So since I am a masochist, I signed up to run the Ragnar Relay*, May 3-4 in Cape Cod with my co-workers. (*relay teams of 12 runners will cover almost 200 miles in 30 hours running through the night from Hull to Ptown)
(I have started a separate little blog dedicated to my "training" and participation in the relay here!)
My co-workers and I service 2,500+ individuals in Massachusetts who experience psychiatric disabilities. This population experiences one of the most significant health disparities in the country, and the data is sobering: persons with major mental illness live lives 25-30 years shorter than those without, often from conditions that are preventable or well managed by healthy living, diet, and exercise. We are running to raise awareness and money to support health initiatives that have the potential to literally add years to the lives of the people I serve, through the work I have committed my professional life and career to.
