[👊] Bea held Allister close for a few more minutes before setting the other Gym leader down. Her gaze focused on Allister’s hands as they signed, tilting her head. A low hum left her as she gave a nod, crossing her arms before deciding to answer them.
‘I am doing well. The challengers have been quite strong and I admire their spirit.’
She turned her attention to the clearly excited Mimikyu, bending down slowly before extending her hand.
“Hello Kyuyu… I can see your quite happy.”
Allister smiled lightly under their mask at Bea’s response, it was nice to hear that Bea was fine even after the long lack of communication they had between each other for a bit. They looked down to Kyuyu, who stopped instantly to get patted by Bea,“Hnnhn!! So you listen to Bea..?” Kyuyu chittered with joy in response to Allister, causing them to laugh lowly.
They sat down on their knees to also give some, apparently needed, attention to Kyuyu,“Hnnhn.. I understand! I missed Bea too..!” Allister’s partner chittered once again, looking up to Bea this time, before closing his eyes. Allister signed to Bea again, wanting to inquire on something they could do,‘Do you want to go to the wild area and set up camp?’ They normally don’t ask to do this often, but it was dusk so the sunlight wouldn’t hurt their eyes as much as it would do in the middle of the day.
“Hm. Mom and dad’ll be worried if I don’t let them know we’re here, huh?” she said with a small smile as Gizmo looked around the docks curiously. “We’ll figure out where to go after that, alright?” She pulled out her phone, quickly texting her parents that she’d made it to Galar safe, before hoisting her bag on her shoulder before looking up at a call in her direction.
“Ah…” she hummed, slipping her phone back into her pocket, observing the man with a raised brow. Was he serious? “Unbeatable champion.” Even Steven had never been so cocky before she’d beaten him.
But he was the champion of the region, which was quite interesting, and she smiled. “Pleasure to meet you, Unbeatable Champion. I’m May Takagi. Hoenn’s former champion and future Battle Legend.”
Leon pondered for a second about the fact if he knew anything about Hoenn. He knew the champion was Steven last he was a kid, though he didn’t know that he was beaten as of current, since he was more fixated on Kanto. He shrugged that off internally, smile reappearing on his face from a silent small grin when he was thinking,“You can just call me Leon! Nice to meet you May, it's a pleasure meeting someone who was in a similar position as me before!” He laughed lightly, it wasn’t filled with anytype of malice or ill intent, it was genuine. Genuine having someone to talk to who was champion or previously once was one.
His mind was then fixated on the ‘future battle legend’ statement that May laid out on the table,“I take that being a Battle Legend is a dream of yours right? If you don’t mind me asking, what made you quite being champ of Hoenn and pursue that..? Though, let me tell you about why I wanted to become champion first, mate!” He cleared his throat before tossing his hands around while he spoke,“When I moved here to Galar from Kanto, I saw this ten year old.. Just like me! Win the Kanto league! He fueled the fire in my heart and gave me some determination that I could be like him! So I went on to just do that.. Taking on the gym challenge with a couple of my friends then becoming the unbeatable champ as we see today!”
He dusted off his chest, preparing his next statement,“I do have quite the record.. I wasn’t even beaten in my run through my gym challenge! I trained and trained, and made sure of it!” He may have been boasting, lying, or something in between, but what would he have to gain from lying to someone he just met.. Ego? He already had enough of that as is.
[❁] Sonia couldn’t help but laugh at that, turning to face him from what she was looking over. She rolled her eyes playfully at his remark about spending a ‘champion’ of a time with him. Goodness was he really using that as his catchphrase? She made her way over to him before catching the Champion in a hug. Magnolia waddled her way over to Blaze, clearly happy to see the other Pokémon as she lightly patted the Charizard’s cheeks with her vines.
“Spending time with your oldest friend is always important Lee. But actually I had something to show you that I’m currently working on. Then we can properly hang out.”
Blaze ended up smiling and crouching down, trying to reach to pat Magnolia on the head, but failing due to the little reach his arms had. Leon’s partner huffed before sitting down next to Magnolia and patting her on the head with a small open smile. Leon looked over at the interaction between the two Pokemon, looking content that the two were getting along as usual, turning his gaze back over to Sonia.
