Not dead. Saw the first three episodes of cours 4. Y'all, get excited.
The tl;dr of why I haven't been around, the answer is life. My heart and soul dog, Pippa, my corgi was diagnosed with cancer in May. We started chemo right away and she is responding to treatment. So hopefully she'll be in remission by the end of October. However, also, my mother fell and broke her hip at the beginning of June so handling that situation has been difficult. With all that happening, just haven't had the bandwidth to be around but fingers crossed, I shall be back soon. Maybe even this week as work should be minimal due to the holiday.
ooc;
If you wanna know why I have such a difficult time getting back into drafts/replies it's because of my job. Like, I schedule my work week in such a way that I should have a light amount of tasks to complete on Thursday and Fridays. HOWEVER, my writing cohorts don't follow this same principle. Cause, see on Mondays, I get all my clients' accounts stuff handled. But the other writers are just willy-nilly with when they want to do tasks. From week to week, the amount of work I have to do varies. Some days they're on top of it and I have a bunch of graphics to produce, or content to post, stuff to schedule. Other times, they're MIA??????? Plus, add in clients who can go from responding right away to an email to ones (OR THE SAME CLIENT JUST A DIFFERENT WEEK) that take MONTHS to get replies.
I just wanna be a stay at home dog mom. Why can't I just do that? Oh. Right. Bills.
Sometimes he forgot that in the realms of passion, Rangiku Matsumoto had him beat by miles.
He is upon his back from her actions and his hands instinctively rise to her hips, callous hands gripping onto her as his eyes meet with her own. Those emerald irises of his seem to always hold an impossible passion to them, an intensity which beget fire and brimstone in the world around him. The duality of softness and passion which always seemed at odds with one another inside of him always on display to her.
Her fingers scrapped and poked at the exposed skin of his chest, the hairy torso a quirk of his foreign origins. At least he had the decency to be clean and well-kempt around her. As she lowered her form to speak to him, he let a coy smile come onto his lips, staring at his wife with the sort of look which prompted recklessness.
"Admittedly, you do look rather stunning."
Her husband remark with a voice which seemed willfully ignorant, all the while one of the hands upon her hip would road beneath the fabric of her clothing. The rough, callous, hand roaming up the smooth and imperfection-free skin on her back. Fingers splaying outward as if to feel every part of her, committing to memory the lines of his surprising musculature. She was, despite everything else, a fighter like him.
Even if she looked infinitely better than him.
"What do you plan to do with this upper hand, my love?"
“Rather stunning? Rather. Hm.”
Her coquettish lilt took on a slight biting tone, a playful rouse at mocked offense; her fingertips retracted from his chest, purposefully scraping ever so slightly against his abdomen. Faint pink lines would blossom there eventually.
“You said that as if this is a rarity. That I’m not this stunning all the time…”
Palms pressed upon his chest as she lowered herself, chest to chest, lips peppering against his jaw. The kisses ceased as she eased up just a bit, able to lock her gaze once more with his as her hands trailed along his torso till it melded with her own. Her own hands coaxing up her form as she arched back, fingertips trickled up her sides, brushed along her bust.
“Then again, in this position…. I’m sure the view is marvelous.”
Her fingers had failed to stop their ascent as she spoke, instead continuing to traverse her form in the purposefully alluring fashion. All to end with a small flourish as they made their way up along her neck to finally flick the length of her hair out and behind her.
“That is a rather good question…” Her hips rolling ever so slightly, applying just the right amount of pressure to garner his attention. “I think I might make you beg for me.”
Gin’s reasoning behind his approach was not entirely clear before his mind. Nor why he had chosen to accept offerings the girl would leave each day, upon a path he began to utilize as though it were customary. This occurrence was in great contrast to that which was familiar to him; what she offered was a benevolence he would not have expected, and he was thusly compelled forth by a lapse in his understanding.
Demonstrations of chivalry were not unknown to him. He had witnessed those who relied upon one another and even the rare few who had offered up their very lives that another may not suffer, even if this effort was to be wasted. To Gin it was all merely an observation. In his estimations a rather foolish act, unless one wished for something in return. Yet what return could there for those who took death upon themselves? What had they considered worthy of such an irrational sacrifice?
