his jaw latches tight. molars grinding down, like he has to smooth the grit of what he wants to say next so it doesn't come out too sharp. emmett's guilt fogs the room. trails out behind him and lingers like the smell after a gunshot. scott watches the doorway for as long as it takes to level his breathing. to catch the rise of his pulse and lower it again, remind himself that whatever happened, whatever call emmett made that got her hurt, it wasn't on purpose. he wouldn't hurt her on purpose. they've all been there. they've all screwed up, and someone always pays for it. daisy's bleeding, wincing, pissed off, but she's alive. that's what matters.

his focus softens once it settles on her. " yeah. deal. you might be better off with an actual doctor, but i think i've got it. " he turns halfway to grab supplies and then doubles back. his hand slides around the slope of her neck, a gentle, close - mouthed kiss pressed above her brow. grounding. an attempt to soothe his own nerves just as much as hers. it's a relief she won't have to do it herself, already so upset, daisy isn't sure how much patience she'd have for the task tonight. shoulders sag & a soft smile pulls at the small cut on her lip though she doesn't mind the sting as scott presses a kiss to her forehead, melting into him a bit in need of the comfort. eyes flutter open, head resting back in his hold so her gaze can find his, " you think i haven't taken all of these hunters pain at least once before. " brows raise playfully & cups his jaw with a gentle hand. " it's not . . . my pride that's the reason why i'm saying no. i - i need to feel it. " they lost the kid & her heart aches.

she leans up, leaving an affectionate kiss to the corner of his mouth before stepping back. " c'mon, i have the supplies in my place. " fingers slip between his to lead him towards the private elevator, punching in her code to open the doors & bring them up to her home.