“Of course it is! Maybe even later, we can set up a camp in the wild area somewhere?” He pondered for a moment on what curries they’d make together if Sonia were to take up the offer. He hopped that maybe this time they’d get charizard class since his disastrous cooking skills tends to make it more difficult to even achieve Copperajah class. That is, until, his mind trailed back to the task at hand,“But! Show away! I’d love to see your latest study.. project... both..? Well, I want to see whatever it is!” He was now curious as to what it was, would it be about dynamaxing, evolution..? Who knows! He certainly didn’t.
“Hmm… how best to describe them…? Well, Aesen’s the kind of person to let his emotions drive his actions. He can do amazing things, but he has self-confidence issues… however, that’s why Soyi and I are there to help him.”
“As for Soyi… he’s definitely a wild one. He has crazy ideas, sure, but he’s a genius when it comes to technology. His current mission is to try and take down what remains of Team Rocket. They took something valuable away from him, so he wants to make sure they pay for it.”
Since Allister wanted to know so much about them, Jake felt that he could talk a bit more about Soyi’s past. Hopefully Allister didn’t mind the talk of Team Rocket - Jake doesn’t know if anything like that’s happened in Galar in the past or not, so he’s taking a shot in the dark here.
The little ghost type gym leader nodded at the first portion, hearing about Aesen. They wondered how a little interaction would be between the two of them would turn out. Since, after all they themself have some self-confidence issues, but it rubs off whenever they get really into a conversation, like right now. Then hearing about this ‘Team Rocket’ had them perplexed when Soyi was brought up,“Hnn.. Hn..?”
The tone in their voice shifted into one of pure confusion,“If they’re anything like Team Yell.. Wouldn’t they just be a bunch of hooligans, hnhnn..?” Allister hadn’t heard of Team Rocket’s doings before, even after visiting Kanto a few times for their studies,“Hnn. I mean, if they took something dear to him.. That doesn’t sound anything like Team Yell, hnnnhn..?” They twisted slightly, to crack their back as standing there threw them into the sudden urge to do so.
Their Mimikyu was looking at Allister and then to Jake then back to Allister, before fixating his gaze onto Jake,“Hnnn.. Can you tell me more about Team Rocket..? I-I mean if you don’t mind? Hn..?” The possibility of learning about this ‘Team Rocket’ put them in a different mindset, one with slight concern about what might be told.
Honestly, part of him was eternally screaming because his idol was here and he wished he could see his face. But the voice was plenty enough to indicate that he was here, and with his Charizard no doubt. He’s surprised that Leon was able to get here without getting too lost.
Clouded eyes widened with the realization that Leon was, in fact, talking to him, which gave him goosebumps over his arms. C’mon Tai, just relax, he’s here on gym business. Too bad that Milo was out helping someone in town.
“W-Well, Milo maybe out right now or having a match. It’s been quiet today so he’s probably out somewhere in town.” Tai admitted while trying to not get too excited. He didn’t want to start freaking out. His Vulpix finally caught up with him though and trilled, bapping at his leg with his paw. “Oh, ehehe…sorry Pixel. Guess I got a little excited.”
“F-From what I know, its been going well. There have been a few trainers passing by to get a badge.” The grin was starting to grow on his face though, too much was it to try and hide how thrilled he was with Leon here. “I-I’m Tai, its really an honor to finally meet you in person, Leon!”
Leon’s smile was calmer than before, even with Blaze in the background making some low growls as he got lots of attention, nodding in response to Milo being somewhere else in town. He wondered what he could be doing, but that wasn’t what was important right now, after all a trainer from the gym could help out just as much as he could. He looked down to the Vulpix, giving a little wave to the little guy, before his golden gaze turned back to the trainer’s clouded eyes.
“Well, that’s great! I’ll just ask for more details then!” He tilted his head slightly, before laughing lightly,‘A fan of mine.. Working in Milo’s gym? Interesting!’ He responded with his usual peppy tone,“Well, I’m glad you’re happy to see me, Tai!” A small chuckle escaped his grasp, enjoying the fact that Tai was a fan that didn’t join the crowd so he could have a simple conversation with him, well, at the end of what needed to be done.
“Now! How have trainers been handling the challenge here in the stadium to your knowledge? Need any improvement?” He paused,“Too easy to the point where they think every gym ahead of now is going to be a breeze ooorrrr.. Difficult to the point where they dread the next challenge? Maybe its even somewhere in between! That’s why I’m asking this, ha!”