Gin would not answer her query promptly, the stretched smile gradually softening. ❝Rangiku,❞ he pronounced to himself. ❝A whim perhaps,❞ he gave a low laugh as his gaze lingered to gather an impression of her injuries. ❝For I have wondered what has inclined ya to continually leave a bit of substance. Have ya hoped that I would come before ya?❞
Languidly he looked about the scorched foundations and ashes of the home where he had often felt Rangiku’s presence alongside several others. Now she alone remained. ❝It appears fortune has been rather nefarious to ya. They have been killed and their humble domain ravished alongside.❞ Gin spoke of death and calamity with a simple manner. For while such things could possibly inconvenience him, it left no devasting impression upon him. He had not yet found anything which was beyond his bearing or tolerance, nor something he would value enough to be grieved at its departure or destruction.
❝Would ya wish death upon those who committed this act?❞ The concealed eyes slowly eased to reveal their striking pallor. In them was neither the vigour of a child nor malice or tenderness, only an unwavering curiosity.
Rangiku’s fingers tightened faintly around the remaining food he’d given her, though she hadn’t realized she was holding it at all. His words reached her, slow and distant, like something carried on water — close enough to hear, but never quite to grasp.
Her gaze lingered on him, searching not his face, but the feeling he left behind. "…Have I…?" she echoed softly, his question returning to her as though it had always been her own. Had she hoped he would come closer? Had she been waiting? Had she left him offerings?
Recognition… or the shape of it. It stirred faintly in the hollow spaces of her mind, like a dream half-remembered upon waking. The glint of silver amongst the tree line. Rice cakes carefully left. A worn path that faded into the forest, foggy visions, disconnected in telling and her memory. And yet—
There was nothing holding it together.
No memory to anchor it. Nothing that made any sense to her, just a faint sensation of familiarity. Her brow knit, frustration flickering through the exhaustion, through the pain. "I don’t… know." The admission came quieter than the rest. "I felt like I should. Like… if I kept leaving something, eventually—"
Her voice faltered. Eventually what? She was crafting an answer to the memory she couldn’t quiet place. One he remembered, but she could only vaguely comprehend. Did he know?
A dull ache pressed behind her eyes as she tried to force the thought back, but it only left her more unsteady, more aware of the fractures in her own mind. There were too many gaps. Too many things that should have been there, but weren’t. Even now, sitting in the ashes of a place she should remember, it felt less like loss… and more like something had already been taken long before the attack had happened.
Gin’s question followed, cutting cleanly through the haze.
Would you wish death upon them?
Rangiku stilled.
For a moment, there was nothing — no grief, no anger, no answer. Just emptiness, vast and quiet. Then, slowly, something fragile surfaced beneath it. Not rage. Not even sorrow. Just… weight. Her eyes lowered to the scorched earth, to where life had once persisted in quiet, stubborn kindness.
"…I should, shouldn’t I?" she murmured, more to herself than to him. Another pause. Longer this time. Her grip loosened. "But I don’t even know who they were..."
There was no bitterness in it. No defiance. Only a strange, distant honesty — as if even hatred was something that belonged to a version of herself she could no longer reach. At last, her gaze lifted again to him, studying him with that same quiet, searching uncertainty.
Ooc: does she finds it hard to style her hair?
Asks; | Headcaon Asks;
Rangiku is one of the few that we see multiple (dramatic) hairstyle changes throughout the series. Chronologically, she starts with her long beachy-wavy hair, cut to her short lob style in TYBW and flashbacks we have the straighter shoulder length cut and then we see in the timeskip she’s back to having long hair. I will note that it appears that the waviness of her hair is more relaxed.
I do believe that she has a gentle wavy texture to her hair and all her styling is enhancing or embracing that wave rather than fighting against it.
Therefore, styling it isn’t difficult, it’s just time consuming. It would involve things like proper conditioners, and products, using the proper brush, drying techniques and then using certain styling tools or using something like heatless curling rolls at night to accentuate the wave.
Her straighter shoulder length cut during flashbacks show that she’s not opposed to using heat to straighten out the wavy texture, to give it that more sleek and straight style. Same with the flash forward in the Hell Arc.
Additionally, she is a creature of embracing trends, so a lot of how she styles and does her hair can be traced back to what’s the current fad – especially once she has plenty of access to outside forces. Let’s not even talk about the number of hair styling Tiktoks she would watch when she should be doing paperwork.
I am going to work on replies but I have an urge to write headcanons...so, hit up that ask box.
