Given the context, with an evil alien father hunting down his progenies, she adds quickly: "Opposite situation from this one, mind you, he's the best..." person doesn't apply, "--Creature in the whole wide universe. Travels to all planets to rescue civilizations, but tries to do it non-violently, he's mad like that. And that's why I'm staying out of it for now... because maybe people are going to get lucky and the Doctor will come to save them, as he should. If he can't, then... his monster daughter will intervene and do it the bloody way. That's all I'm good at, and it's... not good enough."

he is aware of what lay in jenny. it is the same fire that is in the doctor. it wouldn't take much for her to snap, and do something awful. it is the same point he makes repeatedly, when going after his childhood friend. it's the same thing he likes to draw out of them, time and time again. to make them realise that they weren't so different.

but he doesn't want that for jenny. he doesn't want to see her go through the pain, the suffering, that their parent did. there's a protectiveness there, one that burns. he will do whatever he is able to protect her. and if that meant his continued mission to avoid death at all costs? then he will gladly oblige.

"you're not allowed to die." he chuckles. "just as much as i'm not. do we have a deal?" he gives her one last squeeze, before finally pulling back, releasing her. "alright, now we've got the sappy talk out of the way, why don't we get out of here?"

"Deal," she agrees, and the way he actually accepted her affection and is, this time, returning it openly, is actually fighting off the bloodlust that is simmering right under her skin. Her programming isn't fully gone, maybe - eliminate threats - but this is just so personal now. And then he asks her to go, and her eyes widen. "Uhhhhh-there is a why, actually? When I said I was about to go ballistic?" she swings her thumb back to point at the area behind her and starts backtracking, "The 'about to go' wasn't... uh, it was-let's say I was in a bit of a hurry to interrogate-we should run, by the way," she's already started to jog, but then she turns so she can properly speed upon, "I kinda locked the guards out of the gate?" The gate that divides them from the black hole, specifically, the one that the planet is getting closer to, and she really needs to open the thing and let them in before they are sucked into space. "It was just a scare tactic, there is plenty times, it's just that i got caught up in the moment, you know?"

Was it a tactic? Yeah. Sure. No way she would have just left. Some of those guards were just doing their job, keeping her away.

They are beginning for mercy, she can hear them as she comes closer, and her stomach should lurch, but he's her best friend and she wasn't about to lose another best friend, they can piss off. It's enough that she turns the first lever to let the bastards back in, but the second one has her hesitating, because on the other side there is the one in charge, banging on the gate and begging to come back in. It's his fault. He'd probably do it again.

many things that the master didn't like to think about flashed through his mind. because this moment reminded him of many things. he's hit by emotion he hasn't experienced in a long, long time, the feeling of someone caring about him. in a way where there is no strings attached, no conditions. jenny is reminding him of his daughter. jenny is reminding him of who the doctor used to be (sort of.). jenny is reminding him that despite every single thing that he has done, he is not beyond someone caring for him like this.

and he knows he's going to screw this up. disappoint her. whether it be due to past actions, or his future ones. it's instinctual for him. but for now, he pushes that to the back of his mind. for now, he chooses the hug. he tightens his grip on her, and doubles his hands, pulling her in for a tighter, firmer hug.

"if it's reassuring to you - dying has never really been my thing anyway."

She burst into a laugh that is on the verge of hysterical over that comment, resting her head against his shoulder as her body shakes with it.

"You are telling me, I'm not even sure I could die if I wanted to. And I've tried, trust me, but... Still, it'd be cool to have less breakable friends..." Also another thing she has in common with her dad, probably - and truly, she inherited some of the worst aspects of his life.

"It's funny that I distinctly don't want to... die anymore, because I've got people in my life who can. That's going to end well. You better not make it your thing, I was... honestly about to go ballistic." She still has it in her, after all, always will. It's her programming. And the fact that she has free will has only made her more vengeful.

out of all the beings in the known universe, the master was perhaps the least huggable entity in it. but the warmth hits him like a tsunami, both physically and emotionally, and he can't help but let out a staggering breath. the hug isn't quick; she's not letting go. and it's uncomfortable; if for nothing else than for the fact that he's soaking wet. but-

"-jenny." there's a warning in his tone, but there's also a softness he can't entirely erase.

She didn't deserve to care, yet there she was. Had been so close to pull another massacre too. "It's either some more of this or I'll sob over the fact that I thought you were a goner and you'll have to see and hear that shit. Up to you."

Ohhh! What a fascinating discovery. Not a Time Lady, but a Gallifreyan. And it seemed this one had no idea who she was. She could have fun with this! "Ah, not to worry there, Jenny. The Time Lord Academy is overrated anyway. And not to mention boring. You aren't missing out on much."

It reminded her of all the old times her and the Doctor would run around and break all the rules. Oh...how he could be such a bad influence. At least before he left Gallifrey and became attached to humans. Missy missed those times with her best enemy.

Blue eyes perk up at her mention of there only being one Time Lord who survived the war. Her hands landed on her hips. "I wonder how you came to that conclusion?" She had a knowing suspicion, but had to play the part and ask. "Who told you this?"

"Yeah? I don't do well with boring. I'm more about action than books," she mimicked a punching-stance for a fraction of a second and then hoped the Time-Lady before her would just ignore it, because damn it, she was not supposed to look for violence. Getting caught up in the enthusiasm of finding someone like her father had made her a little careless; not that it was such a big deal if other people knew she had a tiny violent streak, the problem was that she didn't want to have said streak anymore. She was done with that sort of thing. "Wasn't told about an 'academy', I mean. I like learning on the field. Peacefully, of course."

Oh, she liked the way this particular Time-Lady animated her words, she had flare. "My... The Doctor himself told me. Bit of an overstatement, I see." Because of course she didn't have to doubt Missy. "It's... weird how I just... know you are one of them. It's like I can feel it."

I can officially slow down with the studying math bit of my life, I've offered tutoring (too late so I probably won't find kids in need of it because they already got their tutor for summer school, but my ptsd slowed me down, so I'm just gonna say 'this is good enougn', lying) and now I just have to perfection what I already know here and there, so whenever the heat isn't killing me, I intend on putting more effort into my blogs again! Anxiety-aside too, of course!

which also may mean finally bringing back @smiletimeisrunningout my FAVORITE character, which I've been writing for 13 years now ?? maybe? ? I actually also want to write Bonnie, my other oc, so I may bring her back here too? I'm not sure??

while I love you all, and I'm already suffering over not having rped for a couple of days because it's my favorite thing in the world, I'm announcing that I'm going to be low-activity for a while. We are being hit by a heat wave while in the middle of THIS CURRENT heat-wave, they don't know how long it'll last, 40°c in the day and high temperatures all night, I have no AC and multiple health conditions, so I'm already struggling to eat and it hasn't even really started yet. I will respond to threads that I'm dying to write whenever I have a little energy, here and there, sorry if it comes off as me playing favorites but between 'I'm enthusiastic about this' and 'I love this' I have to pick the first to survive the mood drop that comes with my body not working. I will also gladly answer memes and do all other drafts whenever I can, limit chatting a LOT, to take pressure off myself because I also have to finish studying so I can tutor kids somehow. I cannot express how bummed out I am. So please do NOT do the thing where you try to make it easier for me by not sending me things or not replying to things because having options and fresh stuff makes my life easier.
