I'm sure I've talked about this before, but I cant find a post I've made, so, lets have another go. Stuff to remember and think about in conflicts, politics, life. There are very very rare exceptions, but the more people are involved, the rarer exceptions are.
No one thinks they're the villain in the story. They have a reasoning that frames them as doing the right thing.
Morals are not universal. What you consider an absolute good, others may consider an absolute evil. That doesn't make you right.
Fear is the greatest motivator. People don't like saying they're afraid, so it gets called hate or anger, but underneath that is fear.
Fear is not rational. Might be exaggerated or invented, but that doesn't make it less real for people afraid of it.
Understanding =//= agreement. You can understand your opponent without agreeing with them.
Black and White issues don't exist. If you think it's that clean cut, you're probably ignoring some of the nuance.
The other side is not a monolith. The people supporting the thing you hate have as much variety and depth as your side. You can't hold all of them to the headlines.
Compromise is inevitable. That is a good thing. No one gets to mandate their demands unchecked across all others. You don't have to like any of it, but it will happen.
Analyze in a vacuum, make your choice in reality. Put aside your own perspective or opinions while you figure out the situation. Get your head around it from a couple of views. Then get out of that sterile situation and make a real choice.
I can't say this will make you happier. Important anyway.
