New personal theory

The song playing in the background at the E3 reveal was about a woman who shot a girl and then tried to escape but ended up in prison for a long time.

In the trailer you can see a bite on Ellie’s neck and hear the strain in her voice as though she’s about to cry. And the fabled blood tears of revenge.

In the E3 playthrough reveal you can see Ellie is now wearing Dina’s bracelet.

Joel is assumed to be dead.

Ellie wants to destroy the cult.

What if the cult somehow captured Dina, and caused her to become infected. Such as leaving her out in the open forest unable to escape from infected.

But before she turns. They drop her back and Dina then turns and meets a patrol at Tommy’s dam. Joel and Ellie are on that patrol cus be damned if Joel wasn’t there to look after Ellie’s back. Dina kills Joel and Ellie can’t kill her. Dina and Ellie struggle and Ellie is attacked by her receiving the bite on her neck that is visible in the trailer. She then shoots her in the head.

Ellie decides to go and get her revenge soon the cult by taking out the leader but first takes Dina’s bracelet with her to remember why she chose to take her path of vengeance.

Personal theory from TLOU Part 2

The girl Ellie danced with and kisses, Dina. She was wearing a bracelet a the dance. Ellie wasn’t. But then what if Ellie who has formed some emotional attachment to this new character, became fueled with rage and hatred from this new cult we have seen in that they either take Dina or kill her in their gruesome method of disembowlment and hanging.

At this point in the trailer you can see she isn’t wearing it. But is already determined to find and kill these cultists.

And here in the play through you are able to clearly see the bracelet Dina had. As a memory or keepsake to Ellie and remind her of why she has chosen the path of destroying the cult.

It keeps in line with what has already been told about part two as the first part, was largely based around love and father daughter bonds. We were all then told that part two was going to be centered around hate and/or revenge.
