Full illustration of FFXVâs Ravus for @ravuszine đ„
Iâm so happy to have had participated in @ravuszine, because it prompted me to work on a pic of Ravus with his niece and nephew! They deserved this! He deserved this! Days in the sun with family.
And our donation has been made! Together, we were able to raise $255 for Big Brothers, Big Sisters!!Â
We honestly didn't expect this turnout, and still can't believe the support we had! Thank you, everyone, for being there along the way with us! Once again this fandom has proven how enthusiastic and kind everyone is, through their love of FFXV and Ravus in particular this time.Â
Weâre so excited that we were able to raise so much money for such a good cause, and we couldnât have done it without our fans, our contributors, and SE for creating characters that we love. Well done, everyone!
And that's all for cor aut mors!
Thank you all for your support during the past few weeks - between everyone, it looks like we'll be able to donate ~$250 to BBBS! Once taxes have been calculated and donation has been made, we'll be posting with proof and the final total!
We had a blast working on this zine & seeing everyone's enthusiasm for it. We couldn't have asked for better people to work with or a better fan base. We're just happy to give Ravus just a tiny bit of the recognition he deserves, & hope everyone enjoyed it, too. THANK YOU!!

Our team of talented creators put their best into this tribute for our former prince of Tenebrae, giving him nearly 50 pages of artwork and fanfiction meant solely for him. Ravus might have been a minor character in-game, but he was a major character in our hearts. đ
Content specs:
10 artists 6 writers 50 pages of content
Each digital purchase costs only $10, but you do have the option to pay what you want beyond that-- 20% of each sale will be donated to Big Brothers, Big Sisters!
Thank you all for your patience and support, and we hope you enjoy the zine as much as we enjoyed creating it!Â
UPDATE:
While all has been quiet on the Tumblr front, we can now safely say that we've collected ALL of our participant's submissions! We plan to have the PDF put together in the upcoming week, will have a small buffer period for our contributors to check over, and then cor aut mors will be made available to the public!
We'll have information regarding price, charity donation, and where cor aut mors will be available for downloading within the next week! Stay tuned, everyone! Our participants created some truly beautiful work for Ravus, and we can't wait to share with it all of you!Â
Also, a reminder to check out our Twitter over at @ravuszineâ for previews of our talented pieces! We are also more slightly more active over there, so be sure to check us out while weâre waiting for the final pieces to come together!
Weâre so excited to announce the full list of participants for cor aut mors! We canât wait to see what our team will come up with, and hope youâre all as excited as we are!
Our team consists of a total 11 artists and 6 writers. Check below to see all of our talented participantsâs social media linksâ be sure to check out their work!
We want to thank everyone again for their support and interest in our little project for the former prince of Tenebrae. We wouldnât have a zine without our participantâs enthusiasm, and all of the support thatâs come from everyone else interested in it as well. Weâre so grateful for everyoneâs continued encouragement as we get this zine off the ground, and would appreciate anyone sharing this list to get the word out to all Ravus fans out there!
All of our participants have accepted their positions in our zine, and we will be announcing our participant list soon! Please look forward to that! đ

You're the only experienced zine blog online, and I really like your stuff, so,, I have a burning question. Do zines use the money they get from preorders to make the copies of the books, or do they use money out of pocket? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I plan on making my own zine soon!
Oof, thank you for the compliment! We're sure there's more knowledgeable zine mods out there that can answer questions better than we can, but we'll definitely tell you what we know!
Sliding a cut in here due to zine talk + general length. Feel free to disregard this post if you aren't interested!
Ideal: all zine expenses (zines + bonus merch) will be paid for from preorder money!
Not ideal: they don't.
With our previous zine, we did a lot of money crunching. I mean, A LOT. Get quotes from your potential manufacturers ahead of time. If you don't know exactly what you're ordering, ask for multiple quotes on any vague idea you might have. SHOP AROUND. Don't take the first manu you see. Expensive does not necessarily mean good quality. Cheap does not necessarily mean bad. Popularity doesn't necessarily mean anything. If the companies you're looking at offers samples, free or for a small price, GET SAMPLES!! If you're doing digital only, look into your hosting websites (such as Gumroad or Etsy) versus sending out a Drive link. Stripe/Paypal take fees from your profit (as does everything, lbr) and there's shipping software subscription to pay for. Taxes. Please, save yourself the pain and guesstimate your taxes ahead of time, because you DO NOT want to eat that cost.
Costs add up! More than you'd think.
But yes, long story short, your preorders should cover the cost of your zine, but things can go wrong, or change, and that's the nature of creating a thing and working with others to do it. I'd suggest making sure you have a back-up plan, just in case. Plan in setting aside some of your own money with the hopes of not having to use it, but it's there if you need it. You don't want to get all the way through your creation period, or worse, through preorders, to then find out you won't have enough. There's been zines that go AWOL after final deadlines, which renders all of our participant's hard work for nothing, and there's been zines that take preorder money and VANISH. And you do not want to be that zine.
Probably this all sounds daunting!! It is! There's no way around it! But personally? I have found so much joy in being able to create a thing from start to finish, even through the worry and uncertainty. Hence why I've got more zine ideas ready to go! Make sure you have patience, preparedness, and, most of all: A GOOD PARTNER!! Don't run it alone. You can, and I know people who have and have crushed it! But I had a really amazing co-moderator in Masozii (and still do!) and I would 100% not do it without her.
If you're interested in finer details, feel free to send a DM to here (or Twitter, if you're inclined!) If you're interested in basic zine-running stuff, I highly recommend this zine start-up; there's links upon links on there and I went back to this SO many times when the first zine was getting started.
All in all? DO IT!!!
Zines are fun, and you meet so many people within your own contributors! But be ready to plan; it really, honestly makes your life so much easier to have it ready ahead of time and not be surprised in the end.
