Our bodies are a gift from God, the Creator of all things.
I have seen…the smoke of a thousand villages, villages whose people are without Christ, without God and without hope in the world.
Robert Moffat
British missionary to Africa in 1816
To do what ought to be done but what would not have been done unless I did it, I thought to be my duty.

What God is teaching me this week: He is always there
This morning I got up and spent some time alone with the Lord. This week the Lord has been reminding me again and again of the same thing. He is always there. I never walk alone. He is always in control.
Isaiah 25:3-4 says, "Therefore strong peoples will glorify you; cities of ruthless nations will fear you. For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat."
How many times am I in distress and do not cry out to the Lord? He is already there. He wants to comfort us and strengthen us by His presence.
This last week I have received a lot of prayer requests from friends. Hearing of unplanned pregnancies and the realities of being a single moms has brought me to my knees in prayer. But this news has also allowed me sing praises because new lives are being formed in the womb by Creator God. Hearing from doctors that my friend's mom needs to have surgery to remove a benign brain tumor first brought fear and questions. But just moments later, the Lord reminded me that He is right beside them and that He has already brought this family through so much. He has never left them and never will. His name is going to be praised because of this trial. Talking to a friend about the pains of her breakup and the questions she has causes me to pray for reconciliation, healing, and the grace of God. He walks right beside her and loves her with an everlasting love. Hearing that my dad is in Chicago because of a pastors conference and that he gets to see his sister who does not know the Lord causes me to pray diligently for her blind eyes to see the truth of the Gospel and the abundant love of Christ. I know that the Spirit of God was working through my dad to share Jesus. Hearing that my brother's friends are dealing with undiagnosed depression breaks my heart. I praise God that my brother has been so diligent in reaching out to them with the hope of Christ. The Lord has created them for a reason and He loves them deeply. Living on a hall of 70 women and hearing about the hardships that they have gone through and are going through has shown me again and again that God was always with them and is with them now in the midst of the storm. As I pray for a friend whose life has been torn by her parent's divorce I sometimes give up and wonder when things are going to get better. The Lord then reminds the that He has a greater purpose in all of this and He is already using it for His glory.
I cannot see the things that God has planned. I have seen Him work powerfully in the past, but when it comes to the future why do I so quickly fear He is not in control? Mark 9:14-29 tells the story of Jesus healing a demon-possessed boy. The disciples could not heal the boy so they came to Jesus. And Jesus said, "All things possible for him who believes." The boy's dad said, "I believe; help my unbelief!" That's the prayer of my heart. Help me to believe Lord! Increase my faith in You!
Psalm 121:1-8 says, "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore."
Lord, You are the keeper of my life! I never walk alone because You never slumber or sleep!
Remember whose you are and whom you serve.
My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers
devotional for February 11
Imitating Christ’s Humility 1 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Do Everything Without Grumbling 12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. 14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.
Philippians 2:1-16
And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy,
Colossians 1:9-11
Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.
1 Peter 5:2-4 ESV
Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD! Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways! You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently. Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments. I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules. I will keep your statutes; do not utterly forsake me!
Psalm 119:1-8 (ESV)
Lord I am so thankful for the leadership on 27-2. You have used them to encourage and challenge my soul. Bless them for they have been a blessing to me!
