"Maybe not, but alcohol usually does the trick, suprisingly." she smirked. "Sorry, a what?" all of this was still so new, most the species from books and movies she'd seen, but still there were a select few she'd never encountered.

“Now you are over thinking it.” He commented. Yeah it was difficult knowing who could be around if the worst ever happened, but what was the point in living like that? Paul quietly listened to her, also thinking of his own experiences since he had become one. None of them were easy, but in one way or another they had helped him control himself a little better. “Me neither, but I made the mistake of going out to look for them, and by doing so I ended up learning something I didn’t know about myself” he explained. Now feeling really bad for the girl he chose to tell her the one thing he did that cause him harm but at least made him understand how much he was capable of. “There is one other thing you could do, you know? You could just let it all out.”

"It's impossible not to, it's something I do with everything," if that wasn't the truth, Rayna's lips pursed back into a sour expression, scoffing at the understatement. "And are you glad you did, or no?" the brunette asked, curious if other phoenixes viewed being one as a curse just as she did, uncontrollable flames still growing. "And what? Bring the town down in hell fire? I think I'll pass, don't exactly want to DESTROY an entire town."

Daniel looked down, eyes darting back up to her. He’d had a meeting with the medical board. “Importance is relative. No date, though.”

"Can't blame me for thinking someone as handsome as you in a suit was for a date, but I suppose there are other things people dress to impress for..” she considered with a small shrug, eyes narrowing as she tried to work it out.

“I suppose you’re right. No one else to impress but me.” Leila nodded, a smile slightly curving the corners of her lips. “Can I get just water and juice? I’m not really a drinker.”

"It loses its fun when you're doing it for everyone else, but unfortuantely far too many fail to see that." Rayna shrugged. "Of course, though I hope you don't plan on mixing the two otherwise I might really have start questioning your sanity."

  " sure you have, but being set aflame doesn't typically end well for others, so it’s a two-way street, “ she fired back, mimicking the others teasing tone. with a couple small steps forward, the phoenix slid into the open seat just beside Lyla and made herself comfortable, holding out a bag of snacks. “ there’s plenty to choose from, how have you been? “

“No, that’s not what I meant.” Paul shook his head, knowing that he was really bad at this but still feeling the need to at least try. “Children are less resistant to drastic temperatures so they are bound to move out of the way a lot faster than adults.” He explained. “It’s not meant to be easy and I’m no expert since I was something completely different before I had to deal with this. I hated what had happened and anger became a big problem but I had to let go of it to help control it. It’s not easy, or perfect but I haven’t set anything alight yet so.. don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s not worth it in the long run.”

Then what did you mean, the question echoed in the back of her mind, exhaustion from the excess use of her abilities kicking in. “And if they’re a baby? Or a toddler just learning to walk?” then again, this was exactly why Rayna refused to pick up any babysitting jobs on the side, she didn’t trust herself alone with kids, or anyone. “I didn’t even know phoenixes existed beyond the state, it’s not exactly some they teach in any school textbook.” she tried for humor though there was an underlying sarcasm to her tone, but as the conversation distracted her from the flames, they seemed to lessen. “It’s hard not to, but hey, worst case scenario is I join some freak circus and become a high-paid act.”

“Oh, hm, neither.” Lei said, shaking her head quickly. “Just wanted to… dress up.”

"Just a wild guess, guess that's a perfectly good reason too, why dress to impress anyone but yourself?" Rayna teased, playfully wiggling her brows. "But if you don't want the outfit to go unseen, you should consider joining me for a few drinks."

“I meant more along the lines of control. It was something he struggled with,” she shrugged. “Two years isn’t very long. You’re better at it than I am.” 

"I don't know if that's meant to help in comforting me, or not," she flashed a smile. "What are you? Maybe we can help each other?"

“Deep breaths, it helps.” He instructed gently, watching the smoke drifting into the wind before his eyes locked with hers. For some reason it felt as if he knew her but Rayvn had never met her. He was sure of it, But something about her felt eerily familiar. “Two years ago? Have you not had anyone that could help you gain control?” He was genuinely curious, it wasnt often that getting control took that long. 

"Everyone says that like taking deep breaths is THAT easy or the answer to everything, if that were the case, I DOUBT I’d still be trapped in the learning stage.” her voice snapped, the flames growing and become near uncontrollable. It wasn’t like she’d had anyone guiding her through any of this. “I’d figure it was that obvious, I didn’t even know I was anything but a witch until..” her words trailed off, falling silent as the memories of that night caused her anger to turn to sadness and the orange flames to blue.

“Yeah, I guess it could. I’m sure you guys could gain a lot of money by pitching those ideas to TV producers.” She mused, finding the idea odd but still good enough. Maia then felt quiver-ish at the thought of baked blood and scrunched her nose. “Yeah… me neither, maybe some sparkling water. Too much blood talk had made me thirsty.” 

"Imagine like a parody of Twilight where Edward doesn't even feast on live animals but his entire diet is made up of blood infused pastries," Rayna snickered, biting down on her bottom lip to suppress her laughter. "I can see if we have anything BLOOD orange, but if not sparkling water it is." She teased, already reaching into the fridge for a new bottle to crack open.
