Hey Ren this question is for you. What are some of your favorite games, foods, types of music, and books.

I noticed that I’m only asking about your oc’s, apologies.

Also I’ve been wondering for the longest time, what does your alphabet look like, I want to know from someone who lives there. And are there any myths about your country (I’m a mythological nerd lol 🤓)

My fav games are Baldurs Gate 3 and Final Fantasy 14. (FF14 is definitely my most played game by far... 2000+ hours in that thang)

Splatoon games are neat, even though I don't really play them anymore. I grew up really liking Pokemon and played it religiously. There's lots of games I find cool... I have alot of love for pixel styled games and retro aesthetics. Unfortunately I grew up with no money to spend on cool things like games outside the occasional cheap stuff, so I've missed out on alot of things, and my gamer-ness isn't as developed as some people. I suck balls at fast action games generally, with splatoon being the exception.

Food? I eat like everything. I'm willing to try almost anything at least once. I like cultural foods, but for something safe and predictable I really like burgers.

Music, again I'm greedy so I listen to whatever makes me feel something, groove, flushes out my thoughts or makes me think of my ocs. I lean towards Industrial, Metal, and interesting genre fusions. I also really like theatrical music, like from musicals and such. I like singing along.

Books... I'm mildly dyslexic and have ADHD so it's always been a bit of a struggle. I've only recently been picking up reading & listening to audiobooks more. I'm pretty picky... It has to be about something I'm very interested in, like high fantasy (also gay or at least bi) or horror. I really like books by 'Uketsu' for a mystery horror vibe and I can't wait for future translations. I recently finished listening to 'Incidents Around The House' and I thought it sucked ass, but it had a handful of creepy scenes I actually liked. I feel like the book 'Apparently Sir Cameron Needs To Die' was catered specifically to my tastes while also being hilarious. (I read it all in one day....)

The Norwegian alphabet just has 3 extra letters, like this:

It's a germanic type language so there's alot of similar traits to German and English.

As for Norwegian mythos (I guess you mean mythology like folk tales and such?)

we have alot, like big scary trolls and norse paganism stuff (Thor, Loki, Odin etc.) but I like the more niche entities like Nøkken and Fossegrim. These things are often shared between other Scandinavian countries, tho they tend to have slight variations.

We have alot of tricksters & water related spirits.

The Fossegrim can teach you how to play the fiddle as long as you have a worthwhile offering.

Either depicted as a beautiful man or a weird goblin thing.

The game 'Bramble: The Mountain King' has alot of these entities in them since it's based on Nordic Fables. Check it out, it's really cool.

Does Mephi have any pets, Hobbies, is there a special place he likes to hide out, does he have a favorite drink (I have a hunch it’s a sweet drink lol), what’s his favorite color?

He likes sweet drinks, yeah. He'd get those girly fruity cocktails at bars if he had to choose. He probably is really into tropical themed drinks (he enjoys the idea of beaches)

for colors, I guess he likes Teal. I just say dark turquoise LOL

Hell does have seasons! In the capital it is very mild, but there are extreme weather changes outside of it. There are icy cold parts of hell too.

I would say spring and fall are pretty short over there, with long summers and winters instead. Very hot n cold.

The most common natural disaster in Hell are Earthquakes and Faux-quakes bc them Devils are fighting sometimes...

Ok what type of music do they make at hell? And I remember that hell is based off of European culture (example: some of the clown devils) so is heaven the same? (Based off of Europe that is.) or is it some other place entirely?

Generally it's a bit more chaotic & layered!

I have a playlist of the general vibe. Naturally there's alot of Swing/Electro Swing and Dark Cabaret music in there. There's also songs that makes me think of various areas or Devils in hell:

As for Heaven, it's all about Order, so things are very controlled, industrial and high-tech over there. Hell is culture and tradition-rich, but Heaven cares less about those things and is mostly focused on technology and convenience. Lots of skyscrapers and cityscapes, tall apartment buildings, minimalistic decor in alot of places. (It depends on where you go.) It doesn't really have a clear region specific inspiration and that's very much On Purpose.

Heaven lacks alot of nature. So it is mostly 'artificial' setup parks like this.

Heaven is not somewhere you go to the afterlife in this universe (much like Hell) but is its own continent. Heaven is highly idolized by humans (think of the American Dream) but the place can be pretty shitty when you actually live there depending on your status. Place feels very Sanitized.

My stories involving my angels dabble into that struggle. Characters like Ishim and Jared are Soldier Pawns thrown around to keep some kind of order, and their living situation isn't the greatest—but they make do!

Of course, Hell is plenty shitty to live in too depending on where you find yourself. There's pros and cons to both!

You can imagine alot of controlled-feeling electronic music coming out of Heaven, and samey-sounding pop songs. There's lots of underground music though, as a form of rebellion.

hey how did each brother die? (I already know how the eldest one died) like how did the other two die?

also what era is the setting? I don’t know if somebody’s asked this question before because you said they have TVs so is it set like in different rings there’s like a different era or the entire rings are just different types of entertainment related things like in one side of the circle there’s like a whole amusement park but in the other side, there’s like an aquarium.

Eldest killed em, cause he's the most physically strong out of all of them.

