December 12, 1997 - Scream 2 is released theatrically in Canada and the US.

The horror film was directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson. It starred Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Laurie Metcalf, Jamie Kennedy, Jerry O’Connell, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jada Pinkett and Liev Schreiber.

On opening weekend in the US, the film grossed just under $33 million and went on to earn $101 million. Worldwide, the film’s gross was $172 million.
