Coveting the shape of the dream
So rudely interrupted. The stars, like
Veils of midnight hung, constellations strung
Like diamonds; the night; the night. But
The moon is fading to morning light. Oh,
But give me the dream once more...

Coveting the shape of the dream
So rudely interrupted. The stars, like
Veils of midnight hung, constellations strung
Like diamonds; the night; the night. But
The moon is fading to morning light. Oh,
But give me the dream once more...
You can call it love if you want;
I won't be here to protest.
You can go out for the night if you like;
I'll be gone before you notice.
You can blow up my phone if you want;
I changed my number before I left,
And if you check your inbox,
I've left for you a gift.
A list of all my grievances
And all the people I cc'ed;
A photo of you all
On the day I decided to leave.
You can tell them that you loved me
And you don't know the reason why
But they will all have seen the photo;
They will all know that you lied.
I want to be
So strange, so strange, so strange, so
Terrible and wonderful that they cannot bear
To see, to impose their view
Upon me.
I steal your mouse without remorse;
There are feathers all over the bathroom floor.
Where is the bird? What have you done,
You horrid little thing that loves to hunt?
Stop bringing them in, stop playing around;
Leave them outside where they were found.
Your idols are rusting.
They cannot.
We cast them from gold.
Fool's gold. See now
The red that stains their hands?
"And in this story, do we live?"
"Oh, certainly. The real question is—
Gasping for breath. Oh, thank fuck. I thought I was a goner.
A weak smile. So did I.
—Do we die?"
Loved like a favourite pencil;
Pieces shaved off until
You're not enough
To hold and then
Left behind
In a crack
Some
Place
.
Twists and churns and yearns and yearns-
Titans walked, once. Primordial
They crawled upright and lay waste. Now
The red dawns scream again. The core
Is in meltdown. Now
They come.
"Are we... Alive?"
"I hope so! [Person] owes me money!"
"Is money all you think about."
"Money makes the world go round!"
"I'm pretty sure that's gravity."
"Gravity is for lesser mortals. I am above such petty indignities."
"Did you hit your head."
"Yes!"
"I'm going to launch him into the sun."
"With what rocket? Just calm down, would you? I'm sure he had a good reason..."
"Guys? Are you seeing this?"
"I'll build a fucking rocket and I'll send him to fucking Uranus, just you fucking watch."
"Holy fuck, look at it..."
"Uranus."
"Fuck you."
"Guys?"
"Listen, I promise-"
"No, you listen to me-"
"GUYS!"
"What?!"
And I need you to know that it's okay
If all you manage is today.
Tell my brother that I'm sorry for all the things I couldn't say;
That I kept on going going when I should have walked away,
Because I know that if I'd listened then I'd still be here today
And he wouldn't have to wait there standing on the quay
Wondering what he could have done, why he he couldn't make me stay...
But I couldn't stay, I'm sorry; I needed something more
Than to look out at the sea from the same old rocky shore.
I needed to find a pair of wings and soar up in the sky,
But now I am an Icarus, one who flew too high...
.
Can you tell him that I'm sorry? That I'm full of regret
For trying to chain down a wanderer's get?
For never having time, or trying to listen
When he told me how the horizon glistened?
Oh, sea, you drowned him, when he fell from the sky,
And you swallow up the tears that I now must cry-
Pay me back; pay him! Now listen, you who makes the horizon glisten,
He always yearned for something more
Than to gaze from this old rocky shore
So now you'll take him everywhere
Your currents flow, year by year;
You'll take his soul wherever it pleases
Until my face is full of creases
And I go to meet him, face to face-
Oh, I'm loathe to leave this place-
And we'll say goodbye
And hello
And our tales we'll tell...
But for now, dear brother: I'm sorry. Fare well.
"Why would you give infinite power to some random twelve year old?! We don't even know where they are!"
"Would you rather I gave random powers to infinite twelve year olds?"
"No?! What is wrong with you."
"Well, I am a mad scientist. I don't know what you expected."
"... Mad scientist? I ordered an ethical one!"
"No you didn't. It says right here- oh."
"... Oh?"
"It. Would appear. That I have the wrong house."
Love them mad and sensible, or love them not at all; love them in stark morning light and love them at the ball. Love them when they feel like giants and whenever they feel small; love them when they oppose you and be glad they have the gall. Love them when you rise above-
And love them when you fall. Love them mad and sensible, or love them not at all.
Is it everything that you dreamt it would be, with all the stars of history
Falling at your feet?
I've made a resolution in my sleep; it's one that I intend to keep, that when they rove the rolling deep
They'll find no trace of me.
I awoke last night to the sound of thunder- it's no wonder, then, that I fell to Hunger; come! Beat your heart against the cage and learn again to feel the rage; take up your sword to fight once more, once more fall to aid their cause. Come! The darkness is upon the land, each eye bright as a burning brand, for hope, for hope! We ride once more, to batter down the devil's door.
And then we rest and rest again, until once more again they send
Warning smoke up to sky; come down once more, oh warrior high!
(You'd think that after all these years that I'd have no more tears to shed, but evil never goes to bed and it seems they never learn.)
