Apr. 8, 2016: It’s not very often we get plants from Kalapana Tropicals. They have great plants but the timing when our local buying group seems to come up with enough to send an order is typically bad for us. Apr. 8, 2016: We’re moving from Ferndale to our forever home in Ortonville/Groveland Township very soon. One place we’ll definitely miss living near to when we move further north is Young’s Garden Mart in Warren. Larry dropped by there this week and picked up another one of the Encyclia tampensis plants from there (and a few other non-orchid plants).

Mar. 22, 2016: We’ve always wondered what’s up with all these orchids with what seemed like un-creative names. And then we found out it’s the way they registered orchid hybrids in Taiwan–the greenhouse/nursery put their name into the hybrid name! Big lip rescue
Mar. 14, 2016: It’s been a while since we took in any rescue plants due to our extremely limited space at home but Larry couldn’t pass up this particular one from Telly’s. It’s one of those “big lip” Phals! We’re hoping we can revive it. The flowers are still absolutely stunning but the plant hardly have any roots left.

Feb. 6, 2016: Back in 2/6/2016 we dropped by Taylor Orchids to visit Ron. The weather was unusually mild and it was a great way to spend an amazing day. Unfortunately, the Monday after this weekend was the day that kidney stones hit me. It hit me so hard that my life and work got a little backed up and its only now that I’m able to update our blog.
