Thousands of miles away from my little home town I find myself in a bar in Valparaíso with a post card of it on the wall. Nice!
If there is nothing to see, open your eyes and appreciate the little things.
How many colours fit into one mountain range?
Wild animals in the beautiful landscape of the Bolivian Andes region. Flamencos and vicuñas, the gold of the andes.
Many names could be given to this unique place - the white dessert, where sky and earth merge or the never-ending mirror. Most beautiful place I was allowed to see so far.
Unfortunately I missed to ask what these are for. And what their price is. Decoration? Magic sticks? Differenct cultures, different habits…
On the island of the sun on the Titicaca lake. When you're sitting in the boat going to the island being shaken by the waves it's really hard to believe you're at over 3,500 meters above see level.
Arequipa, favorite city of South America so far. Charming big city close to the sea side and mountains, which might have given the city its name. In Aymara, one of the oficial indiginous languages of Peru it means behind the mountains. Or it comes from Quechua, the other oficial indiginous language, meaning: You can stay. But doesn't matter where the name comes from, great city!
Canyon del Colca - in and out into the deepest canyon of the world and watching out for the majestic condors. And other gifts of nature like the San Pedro cactus, used as a hallucinogen, cactus bacteria, which turn into red paint if you rub them (used in some coscmetic products) and other plants used in the Andes as cure for several diseases.
Great art project found in Museo Inka - Cusco, Peru. Unexpected.
When walking the ruins of Sacsayhuamán you cannot avoid to be astonished about how the incas build this place, considering the size and the weight of the stones.
Haute cuisine cusqueña: mouth of cow and no, no rats - guinea pig. Not going to be my favorite kitchen though...
Inca Jungle Trail! Highly recommendable! But go for the cheapest. That some offer more than others is a fairy tale, although try to tell you that haha Awesome trip including biking downhill passing over a kilometre in height, rafting, sip lining, walking inca trails and a visit in the the most impressive ruin there is probably: Machu Picchu!
Lunch with some of my peruvian family. Of course, ceviche can't be missed! Lovin' it. Thanks for the nice days!
