I believe it is up to you to decide if you will be a man accepting an invitation, or a knight taking up a challenge. Or would it be the other way around? I would be less concerned with doing the wrong thing, than not doing a thing and living to regret it.

A wolf in sheep’s’ clothing ——— now Zahir had found himself accused of veiled malice as it seemed. Though in his defense, a part of him would argue that there is nothing wrong with the were notion of finding a clever way to survive and live another day. With how rugged weary wore the other, Zahir could assume that the other might at least see such a point of view. But for the other’s defense, he was really just a knight through and through. Deceit within his charge was sin—it’s fair to see him tense. Zahir continued on with his idle sway, the light now catching the silver sigil of the manticore that adorned the long tunic that he had on him.
“Me? An Ambassador to Casther—helping hand,” Zahir nodded on into a bow before he moved closer to a rack where a set of swords were laid gleaming under what light managed to flood through the windows in stark beams. Treacherous solemnity—almost as if that day didn’t happen. “——— and it seems like you need one too—you sure you weren’t punished?” he nodded on to distract himself, regarding the blade that the other was sharpening alone like the whole barracks asked him to do it all by himself.
An ambassador to the Casther sounded reasonable, but that still didn’t explain why he was in the Valtolian forge, where he otherwise had no business to be. Ramsden’s vigilance was down, but he wasn’t quite ready to lower his guard fully. He owed it to Valtolia to take every possibly threat seriously.
“Sometimes I prefer to work alone,” Ramsden says simply. “Not in battle, obviously, but I like to enjoy my isolation when I can. You seem to be the same way. Are you?”
What is your biggest regret?
“I refuse to live my life with regrets. I am a believer of the thought that everything happens for a reason, and dwelling on the past only harms your present and future.”

“ thank you, ” he said as the other complimented him. he definitely had good looks, artemis knew that, being blessed with brains and beauty, that it would be what made artemis stand out. but the fact that he was the middle child, that not so much. his minded wandered for a second before he realized that he had a meeting with one of the princes of sollia, and he sighed knowing that they would be held for some time.
when he felt the fabric on him, he felt the heaviness of the garment, being way too oversized for the young prince. his figure was much smaller, and it was like a tent for the young blond. “ no, he doesn’t, and i rather my father not know, but i feel that he would discover that my whereabouts are unknown quite soon. i don’t think he has many pleasant words to say when it comes to me. i at times feel like i am forgotten half the time.”
Ramsden sympathized for the middle prince. Though the knight himself was an only child, having received all of his parents’ attention, it must’ve been difficult growing up not the oldest —the heir apparent— or the youngest —the baby of the family— but the one between them, It made sense he’d try to sneak off on his own like the way he did, before Ramsden caught him.
“I understand that, my prince,” he said, nodding. “I suppose that this one time, I can let you off with a warning and not tell the kind — assuming he doesn’t find out first. But next time you’re looking to get out of the palace walls, I’d very much prefer you to tell me, so I can be your escort. That way, you get what you want, and the king won’t have it out for us if he learns of you sneaking about. Do we have a deal?”
Which kingdom has the most handsome men in your opinion?
“I would be biased in saying my own has the most handsome men, but I have to admit I’ve rarely come across an outright ugly fellow through the kingdoms... I suppose if I had to say one kingdom over the other, Sollia has some nice-looking men in their borders — but again, the competition is very narrow.”

“Really? None of them?” For a second, the knight’s taken aback. “Perhaps I’m not the master of single-sword styles as I like to say I am.” But then it’s back to all smiles. “Well, if anyone decides to challenge me on it, I’ll prove them wrong.”
The man gets his full attention again – and, goodness, that’s a good amount of man. Ygran pulls up the bag that’s moderately stuffed with leaves. “Taxes on this?” He asks. “What if I share with you what I already have prepared? Clears the mind, lets you ring like a bell.” But, of course, things likely wouldn’t be so simple. “Leonidas? He had some other business to attend to, which meant I could be here gathering now. And I wasn’t sneaking, as far as I knew. War’s off, not thieving or fighting,” His gaze travels down the knights body, hovers at his crotch for just a few seconds too long, then diverts to the weapon at his side. “At least not yet.”
The stranger’s demeanor is particularly amiable — Ramsden would even use the word flirty. His whole vibe was more casual and carefree than Ramsden himself was used to, and he couldn’t help but feel increasingly receptive to the other the longer they talked. The knight most certainly got the idea that Ygran was popular, in some respects. Ramsden wished he saw that quality in himself... but some of that also may have been wanting Ygran for himself. Just maybe.
Ramsden typically avoided substances that would alter his state of mind, but... Ygran was doing a pretty good job of enticing him. “Since you’re offering...” he shrugs, sitting beside the other, getting a deep whiff of the smoke. “This partner, Leonidas... how, exactly, are you partnered? If you don’t mind me asking. Partners in battle, or...?” What? Ramsden couldn’t help but be curious.

There it is. Tension starting to bleed from shoulders, but perhaps not entirely. The more Ramsden would appear to relax, the wider and warmer Vas’ grin would get. He lived for this, the gradual shift in a man from seeing the king as something intangible, something untouchable, to just another man in Valtolia.
Perhaps a man with more responsibility and great if not comparable combat skill, but still.
Vas clapped the knight’s arms, clearly glad for the vote of confidence. It’s the same smile one might see when the king wakes at dawn, or steps bare out onto the balcony to watch the sunrise achieve its apex. Full of light, of promise. “And I won’t call you Ramsy.” Then the grin twists, holding back a laugh, and he reaches to lightly pat the man’s cheek. “Unless you ask me to, of course.”
Ramsden knew he had difficulty relating with others most of the time, but this interaction with Vas was even more confusing than usual. Was the king just being friendly, or... something else? Perhaps a little bit of both? At the very least, he was acting exceptionally more intimate then he would be with most others outside the inner circle.
“It’s not up to me, is it? You’re the king... I’m little more than your subject. You can refer to me however you would like,” he says, looking down at the other man. “... Vas.”

rogan was suddenly very thankful that the pools between rooms didn’t connect. he sat up slightly, eyes opening as the other continued to talk. a disgusted look passed quickly over his features, “how unfortunate——” he exhaled a bit forcefully, releasing a bit of magic into the air with his breath to fill the room with the scent of vanilla and burning embers. rogan hoped it would prevent whatever lingering scent from said accident from disturbing his relaxation. “——well then you’re welcome to join me i suppose. do you drink ?? i’ve had a bottle of wine ordered, though only requested a single glass.” his head tipped to the side ever so slightly, “i could request another if you plan on staying.”
Had he not been a knight, the casual display of magic would’ve taken Ramsden off guard, but he was too familiar with mages in the Valtolian court to react. “No, that’s alright... my job calls for consistent sobriety... for the ones who take it seriously, anyway,” he said, settling into the warm water. “Thank you, though. You’re of the Sollian court, I presume?”

“That presumes I’m stupid enough to ever let someone do that to me, which is your first mistake.”

“I’ve held the same sword given to me as a young man all these years, and I don’t see myself parting with it anytime soon. A shield helps in battle, yes, but I find they slow me down more than benefit. Chainmail armor does the job adequately.”
