Roads are very important in TheoTown. Thanks to them, cars can move around in the city. Every building (with some exceptions) needs at least one adjacent tile of a road to work.
Dirt roads are roads added in PC version. Cars move slowly on it. Its price is very low.
Dirt roads give buildings road access, but you cannot elevate them.

Country roads are roads added in the 2007 PC version and in the Android version. Cars can move at normal speeds on it. Its price is low.
Country roads can be elevated and buildings connect to them.
Description: Cars can drive fast on it.
One-way road is a road added in version beta 1.1. They have two lanes in the same direction. They have dark yellow arrows on them to indicate the direction of the road. Before beta 1.2.42 the arrows were bright yellow. Its price is low.
One-way roads can be elevated and they connect to buildings.
Description: Cars may only drive in one direction on this road type. Use it to control traffic.
Avenues (formerly known as alleys) were first released in version beta 1.2.10, but originally added in testing update beta 1.2.01. They are 3 tiles wide. One tile is a one-way road, the second are the alley trees, the third tile is a one-way road in the opposite direction.

Expressways are roads added in version beta 1.1. Cars can drive very fast on it. It can be elevated. Their cost is high.
You cannot place any buildings next to a expressway.
Description: Fast connection between two locations.
Highways are roads first released in version beta 1.2.10, but originally added in beta testing update beta 1.2.01. It is the first 2-tile wide road. Cars can drive the fastest on it. It can be elevated. Its price is the highest of all roads.

Description: The perfect road to connect distant areas.
A tile is a single unit of the area of buildings or length of roads. Each tile is a square with a side of 8 meters, making each tile 64 m2. Its display size in pixels is 64x32 (due to isometric angle of view).
Every building has a size in tiles. However, due to the engine used in TheoTown, buildings can only have square plot sizes from 1x1 to 8x8. Larger buildings are not possible, even using plugins.
Overpasses are elevated roads. They were added to TheoTown in version beta 1.2.37, which was a beta testing update. You can build them by selecting one of the buttons on top right of the road building mode.
