Dental surgery (included a bone graft) has been recovered from. Mini update: working on sketching out something substantial for the story. I’ll be releasing it along with its corresponding chapter. Should be a special 2 chapter spread. I’ve been excited for this moment to show the full scope of the world in which we are about to embark 😁 thanks again for all your support!

online numbers can really fuck you up when it comes to your creative work because you're sharing something you worked on with all your heart but it's very important to remember there's actual people behind those numbers. even if it's 1. that's one whole actual person. that's a human being who said "haha nice". that's a connection with a REAL person with a REAL life and REAL thoughts and feelings and experiences. like. damn. that should mean something

Small update! Will be going into minor surgery shortly. Posts may increase or decrease due to awareness and pain levels. For this reason, I am most likely to be focused on doing second drafts for Act 1. In the meantime, feel free to AMA as an author, or give suggestions via comments. Keep it civil and kind. Update! I have begun reposting new drafts of existing chapters, to help build better narrative, as well as general improvements to flow and phrasing. The originals will still exist, but the newer version I feel very proud of for sake of improvements.

Just some poetry I wrote about my girlfriend

I struggle to find words that are truly fair

For her, a woman beyond compare

Who even takes the midnight skies

outshining them with those light-filled eyes

A soothing song spoken that doesn’t fail

Even against a sirens wail

A lovely hand so inviting and warm

That could outcompete any storm

A scent that lingers and looms

And mimics the most aromatic blooms

To last speak upon her taste

So sweet and rich that I could faint

The greatest pleasure I have found in this world

Is finding myself resting and curled

Right up against your chest

And counting the infinite ways I have been blessed.

This is just a quick update for some incoming changes.

First: I highly recommend keeping an eye on my artist page for more frequent updates. I post semi-regularly and post any time I have major plans. (hi to those seeing this on the artist page itself)

Second: I have launched 3 character blogs. They will be labeled in this table of contents soon as well, but in the meantime all links are also visible on the author page.

Third: I intend on going through old chapters to strengthen them. I will not be doing anything that would change the story or themes so far. More touching up for quality as well as making minor changes to names of factions, deeper descriptions of locales, and maybe some lore. This will all be noted in a rolling changelog for Act I for transparency so it isn’t strictly necessary to reread anything. This will be going on passively in the background in preparation for an eventual final draft.

Fourth: I should be clear on the overall goals of this project. At first, this was simply meant to be a short story inspired by Warhound. However, upon getting deeper into it, I discovered a much deeper story. Behind closed doors, the original 4 chapters have now inspired enough notes, concepts, and rich, detailed long form planning that is beyond what I had hoped. So here’s the end goal-

3 full length novels, each several acts long. An act is as long as I feel a particular major plot point is needed. In additon, the 3 character blogs with canon events and Easter eggs and occasional posts.

Update: I have officially finished Act 1 of Shadowroots (formerly Chronicles of Autolycus, name changed to suit what it became).

I’m so happy with how it came out. Over the coming weeks I will be taking a step back from the main story, aside from an introduction to the setting proper. I have big plans for act 2 and I’m doing some plotting out of threads.

In the meantime! I will soon be launching 3 character blogs for the characters. Rayne, Evie, and the Handler. I will also be doing some retouching and better fleshing out in earlier chapters. I want to make this a more serious project, and thusly want to take my time and make sure that I’ve put some more tlc in the introductory chapters.

Working On Chapter 20. Day job takes a lot of time and we are dealing with a resurgence of system activity after a long dormancy. Lots of stuff to figure out, but it leaves lots to inspire our writing.
