tink grinned at the comment of loving her friends too much to be looking for any new ones, but that smile faltered once rani confessed to what she’d really been up to. sitting up, she stared at the other girl for a moment, almost expecting her to take it back or say she’d only been joking. when she doesn’t all of tink’s protective instincts kick up foll blast. “who?”

rani knew this was coming and somehow she still felt unprepared. she wasn’t planning on lying to tink, but she wasn’t sure if the truth was going to really help either. it was still better than nothing. “umm....his name is harrison. he is a business owner.....a few years older, but he is super sweet! tink he doesn’t try to rush things or pressure me or anything. he has been nothing but kind to me. he can be a bit of a hothead towards others though, i think you two would get along.”

dropping down onto the couch in rani and clarion’s apartment, tink turned her head to stare at her friend for a few seconds before finally asking the question she’d come here intending to get an answer to. “so,” she starts, trying to act nonchalant and like this hasn’t been on her mind for weeks now and failing pretty badly. “you’ve been gone a lot lately. found a new group of friends i should be jealous of?” it wasn’t an accusation and was said jokingly, but it still opened the conversation for just what it was rani had been up to lately. @ranifalls​

rani was a little nervous to tell tink about harrison. she was the most....passionate one our of their friend group and with her passion came....aggression. she wasn’t going to hurt rani and she knew that. but harrison? she was sure she would try. “no, no new friends. i’m too happy and too in love with the friends i have now.” she smiled at the blonde. “i...have been sort of seeing someone though.”

Were her ears working and did she hear right? Rani was seeing someone. Rani was seeing someone. As in, someone completely new who isn’t·that jerk face of a so-called ex boyfriend? And someone who—at this current moment—was also completely·unknown·to her at that. Missy blinked, the concerned thought of why she hadn’t noticed Rani speaking to someone before crossing her mind for a second before she smiled brightly at her best friend.·“Rani, that is so wonderful to hear!” Missy claimed, as she reached over and grasped the blonde hands into her owns.·“I’m so happy for you! You have to tell me how you two met, what he looks like, how long you’ve two been seeing each other, and the works!”

Rani squeezed Missy’s hands, near tears just because Missy was being so warm with her. “His name is Harrison, he owns a business, a little older so don’t be mad,” she laughed lightly. “He’s tall and warm and so nice to me. I met him outside his bar, actually. He’s funny, and at first I wasn’t sure what his intentions were....but I promise he is good, Missy. And I’m really excited about our potential future?”

He shut the door behind her to block out the noise of the bar and just in case any of his nosy employees were lurking around. “That’s good, I’m glad to hear it,” he returned the smile, though there was a part of him that was still a little nervous. He didn’t really know why, though. He went over, sitting on the edge of his desk, still looking at her. Harrison chuckled a bit. “You’re not messing everything up, Rani. Can’t imagine you messing anything up.” He offered a smile. “Ask away. I’m a hundred percent certain it’s not going to be anything nearly as stupid as some of the questions I get asked while working. Not that I think it’s gonna be stupid at all, I just… What’re your questions?”

Rani laughed, but it was mostly from nerves. “You’re really sweet. I umm...I guess I just was wondering....we hang out together a lot and I really like hanging out and being around you and...maybe being with you? I mean, if you feel that way. I don’t know. I just....I know I’m a lot, but I’m going to let myself be a little more....because I like you and I haven’t felt this way about someone in a really long time.” She looked at him. “I know I’m dropping a lot here but I just want to know what we’re doing? I don’t wanna dance around things anymore.”

He was just about to head out of his office to work the bar when he suddenly saw Rani walk up. Which was a surprise, but not a bad one. She looked nervous, though. Her cheeks were red and all of that along with her question made a look of confusion cross his face. “Nope, not busy,” he stepped back inside his office a bit, making room for her to come in if she wanted to. “What’s up? You doing alright?”

she was almost hoping he was, but at the same time she knew it was better now than never. she entered his office, fiddling with her hair a little as she did so. “i’m alright. i’m really good,” she said with a small smile. “i just had something to ask you....or more than one thing i guess. but it’s kind of stupid, so.....” she laughed nervously. “i’m just messing everything up.”

rani felt weird keeping harrison from her friends, but she also wasn’t sure where they stood. it was weird because she wanted to know but she was also scared to ask. but still she was prepared to try.she had made her way to his office and was standing tall and she was so ready. but then he was standing at his doorway and she was blushing and anxious and regretted it all. “umm....are you busy?”

