tw: depression mention
kiran was born in moorbrooke to young but extremely loving parents. itâs not that they were exactly prepared for kiranâs arrival â in fact, the discovery of the pregnancy took them both by surprise â but even as freshmen in college, they vowed to always give kiran the life that he deserved while continuing to work on their own lives.
because kiranâs parents were both still completing their college education, much of kiranâs childhood was spent with various grandparents and family members. some might consider this chaotic, but kiran remembers mostly the warmth of being surrounded by a community of people who loved him. the older he got, the more he came to understand and appreciate the sacrifices his parents made in spending less time with him when he was younger in order to further their lives. heâs more than proud of the work that his parents put into their respective careers, and his academic dedications are mostly inspired by them. he maintains an extremely close relationship with both.
from a young age, kiran was almost too curious for his own good. at conferences, teachers regularly reported to his proud-but-tired parents that he seemed bored, because he was too advanced for the classes he was taking. the decision was made to place him in homeschooling so that he could advance at his own comfort and pace: a decision that kiran credits with giving him the independence to learn and study whatever he wanted, as well as to graduate high school early at sixteen.
after graduation, he entered college at the university and decided to study graphic design. while his nontraditional schooling had allowed him to pursue in depth many of the normal academic disciplines, he was very interested in learning more computer skills, which is how graphic design attracted him. after graduating with flying colors, he took an internship in new york city and spent about three years there before moving back to moorbrooke at the age of 24.Â
( tw: depression ) many people wouldnât know this, but his move back home wasnât entirely motivated by missing his parents and general homesickness. after moving away at such a young age, the work he was doing was coming easy to him, but the being on his own was more difficult than he could have anticipated. after a lengthy struggle with isolation and depression, he made the decision to move back to moorbrooke, with the full support of his family. he did remote graphic design work for a while, but found that being hunched over a computer most of the time wasnât exactly great for his posture, or his depression. so he made the decision to go back to university and study something new. ( end tw )
in the end, kiran decided to study something entirely new to him, and ended up earning a masters degree in library sciences. it gave him the advantage of still working with information technology that he was familiar with, but with an added component of personal interaction that he had been missing. working in the wolfeton library, as heâs been doing for the past few years, has made him the happiest that heâs been in his adult life. he still does graphic design on the side, as he still has a passion for it.Â
