Answered a few asks for the expression challenge thingy in the new Disney style I’ve been experimenting with. I’m reasonably happy with how they turned out! This style is fun, I want to try to do more with it. <3 

(P.S. I’m not taking more asks for this particular challenge, though it was fun, so thanks to those who sent them in! If you sent one and it didn’t get drawn I’m sorry, I had quite a lot. I may do more at some point!)

Remus and Calvin have the same energy. Also I’m in love with the idea of Deceit as the put-upon Wine Mom of the dark sides.

Moceit with paternal anxceit/moxiety is my jam now. Janus and Patton are mom and dad and Virgil is their angsty teen son. I don’t make the rules.

Some snuggles! Could be Prinxiety or Thomas and Virgil, because I actually drew this as platonic. Sometimes Virgil is just a bit of a clingy octopus when he’s sleepy (it helps him sleep better because he senses the person he’s clinging to is safe if he’s holding onto them, which is why it might make sense as Thomas and Virgil, since Virgil is dedicated to protecting him? But then again he’s probably just as dedicated to protecting the other sides, so platonic Prinxiety also works).

But it could also also be romantic Prinxiety if you want. I’m pretty cool with whatever interpretation folks want on this one, actually, since I didn’t really have much of an idea what it was when I was drawing it (other than “Sleepy!Virgil being a cuddlebug”). But since I didn’t give the other person glasses it probably isn’t Logan or Patton. (though i guess actually maybe it still could be one of them because that phone is pretty close to their face…asdflkasfdjsa shut up LJ just post the damn thing)

Soooooo yeah anyway here it is.

Moxiety for Mer May! Another attempt at watercolor. This is number…six, I believe? 

I’m not thrilled with the tail…I don’t mind the effect per se but I couldn’t settle on the color scheme I wanted and I don’t know if I’m happy with the one I chose. But eh. 

I think next I’m’a draw Patton in this really pretty dress I found awhile ago but couldn’t get right with colored pencil. Wish me luck!

Watercolor attempt 1! 

I’ve decided to try to learn to paint with watercolors! This is partly due to inspiration from @justisaisfine and their spectacular work with watercolor (and also since colored pencil is just such slow work adsfasdfa). Big thanks to them for the tips and pointers as I am getting started here!

Starting out with some materials @sanders-sides-thuri already had lying around the house while I work through my first round of mistakes. Some of these paints are fairly old so I think I’ll be snagging myself some newer/nicer ones soon. I learned right away I wasn’t using enough water and definitely wasn’t mixing enough color (also learned that you don’t layer watercolor the way you do colored pencil…RIP paper). This will also be a medium that challenges me to be more patient since I didn’t wait for some spots to dry before adding next to them and got some significant bleeding. 

But I found some great tutorials and I think I’m ready to start making my next round of mistakes soon! I can’t wait to try again! :)

Not really an inktober prompt, just something I wanted to do: the sides as Steven Universe characters :D 

I designed Patton based on Steven himself (seemed to fit). Roman is based on Jamie the mailman-slash-aspiring actor, Logan on the sensible Pearl, and Virgil, on a combination of Lars and Sour Cream. 

I had a ton of fun with these! I hope you enjoy them!

THIS IS AMAZING The characters are very stylized and different from one another but still very recognizable and you got the SU style down pat. And those clean, hand-drawn pencil lines..Yes. 10/10. God I missed LJ’s art so much. :D