He grinned as she walked over. “I do like greek, it’s a fine choice,” he chuckled. “My father’s side of the family was greek so I had a lot of it growing up.” He watched her as she seemed to zone out for a moment, lost in her own spiraling thoughts it seemed. He laughed when she finally responded. “Good; glad you’re good. You look good,” Hades hated how many times he said good so far. Whatever. He made sure his desk was cleared off enough for both of them to have room to eat. Part of him feels like he’s helped her feel great and there’s an even smaller part of himself that hates that he’s doing this. What is this? He honestly doesn’t remember anymore. He knew it started because she seemed naive and like someone he could have some fun with, but now they were eating lunch in his office and he barely knew what to say because all of his usual flirtations and comments were too much and he really didn’t want to scare Rani off because he was too overbearing. And what the fuck was that about? He helped her unpack the food and set it all up. “This looks amazing; like it’d the second most delicious thing in this room,” he teased, giving her a look. Just because he didn’t want to be too much didn’t mean he was going to completely hold everything back. He took a bite and, yeah, that was some pretty good greek food. Honestly, most food was good food to him. Hades just liked food. “ I love this office lunch time thing we’re doing, but next time I’m gonna get you food. Someplace at least a little nicer than my office. For dinner maybe?”  he said a little pointedly, hoping to hint at what he was asking. “I mean only if you’d want to.”

Rani felt herself blushing at his words, trying her best to not react so strongly to certain comments. He was always cracking jokes and she thought he was funny,but there was a small part of her that wondered if he was really joking or not. “You look good too,” she said finally, nibbling at her food. “And dinner would be nice. Really nice. Like I would like that a lot.” She hadn’t had a dinner date in forever. Or any date. Dressing up nice to go out and have great food just sounded perfect. She thinks she is finally ready for this. “Is this you formally asking me out?” She really, really, hoped it was. “Because if it is, I’m saying yes. And if you aren’t then...forge I uhh said anything.”

Giving Rani a tight but comforting squeeze, Missy kept the hug going for a few extra seconds until ·she finally pulled back. “And you’re so adorable.” Missy lifted a hand and playfully tapped Rani against the nose. She could already sense that there was something important the blonde had to say, Rani’s aura, though now relaxed, had been filled with nerves until she had hugged her. “I did let the bracelet I was making fall against my table and hadn’t picked it up, but it’s fine. My doors locked.” She reassured, following after her friend. At the mention of news, Missy’s interest peaked as she stared at her friend with interest. “Oooh, is it something juicy?”·

Rani put a hand to her heart. “Oh good. As long as your bracelet is safe.” She chewed at the inside of her cheek. Here it goes. She could do this. “So....I might be seeing someone.Or like...we are sort of hanging out. I dunno it’s hard to put a label to it, Missy. But..he’s really awesome. And I like him a lot. And I’m also really nervous about telling everyone considering...you know.” She sighed. “I just....hate not teling you guys everything. But I wanted to make sure that I was making the right choice before saying anything.”

When Rani texted her and invited her over to her apartment she shared with Clarion, Missy cheerfully responded back with how she’ll be there in a few. Rani’s apartment was just across the hall from the one she shared with Fawn, so it took Missy not even ten minutes before she was standing in front of Rani’s door and letting herself in. “Rani!” The empath said back, with a bright and happy expression at the sight of one of her most precious of friends. “Of course! I’ll drop anything I’m doing just to come and see you! Literally.” Missy then stated, as she pulled Rani in for a hug.

Rani hugged her back happily, her nerves melting the way the moment she was in the girls’ arms. She didn’t really wanna pull away but she did because she knew the tea would get cold. “You’re so precious. I hope you weren’t doing anything that important...I would hate that you dropped everything for me...” She went back into the kitchen to get them two mugs. “But if that isn’t the case I’m super excited to talk...I umm...I have something to tell you about.”

rani hadn’t really been honest with her friends about the fact that she was seeing someone. or she hadn’t really told any of them that she was potentially seeing someone. regardless, she knew it wasn’t okay and wanted to start telling them about harrison one by one. the first was missy because she was her best friend and the easiest to talk to by far. she was trying to be as calm as she could be because missy would see if she wasn’t. she had invited her over to the apartment shared with clarion and was making her tea when she arrived. “missy!” rani said happily, bringing the kettle off the stove to let it cool down. “thanks for coming over.”