Rage focused his gaze on the bottle. "I kinda just grabbed something off the shelf. I didn't actually give it a look until you mentioned it." Placing the cup before Ran, He could only think of one thing to do. "Do you want to tag along to buy something else?"
Unprompted Ask | Always Accepting
A secondary sip was necessarily taken to determine if the contents were poor or if she had just been taken aback by the taste. Another sip didn’t do it any justice. Her expression twisting in mild disgust once again as the alcohol settled upon her taste buds. Setting the bottle down she turned with a soft smile, “Yeah, we need something else, pronto.”
what's your type in dating? and is it problematic? (she liked Gin so I'm guessing yes lol)
Unprompted Ask | Always Accepting
She was bound to take offense to that remark, crossing her arms beneath her chest.
"Right, like no one's had a bad relationship before. Gin wasn't always..." her words trailed off, the soft hint of pain shown in her eyes as her vision flickered away gaze out onto the horizon.
"He could be sweet, he was to me, at least but he also deceived me. Kept things from me. Lied to me." She need not go on, fearful that she teetered upon the edge of treading down a dark path she worked so hard to escape, heal from.
"I guess I wouldn't say I have a type per say, have a good personality, make me laugh, spend time with me...I'll know if there's attraction there or not."
"As for problematic," she gave a little shrug, "I'm probably the problem. But I'm worth it."
Ooc: what kind of drink does she prefer?
Unprompted Asks | Always Accepting
Rangiku's preferred drink of choice is sake, she likes a semi-sweeter kind but she's overall not that picky. She'll drink whatever everyone else is drinking (and paying for). Her experience with beers and wines are limited, she'd probably pick a white over a red when it comes to wine. As for beers, she's pretty open but likes more fruited or sours. When it comes to liquor, she's an absolute sucker for a gimmicky cocktail and certainly can and will drink liquor straight, preferring clear liquors over dark. She's not much of a fan of bourbon or whiskey but if the time calls for it, she will drink that straight.
"Want to go out drinking?" The man asked, holding a bottle of liquor in one hand and a pair of cups in the other. "Or we can stay in and drink."
Unprompted Asks | Always Accepting
The bottle had been swiped from his hand in the blink of an eye, she was already stealing a sip. “Set the cups down,” she remarked as she pulled the bottle from her lips, expression twisting in mild disgust; she had expected sake, but this didn’t taste anywhere near anything she had ever had before. “What even is this…?” The question posed to the room.
Kengou sets down the paperwork he'd been doing for her and sighs heavily. "Welcome back Lieutenant Matsumoto."
The mere sight of paperwork already had her skin crawling. Her relaxed, laissez faire demeanor – gone – in an instant the paperwork touched her desk. She could bolt again, no one would know the difference, right? Right?
Her pale blue gaze traveled upwards to Kengou’s expression, that sigh hadn’t been missed, nor were the stress lines in his forehead that hadn’t been present the last time she had seen him. Fingers anchored to the paperwork, dragging it in front of her as she offered a gentle smile.
“Thank you, I owe you one for holding down the fort while I was away.”
Cue the perfectly executed hair flip.
"Who's missed me?"
The torso is the best parts. So long as his junk still works, right? Plus you dont have to do anything, probably, and have the status of a Queen. At least you know he won't run away, complain, or cheat.
Unprompted Ask | Always Accepting
Her expression twisted in absolute disgust, her pale gaze giving a once over in silent judgement of the statement. “Yeah, cause that’s what all women want, emotionless sex where they have to do all the work. Yeah, absolutely….not.”
Fingers slid through locks, casually tossing them gently over her shoulder, “I’ve never had a man complain or cheat in my company…” She’d purposefully ignore the statement of ‘run away’ – those circumstances were different; we’re not talking about it. “It’s still going to be a no.”

If the soul king demanded Rangiku to become his wife, would she drop everything on the spot and rush to his side or would she resist and would her captain protest the wedding?
Unprompted Ask | Always Accepting
“Absolutely not. The wife of the Soul King sounds impressive until you remember he’s a torso.”
Her hand waved dismissively, her expression borderline disgusted at the absurdity of the idea. “And why does my taichou need to come to my aid? I’m perfectly capable of handling myself.”
She gave a quick glance around before hollering, “TAICHOU!” Having no idea if he was even within earshot of her yelling, “The weird little gray face is asking if you’d protest my wedding!” No context given.