So Rose and Raihan might be related, thanks to some theorycrafting my Galar Fan Club server has been doing, this is going to be a bit lengthy, so let’s begin! Click read more.. Its rather lengthy!
Biology!
1.A) Rose and Raihan share the same styling of hair, from the grey sideburns to the back of the scalp. Black base hair. Strands as well! They both have similar trims as well.
1.B) If Raihan’s mother had blue eyes, theoretically, if the genes meshed in such a way, it would create his turquoise irises we see today.
1.C) They have similar noses too.
Teams!
2.A) Rose’s ace type is steel types and Raihan’s ace is a steel-dragon.
2.B) Raihan’s ace is also Gigantamaxed into a building. Out of all the designs they could’ve had, it is a building! Rose has Rose Tower. The design is rather similar looking to Rose Tower’s logo as well.
Trust!
3.A) Rose entrusts Raihan with the vault and the power plant. Let alone the power plant being beneath his gym. Rose wouldn’t just entrust anyone with this responsibility from what we have seen of him in game.
3.B) Raihan also is not a 100% pure dragon type gym leader, which could be just the sole fact he’s inspired by Lance. Though, I personally feel that a father-son relationship would cause a loose restriction to such a thing!
Motivations!
4.A) Rose won second place in the Championship cup when he was doing his gym challenge! This is a possibility why Raihan wants to keep pushing to beat Leon as champion!
4.B) Raihan might have a completion mindset to prove to Rose, being his dad, that he is strong, possibly stronger than his dad as well?
Names!
5.A) You’ve heard of the saying “roses hide their thorns”, right? Raihan’s name is based off of the flower known to hide its poison.. Laburnum!
5.B) This can connect to a similarity to Lusamine’s and Lily’s names. Lilies are poisonous, but represent other things, creating Lily’s basis as a character! This means Raihan is not an evil character!
Fan Theories!
6.A) People like to base Raihan’s father as someone who worked in the Galarian coal mines.. Well.
6.B) People like to think that Rose did have a family and doesn’t have the time to spend with a family/maintain a relationship. This could lead to a rather large disconnect within the family, showing a solely business one in game between Rose and Raihan.

Friday. It was a day of dread for Raihan, truly it was. For most people, it was the end of the week, a time to wind down. For a gym leader, it was only the beginning of events, of challenges. Worst of all, it was the day the Galar Sun, Galar’s preeminent tabloid published their weekly bullshit. Every week it was some dumb thing different. A comment on Nessa’s looks– or her potential affair she’s definitely not having with Kabu. (What the hell, he was old enough to be her dad.) Speculations about Melony’s family tensions. Questions of goverment conspiracies that cause dynamax.
He was mostly looking for if they had anything to say about him. And they usually did.
Raihan groaned and flopped on Leon’s couch, nearly dropping his rotom phone as he swung his arms back. They both had a bit of downtime– so it was time to put on the TV and pamper any pokemon that could fit in an apartment– and just chill. Too bad it was on tabloid day. “Lee, you see this shit? They think I’m datin’ some champion from another region. Holy shit I just said I liked her outfit. And played with her gible for a bit. Fuuuuck.”
Leon avoided the tabloid to the best of his ability whenever it had came out, due to varying thoughts entering his head whenever he saw strange news come into his direction. A common item being ‘Do the people of Galar really like me?’ whenever he saw his name even without the context being read, just being scanned over in the end. He was watching a rerun of a game show being aired in Kanto, before muting it, turning his head over to Raihan and tilting his head.
He picked up the copy of the tabloid on the coffee table in front of the two, staring at the front page and grimacing at the sight he had saw, before tossing it forward with a sigh,“Galar Sun is just filled with rumors and lies.. Don’t take it all to heart, Rai.” Internally, he wishes he could take his own advice, but saying was certainly better than doing it himself,“Think of it this way! ...”
He paused, he didn’t know how to exactly continue, before holding up a finger, until resting said the under his chin,“... I-I got nothin’ but, don’t let the blokes at Galar Sun get on your nerves. That’s pretty much what they want to start up.. ‘Celebrity drama’ and get the reporters on our arses..!” The champion shrugged, looking to the tabloid for a moment then back at Raihan,“Relaxin’ would be a whole lot easier if that thing didn’t exist.. Though, its expected in such a region we live and run in..”