“How have you been?” Tommy questioned her as he slid into the seat across from her, a little nervous. He hadn’t talked to Rani much since he had taken her to the Sweetheart’s ball and well - he was feeling a little guilty over it. He just got nervous when it came to stuff like that, he didn’t know how she felt and he didn’t want to lead her on or anything. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you more but then I just… get sidetracked.” He admitted sheepishly. @ranifalls​

Rani smiled at Tommy. He was a really sweet and she felt bad for not trying to talk to him more herself. The Sweetheart’s ball was really nice and she just...got caught up in the Harrison stuff not long after. “I’m doing good, thank you for asking,” she said sweetly. “It’s okay. I understand, alright? Are you doing okay?”

He hadn’t expected anyone coming into his office, but he definitely didn’t expect Rani. “Oh, hey, Rani,” he grinned, waving her into the room. She looked happy. Which was good. For as well as things seemed to have gone last time he say her—just conversations, but conversations that led somewhere— he couldn’t help but wonder if she’d just stay away until their paths accidentally crossed again either because she god bad vibes from him or she heard someone say something about him that he wasn’t sure he really wanted exposed yet. “Oh,” he said, again another surprise. “That’s… very thoughtful of you, thank you so much,” he was definitely being more polite than he probably had to but at the same time… no one had ever done something like that for him before? Just because they wanted to? “I actually haven’t, but was definitely thinking about taking a break in a few, so your timing is perfect. You’re gonna join me, right? Would be a little disappointed if this was only a delivery,” he teased. “If you’re busy, I get it and I won’t keep you too long. But you’ll have to make it up to me some other time.” He got up, going over to give her a hand with what she’d brought. “So what’d you bring? Not that it really matters, I’ll eat just about anything,” he chuckled. Which was true. Especially if it had a bit of spice to it. Then he realized that even though he’d been a bit polite he wasn’t really making this a two-way street. “Also how’re you?”

Rani was glowing. She wasn’t sure if she could feel any better than she did in that moment. Harrison was a lot of things, but he was stubborn for sure. She thinks this is the first time she really heard him say thank you and mean it. And that on its own was progress. “Of course I’ll join you,” she said with a grin. “It’s greek. I dunno. I just felt like greek was the best choice today. Is that alright? I hope you like it.” She was suddenly a little worried that he wouldn’t like what she brought and that she was making an idiot of herself. She almost missed him asking how she was and she felt a little bad for pausing because of how caught up she was getting in her worry. “Me? I’m okay. I’m actually great. Best I’ve been in a while...”

Rani liked the days she could have watching Fawn in her element. She was so talented in what she did and the kindness she had for the animals she took care of was a sight to see. She believes that everyone should know Fawn and see her work at some point in their life. She also believed that there was no one else on the island as easygoing and relaxing as Fawn. Not to say anything rude about the rest of her friends they just could be a little intense...but this was nice. And calm. And Rani wished she was doing more than observing, but it was a start. “Are you hungry yet?” she asked politely. “I made sandwiches and would love to give you one if you want it...”

Things were different between Harrison and Rani and that was evident. She had a skip in her step. She felt like she was moving forward...and that she was in a good spot and she was really happy to see what was going to happen next. She looked forward to seeing Harrison and figuring things out with him and taking the next course of action. She stopped by the Underworld without being invited and wasn’t even nervous when she knocked on the door that led to his office in the back. “Harrison?” she said with a smile the moment his door was opened to her. “I brought you something to eat.....I figured you didn’t have anything to eat yet tonight since you’re normally so busy...”

Thoughts on Harrison?

“He’s nice. I mean sometimes he says things that....remind me of certain people from my past. But that doesn’t mean he’s a bad person or like him! He is really trying to get to know me and is patient with me and I really appreciate that. It’s been a while since a guy really....flirted with me. So it feels so new and I’m scared I’ll fuck it up, but I really hope I don’t? He’s been really kind to me.”

Would you ever go back to your ex?

“As much as I would like to say no, the answer to that is yes. I was with him for a long time and I know his heart....I can’t just say I don’t think things will be the same but they might not be that different either and I just....I always hope he becomes a better person. He isn’t going to be locked up forever and as shitty as it is.....he is the only one who cares about me that way. And I will always have love for him so I can’t say I wouldn’t go back....”
