I’ve been with my job for the last four years. I think it’s time for a change in direction.
I love the kind of work I do, but i swear. The people I work with have beyond ruined it for me.
It absolutely blows my mind how people can be so lazy in the workspace.
I work in travel. The last two years have been stressful not only for customers (which I completely understand and empathize 100%, but for us travel agent as well. That will be another post for another time.)
I deal with high escalated travel reservations that can include anything from a simple name change, to reviewing why something wasn’t done as asked, as well as working with the executives from both the travel company and bank (a third party partnership.)
Now let me tell you the kind of employee i am before we get into the rant.
I work the highest escalated cases that travelers submit to the executive team. This can vary in severity. I not only do my own work, with a fill basket of files i need to work, but i also work other peoples files they don’t work (which these agents do not get reprimanded.) So if my max for files if five, im in total working seven to ten files, each having a different due date (depending on the level of complaint.) God forbid i feel overwhelmed with the amount of files i have. I’ll get told to do them and make sure they are on time (even though the files received are already two to three days late.) God forbid i ask to be put on a project to help boost my percentage. But that is not allowed. Only agents who either have proven they dont want to do their job or lead favorites get a project.

What irks my soul, bringing me to my breaking point with my peers, is when an executive is giving me a direct order to work with my leads on this travel case and my leads ignore me for THREE DAYS STRAIGHT. That warrants for frustration.
My direct lead and I do not see eye to eye. We haven’t since they were an agent (will be using they/them for protection of identity). When I reach out for clarification on what should be done with this case, what I think they would do (i like to understand how others would work it as if it was there’s to see if we are on the same level of thought), or if I need approval to do a specific task with the case, you’d expect them to respond within timeframe. No. I get ignored not only by my direct lead, but all the other leads on the project. It’s been a known pattern to which I’ve bought up to management on numerous occasions, only to be told “they’re busy. They’ll get to you when they can” . Yet, you can visibly see in the work group chat they are socializing with their bff and other agents, knowing I’m reaching out for assistance. We also wont bring up how them and the other lead even got the promotion (complete and utter bullshit including favoritism for them and a corporate complaint for the other.)
After being ignored for three days, i documented my file with lack of assistance as requested, did my ask, and advised my executives that I reached out for assistance from the day of the ask until yesterday, being the closing of the file. Am I an asshole for doing so, no. I made it appoint in the file the times i reached out for assistance as well as who i reached out to for assistance. If they want to reprimand me for doing a direct ask, let them. I will entail tell them i will not sign it as there is proof of me reaching out as well as proof of no response.
My project ends in September. Two months. My prediction is that I will not have a job in two months as the leads will be recommending the remaining agents to projects within the company. As I am one of the most hated agents on the program today, I am just waiting the day they advise me i am terminated from my four year contract. I would cash out my time off and hopefully find a company that is willing to have me in their company and show how much i can do and offer to their brand.
