In the moonless night, I look at the sky and I see some stars, faintly shining. They're not many, and a storm is coming. And you gotta know something about me, I love starry skies... And yet, all I can think of is you.
You went on a holiday trip with your family. We didn't talk for days. When you came back, we talked as if no time had passed, and at some point I told you I wanted to say something I couldn't text. You know, being a workspace and all. You laughed and you said, call me tomorrow and tell me, if you have the time. Later that day, you said something happened, I'll tell you tomorrow but it's not bad. You reassured me and also mentioned it as if it was a done deal that we would meet. My heart jumped a little because of the certainty that you wanted to see me.
We were supposed to talk for five minutes haha And that somehow became an hour and 10 minutes until your battery ran out. Can't say I'm surprised, that's just what we do. We're supposed to speak for three minutes, and that somehow becomes two hours... I don't remember much I said, but it seemed like I was the funniest person in the world because you laughed so hard. And as you were laughing, I couldn't even remember what I had said that was so funny. All I could think of was how beautiful you looked and how happy it made me to make you happy. And as I look at the stars and I remember your laughter, your smile, and your shining eyes... I think to myself, I want to make you this happy every single day.
And towards the end, you told me the thing I was wondering the most, if in all that time you were away, you thought of me, if you ever missed me, or if that was just me... Before we hung up, you said, thank you for taking my call, as if it was a favor to you when I'd put the world to a stop if I could talk to you for five more minutes... You said: I missed you. And my heart stopped. I put my hands over my heart and I said, I missed you too.