The setting is modern day! Hell has no rings/levels in my universe, just different areas like countries, within a big continent. This is because the concept of a 'sinner' does not exist in this world, and Hell is not really an 'afterlife'. You can travel to Hell to go on vacation LOL

Of course, there are still elements that are vaguely inspired by the seven deadly sins, but it's more related to actual Devil entities that are like that, who has control over certain areas.

Though, Hell was behind on technology for a while. It used to be more mysterious and closed off before they figured out a way to send communication signals between realms. They value tradition and tend to stick to old ways more often.

Places close to the capital have more entertainment districts since it's more developed there.

If Mephi was in the “modern” (I say lightly because I don’t what the rest of the world looks like) world and wasn’t a Royal what his fashion sense look like? Also follow up question about the brothers. What was the relationship between them did any of them actually like love each other or were they just thinking about the throne.

If he was just a regular guy he would still dress pretty flashily I think. He'd be a big fan of patterned casual suits and suit vests. Big fan of long coats too. Lotsa colors. Yup!

Hey another question about Mephi, what are his hobbies and interests. I’m also curious does he have a favorite food? Does he like sweet things or spicy things? Also I remember reading a comic where he said “do they not like my style?” Soooooo…. Does he have an abundance of different designer clothing? Like a whole walk in closet amount or does he just wear what's given to him.

Mephi's a big fan of festivals, theme parks and carnivals. He also really likes TV. Stuff like soap operas, game shows, movies, sitcoms and all. Otherwise, he keeps busy by developing little magic light-shows.

Because of that alot of his favorite foods are sweets and other fair foods—I'd like to think! I can imagine him being a sweet tooth, since I doubt he would get much access to sweets as a kid. It's like those families who are ingredient-only households, LOL.

Though, nostalgic savory food from his childhood would most likely be grilled meat skewers or something like that. They don't have chicken in Hell, they eat this creature called a Cockatrice. Look em up!

Aaand yeah, he's a flashy guy so he has a big closet. He has a lot of stuff personally tailored to him. He likes colors and patterns, and weird little hellish pointy shoes hehe.

Hey what is Mephi‘s mental state, like how does he cope with the fact that his brothers died in front of him? I’m also curious but did someone tell them that they would have to fight to the death, did Mephi do any training or did he avoided it entirely?

this question has been bugging me for the last few months.

I'm planning to tell more of his story one day, whether it's through comics or games!

His family was the only thing he had. Because he didn't participate much in training he wasn't allowed to go outside (but he did sneak out a few times). He did participate in training sometimes—but naturally he wasn't very good at it, so he'd get belittled for it.

So when your only 'human' connection you had is gone, the outside world 'hates' you, understandably—you become a little bit fucked up. Not to mention, his family WAS abusive towards him (generational trauma going strong in this one).

His coping is a bit unhealthy. He hallucinates his siblings commenting on everything he does, and he still holds onto their (now cleaned and polished) skulls in his room. He still looked up to them, after all. It makes him feel normal.

The battle to the death thing is a tradition in Hell once the king dies. It's a huge system... I don't think I could explain it all. The king is required to have multiple children with different people, to then find the strongest genes for one of the children to become future king. It was kind of something Mephi knew was going to happen one day, but it doesn't really hit you until you're about to go through it.

Obviously, all of this is prone to change as I develop it, so if the media I make involving him turns out slightly different, don't be surprised!

Game log #5

I've worked on a few more technical things!!! Who knew making a simple point and click shop would be so difficult? But I did it!!! I absolutely hate the look of the in-engine shop menu, so I thought I'd maybe do something creative instead! At first, I had this odd problem where it would repeatedly play the coin sound without clicking anywhere... But I managed to get it working like how it's supposed to after a few sessions. It's really easy to miss a mistake you did when you struggle with reading through text and numbers LOL

Making a sliding tile puzzle also destroyed my brain, even while following a tutorial... There were some differences I had to troubleshoot myself—BUT IT FUNCTIONS! Er... I'm not particularly good at these myself, so I have a few fun ways to 'skip' doing this. I spent an embarrassing amount of time into this... Might make the image more high contrast later so it's easier to see...

There are some funny little NPCs you can come across. The ones with black included into the color palette are more... 'odd'.

I've also done quite a bit of art again. I can't show the others, but I really like this one.

Sorry for constantly asking you questions, but I was wondering what’s your headcanon voice for the king of hell and what would he look like if he was human?

Naw I love questions!!!

I think Mephi would look very... European. Of course, he'd have dark brown hair or maybe even black I think. He'd have some sun tanning genes, so he wouldn't really be pale. My OC Hell is based on alot of European cultures/locations especially Germany, Spain, Scandinavia, etc. depending on where you go in Hell. Alot of cool intricate circus aesthetics like some that I've seen from Russia (minus the animal performances)

As for voice, I've mentioned he'd have some sort of Transatlantic accent, with a sprinkle of Germanic in there. It's very hard to find something like that without finding a dedicated voice actor because I'm so particular about accents and tone of voice. The Transatlantic accent is something that mostly shows up in the royal family, so I don't think a normal Hellian citizen would have it.
