White bean ragout and toast
Boardwalk Five
Clocked five in 41:30 on the Atlantic City boardwalk. I've also realized my sneakers are shot. Ouch.
Run itself felt fluid and relaxed. I'll feel even better once I'm not clutching my phone for dear life.
I just picked up one of these babies refurbished on eBay for $159 to replace the 405 I've misplaced. Looking forward to the heart rate monitor!
Oversleeping means I need to run tonight. Legs feel good after yesterday's run, but the rest of me feels fatigued.
One thing I've learned is to listen to my body. I pushed hard last summer and injured myself so I'm okay babying myself a bit here at the outset of training.
5 Miles
Started training for my third marathon. Expect lots of training and diet updates here. Had to build accountability into the plan somewhere, you know?
Time: 42:50
Loved Stereogum's take. I've been listening nonstop. Bought vinyl yesterday!

Me as Matt Fraction's Hawkeye at my son's superhero birthday party.
In an eerie new video from Low, the band plays inside a glitter-filled snow globe, wearing period costumes, while giant, alien creatures look on.
Watch the “Plastic Cup” video now.
Love this band, but who doesn't?

How many times can one reboot a Tumblr? I'm trying to find out.
Bryce Harper as a member of Kiss
By MIke Jackson aka alrightmike
(h/t CBS Eye on Baseball)
Well, I really hope Harper takes some inspiration. Although, I’d much prefer it if he decided to go with a Misfits homage.
More like corpsepaint, no? #blackmetalbryce
Be bold. Mix patterns.
Jacket: Custom made in Hungary, thrifted $3
Shirt: Lands’ End tailored fit, $12
Tie: Ermenegildo Zegna wool blend, thrifted $4.50
Love it. High risk, high reward when you go all out. Looks great!

Pulling off a DB?
I’m putting myself into a challenge I have no business trying to be a part of. Nice Try, Bro has repeatedly espoused his hatred for the double-breasted jacket. He claims theylook bad 99% of the time. In response, #menswear heavy-hitters Ethan Desu and Phat Guido have defended the DB and demonstrated it looking good in action. NTB’s response to PG was that he’s the ‘Nick Wooster of the East,’ so not a good representation of how most men are wearing a DB. ED responded that he is no Nick Wooster, but will still wear the DB.
Now, I’m no Nick Wooster, or PG or ED. But, I’ll also still rock the DB.
This gray flannel DB suit is an Oxxford I got off eBay for $90. I’ve had it tailored to shorten and taper the legs, as well as letting out the waist of the pants. I also had the waist of the jacket taken in a bit. The jacket fits really well in the shoulders and has minimal padding.
Part of the reason I like the DB is because men my age aren’t wearing them. I consider it a greater challenge to try and look good and appropriate in one. The outfit I’ve put together here is what I wore to my wife’s grandmother’s 90th birthday (although with a white linen rather than pink silk pocket square). I thought it was appropriately conservative for the occasion, while still looking young enough to be appropriate for a man in his 30s.
Who knows, maybe others will consider this a massive fail, but I think I’m doing okay for a guy only in the game for a year.
Have a soft spot for the DB myself, mostly because first two suits I owned were. That said, I don't like how they look at all on me.
