnails! I like my little 'logo+' icons! They make me feel fancy and professional-like.
Since, next month, I'm going to have to sit through two hour long dentist appointments and spend a long weekend as The Sole Provider of Dog Care, I think I'm going to get myself the Faeries expansion pack next time it's on sale even if it's not the 50% off I was going to wait for (especially since I completely think it should've been a game pack like, literally, ALL of the other occult centric packs) (Businesses and Hobbies as fallen into my preferred range of being 50% off during sales but I'm not as interested in the gameplay of it. Or the objects. It's not as much of a hard pass as Lovestruck or Royal Legacy but interest is still pretty low there.)
Because I think I should get a little treat after sitting though two hour long dentist appointments and spending a long weekend as The Sole Provider of Dog Care.
Maybe a stuff pack too. Home Chef, Moschino, or Fitness are possibilities.
Anything you guys are interested in seeing me possibly pull apart? I actually have a more complete collection of stuff packs than I thought I did. Possibly because we haven't gotten a new one in, like, two years. Or a new game pack since Werewolves (though we have gotten several expansion packs that feel like they should be game packs (which is a small/large part of the reason I refuse to buy anything full price.)) Just so. so. so. many. kits (which I'm not buying because they're never on sale). I might break down an buy the Industrial Loft Kit, though because it's the only kit I'm remotely interested in that I haven't found a good bgc conversion of of the whole two hour long dentist appointments and long weekend as The Sole Provider of Dog Care thing.
So, APPARENTLY, the Country Kitchen Kit straight up isn't a kit anymore. Or, at the bare minimum, the free version I got from EA's new stupid store isn't. I wanted to try out little edit. The filter in Studio is empty. I remember I got it from the stupid store and decide to look for it on the stupid app / see if it's considered in my library. I couldn't even find it. It no longer seems to exist on the app's store.
@siwicart's [EP20]Kitchen Boxes but even more separated! They also have slots on top and I did the thing where I take to very similar/identical objects from one of these and edit it so that one item has all the swatches for both