“Ah well.. Y’know it makes me wonder how it would be like if we weren’t in our positions. You as top gym leader and me as champion...” Leon pushed the hand on his chin onto his lips, muffling the next statement,“(Normal lives as trainers... No drama... Completely different.)” He brought his hand downwards and smacked his own thigh with a small grin on his face,“But, I mean! What’s a little life without a kick of liechi in it?”
The gym seemed to be rather quiet for the moment, while the boy was trying to look after the herd of Wooloo. Thanks to his vulpix, it made the job a little bit easier. The silence that he was enjoying seemed to stop for a bit though with hearing such a commotion at the front of the Gym. What was going on? Were there new challengers coming in to take on Milo?
Tai soon was following the path that he was familiar with without Pixel’s help, heading upstairs till he heard a striking voice.
He knew that voice. He hears that voice all the time whenever his mother was watching the matches on the telly. His clouded eyes widened with a grin following suit on his face as he rushed, hearing his Vulpix cry out and follow after him.
But what was the guy doing here at the gym? Didn’t he have things to do?
“...eady to have a champion time!” The undefeated champ struck his usual pose ensuing the crowd to cheer on. He shot a look to his partner, Blaze, who roared,“Now! If you would excuse me, I have some business I need to attend to!” He walked forward and the crowd cleared a path as Blaze remained there walking towards various members of the crowd to be pet.
Leon then spotted a uniform he’s been searching for from the way to Turrfield from Wyndon on foot. Sure, it was a long journey with him insisting on leading the way to dead ends with Blaze lagging behind, but he made it in the end. He spoke up stopping in front of the other,“Oh hey! I’m guessing it’s safe to assume you’re a trainer here, after all, who else would wear a uniform and be in here!” His smile grew rather large as he laughed lightly,“I’m here to just check in on how the gym challenge is going for the gym in Turrfield here!”
He pondered for a split second, before clicking his tongue,“I was going to ask Milo about it, but I couldn’t find him outside.. I probably took a wrong turn or there’s some match going on in the stadium that I don’t know about!” He shrugged,“Though I could ask you, if you don’t mind of course, hah!”
The Galar region. Surrounded in mystery, May had been curious about this region for years now, and finally, she found the opportunity to do so. It would be her last big travel adventure for a while. Once these few months were done, she would be in Hoenn for the foreseeable future, taking the position of the battle legend of the region, settling down and starting an actual career like her mother and father had been wanting for her.
The only problem was, of course, the boat ride, and since Galar was a fair distance from Hoenn, she spent the entire ride tense and trying to maintain a sense of calm around other people.
But it was over and done with now, and she stepped off the boat into the bright sunlight, her faithful Glaceon beside her.
“Alright, Gizmo. Let’s go see what Galar holds for us, hm?” she asked with a small smirk.
The champion was lost again, trying to head to Wedgehurst, but he truly did take a wrong turn, now at Hulbury. He looked around, confused as to how he got this lost... Maybe it was because he hadn’t let Blaze lead him or.. No, it definitely was that. He began to walk around much more, looking confused at this point, ending up where the markets were, then to Bob’s Your Uncle, and finally ending up at the docks. ‘... Who’s that?’ He thought to himself, spotting the lass and Glaceon.
He approached, with a simple smile on his face, waving to her,“’Ey! You look new around here! Good thing I was here at the right time right place!” Blunt and straight to the point, yet he wasn’t going to say he was lost directly,“Where are you from? I’m Leon!” He stopped about 5 yards away from her, placing his hands on his hips, before putting a hand to his chest, closing his eyes for his next statement,“... The unbeatable champion here, nice to meet you!” He opened them up, smile as gallant than ever.
@waveraging asked “I know that cape could keep you warm through icy winds and blizzards, but some of us are freezing to death in this weather.”
Leon tilted his head slightly, before opening his arms and hands on his cape ends with a grin, inviting the cold to the rest of his body,“Could’ve told me that! There’s room for two or maybe three or maybe more in this cape y’know!” He chuckled lightly,“If you’re that cold, you wouldn’t mind buddying up to your pal here... Riiiight?”
Leon snickered a bit more, before placing a hand under his chin, before seriously contemplating,“Orrrr... I could just place an order for cape replicas for all the leaders! We’d all be closer to matching at that point... Imagine that!” He was still holding one end of his cape open, still inviting the water gym leader with a coy smirk on his face,“But! I’ll still be offering cape entry until then!”
