Check out the blood grooves on the lower canine of this Fisher! It's especially cool to see them next to the upper canine, which doesn't display the grooves in this particular specimen.
Blood grooves are there to reduce suction when the animal bites deep into prey. That way, they can let go and bite again if need be.
Tiny crocodilian. Sharp toothed bebé.

Hey if you get the chance could you take some comparisons between your coyotes? I know you have ones from different states, I'd love to see the differences between them. Thanks!

I’ve got a few not pictured, but its because they’re still in the process of cleaning. This is everyone so far, obviously with the vast majority being from Arizona. I’m working on getting a pair from every state but it’s slow going.
If you feel so inclined, you could shoot me a tip over on my KO-FI!
Don't trust collectors who say that nasal turbinates don't matter.
The inside of an animal’s nasal cavity tells us lots of information about the environment it lived in and the family it belongs to. Aggressive treatments such as boiling damage them: anyone who uses those methods to “clean” bones is not a true enthusiast.
In the photo: harp seal, wolverine, striped hyena, cheetah.

Jacked up teeth on Wyoming X1. She’s the coyote with the huge hole in her face whom I suspect got caught up in some wiring that wore her teeth down. That had to have been a problem for a while to cause such extensive and deep damage.
Great African pelican by Christopher Marley
Smallest and largest coyote baculum bones in my collection, both from local boys. The small one was a juvenile, but had all his permanent teeth.

Uh oh I found a new thing I love to paint
It may not be pretty, but it's emotional
More roadkill paintings!
Another! *mug smash*

The last partially mummified skull in the yard: done!
But wait! There's more!
Turns out you can oil paint in the rain, but it's suboptimal

I really like the hands holding the skull instead of a shelf. The display feels more poignant that way.
