Ava was singing along and dancing to a song playing on her ipod, without a care in the world. The song was building up and she was getting more hyped, when suddenly she noticed she had jumped on someone’s foot, she turned around in her hand over her mouth “I’m so sorry!” She said taking her earphones off.

Rayne stumbled back a bit after a random girl had backed up onto her foot, grabbing it and bouncing a bit as she hissed in pain. “Shit.” She mumbled, making a face at the stinging in her toe. “It’s fine- This keeps happening to me this week.” She let out an awkward laugh as she put her foot back down, ignoring the throbbing.

“And what? You don’t like the piercings?”

“Oh! No, I like them. I just don’t see them at school all that often. I wasn’t staring because they’re weird, I swear. I like them.” Her face went red at getting caught.

Startled, Rebecca looked up. When she saw the other girl, she curled up further in on herself, but as she noticed the mess, she collected the papers closest to her and handed them over. “Sorry,” she said quietly.

Her face was a bit red from embarrassment, but she ignored it. “No, you’re fine.” She said quickly, finally standing up once again after she got everything back together. “You should find a better place, though, before someone lands on you. The courtyard’s nice.”

“I really think this color will work better on the classroom wall, don’t you think?”

Rayne scrunched up her nose, “I don’t know, doesn’t it seem too...bright?”

“Hello? Is, uh, someone there?”

Daisy looked up, “Well, yeah. I tend to sit here sometimes.” She cocked an eyebrow at the girl, setting down the highlighter she was using. “Am I bothering you?”

“Whoa, they said what?!”

“She literally said her favorite food was pork rinds. That doesn’t make sense, right? They taste like grease-- Ewgh.” She shivered.

Rebecca sat in a corner of the hallway, making herself as small as possible. She took a book out of her bag and began reading it and scribbling in the margins. The quiet was good for her. She was able to think clearly. Suddenly, the bell rang and other people began streaming into the hall.

Rayne rushed out of her class room, not wanting to get stuck behind the clog of students that was bound to happen when everyone tried to leave at once. However, it only took her turning a corner before she found herself tripping over someone’s foot and landing flat-faced on the floor. “Shit--” Was all she got out before she hit the ground. “Of course.” She mumbled under her breath, not even going to look to see what she tripped over as she tried to pick up of the slew of papers that was now scattered around her.

“Why are you looking at me like you’ve never seen a girl in heels play soccer before?”

“Because I haven’t.” She laughed slightly, “I can’t even stand in them, let alone play games.”

She furrowed her eyebrows, “Why can’t you get them?”

Mateo chuckled. “Yeah, I’m weird and like to add in my last name every once and a while,” he joked. “Yeah. I mean, I can’t complain though, it pays well,” he replied with a smile. “Oh, well I just moved here in March, so I haven’t been going here that long.”

She smirked a bit, “I was just teasing. It’s a nice last name, be proud of it.” She laughed a little. “Where do you work?” She smiled, “Oh good, then, I’m not as much as a hermit as I pretend I am. What brought you here?”

Mateo chuckled. “Mateo Hernandez, pleasure to meet you,” he introduced himself with a smirk. “Yeah. I just turned 18 a month ago, so my hours are a lot more packed now.”

“I’m Rayne. Rayne Willis, if you need to know my last name.” She smirked a bit. “You would think they’d go a little easier on high school students.” She shook her head, “It’s amazing I’ve gone to that school for four years and I still haven’t met everyone I’m graduating with.”

“All I’m saying is there’s no need to be rude. Besides, you can walk away at-- at any time.”

Mateo chuckled. “Thanks, I’ll probably need it one day,” he replied. Mateo looked at her and smiled at little before shrugging. “Just work, my hours are all over the place,” he replied, not really lying, but not telling the full truth either.

Rayne smiled, “You’re very welcome. Who are you, anyway? I don’t think we’ve ever met.” She nodded, “I understand that. I’m not supposed to work past 10:30 since I’m not 18, but you know, I usually don’t out before midnight.”
