College Tip #1
Take advantage of your school's career center!
They will be able to give you great advice and hints on writing your resume, a second set of eyes to proofread will be your best friend. One of the biggest things that I have learned, is that if you have one error in your resume you are almost guaranteed to loose any chance of being considered.
They often also will be able to help you with getting better at interviews, I know I get nervous when it comes to these. Often you can go in and they will run through a mock interview with you and give you tips and pointers as you go.
Cereal. The best breakfast food to ever exist.
About me...
I decided when I started this blog that I would want to create this post, so that way you as the reader could get to know me and would know a bit of my background...so here it is.
I currently am in my final semester of my undergraduate degree, this coming May I will officially graduate with a Bachelors in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology from the University of North Dakota (Yes this means I do live in a bit of a cold waste land).
Because this is my last semester I thought it could be interesting to write a blog and share my coming experiences with you all and to see what happens after.
I am 23 years old, and this will be my 6th year in college, yes 6th. I started out at a community college, back where I grew up and got my Associates in Arts degree; before I transferred to UND.
Besides attending college I do have a part-time job at a pet store, which is how I pay for bills and other living expenses. When I am not in school or working I love to read, write, and draw. As well as game a bit on Guild Wars 2, and playing Magic. Besides this I do enjoy hiking and being outside.
In all honesty my passion in life is the outdoors and everything that the natural world contains and supports, which is why I wanted to go into Wildlife Biology. I'm hoping to be able to help preserve what we still have for its own sake and right of existence, and hopefully in that time everyone can learn to appreciate it.
Recent MIA
I want to acknowledge that I know there has been a definite lack of posting on here from me. And I want to set the record straight that this will change. Work and other school things have taken my attention recently, but that doesn't excuse my absence. So expect an about me post tonight and a goal of at least one post a week
A few photos from this past weekend. I visited my boyfriend in Montana over this longer weekend, and we got to go hiking. (All of this is in his backyard mind you)
Remember to enjoy the wonders of nature, while you study hard, it'll help you keep your sanity.
It's always a wonderful morning when you wake up with a migraine.
But more wonderful news is that I have officially completed my last first two days of undergraduate!
I knew this when I bought this 2 subject notebook. But does anyone else find it odd that the 100 pages aren't divided up evenly, but instead are more of a 70/30 ratio?
A pretty layout and more info about myself to come! I promise!
A New Blog
I never know what to write for an opening statement, for anything it usually takes some time and thought, but for the sake of this blog I want to try and make all my posts be as unfiltered and honest as possible. So no major editing or long thought processes of how things should be written. Just real simple posts about my experiences, as well as any life tips, or hacks as they are now called, I may stumble upon and could benefit you.
Other than this post, most will likely be more to the point and simple, but for my opening post I figured I would iterate what you can find in this blog and hopefully help you decide if following my blog will be worth your time or not. I am on my final semester of my undergraduate degree and decided while walking to school today that I wanted to try and document some of things that I experience and come across this final semester, as well as what happens afterwards. So insert decision to create a new tumblr blog, and one that isn't solely for the purpose of re-posting fun things found on other people's blogs that I want to keep.
So stay tuned for what is to come and hopefully I can help anyone else out there that is on the last leg of their current school career as well.
